I love it when kid's play handhelds in television and film, and there's never a cartridge in the Game Boy.
I think some of the best shit I've ever seen along these lines is when House has the GBA and the PSP.

I saw House playing a DS once.
fuck this OTT.

Edit:
Oh noes, Plume's been compromised. Run before he bites you.

*runs, hides*
We work for the same company - after 9 years, you'll be just like me, too. Bear that in mind.

Speaking of which, I was reading yesterday about some beta game that is like a Runescape, but humans vs zombies. Can anyone jiggle my brain cells and remind me what the name of it was?

And I have no idea what the Thread title means, BTW...

you're mean, don't try to scare me like that ;)

how are pixie and juggerbit? what about hte renovations to your house that your inlaws were "helping" with?
You know, I am in such a DR mood tonight, but I don't know if I'll have the energy to play after I put my son down and clean up.

I have been working a ton of OT and my "couple hours" yesterday became "Leave for work at 6:30am and get home at 9:30pm." I bring this up because I still took advantage of the wife being out of town and went to the club with some old work friends. And, it is relevant when I was talking to one friend about zombies, and she said she loved zombie movies - to which I replied she is the "coolest woman ever." (As opposed to my wife who is terrified of zombies, but forces herself to watch them, because she is "planning strategies for the inevitiable outbreak." )

Maybe because I have been working six days a week and a total of 130 hrs over the past two weeks is why I have been so obsessed with zombies lately...
At the picnic I was at today, I had to explain zombies to a woman who subsequently asked me what one zombie movie to watch.

Yikes. What a dilemma... almost as bad as being caught up in a zombie apocalypse. My gut instinct is the original "Dawn of the Dead," but then the original "NotLD" is also a good choice for a first-timer. Lucio Fulci's "Zombi 2" was so great, but probably loses some of its oomph without having built up an appreciation for Romero's work. And then there's the all out party of "Return of the Living Dead," but geez... I dunno.

What'd you end up recommending?
I think Ageis Wings made my eyes hurt.
The pain means it's working. Push on through it!!

I went with the obvious one, and what I think may be the most accessible: Dawn of the Dead (1978).
Oh, snap! My Xbox Live subscription ends Tuesday.
If you don't find a deal by tomorrow, I hope you're prepared to pay $50 on your CC.

Don't go losing your gamertag like I did.

My CC is expired. The one I have tied to my gamertag, anyway.

How did you lose yours, anyway?

Sure, it's accessible, but it's also pretty grisly (even by today's standards) for someone not used to gore. The comic book style blood helps to make it more palatable, but Savini's bite effects sell so shockingly well... It does have a great storyline and wonderful characters, though.

I'm assuming you've got the deluxe remastered box set with all the versions, right? :)

My sub ran out when I was looking for a deal to renew, they tried to charge my CC which was expired (sound familiar?) and it didn't work.

I finally got a card for $25, but it wouldn't let me use the card to extend the "zewone" account.

I called them and found out the reason was because MS wanted my $50 on the CC that was expired, so the only way to keep the tag was to give them the info on a new CC and let them charge.

I told them to suck my dick, I wasn't about to pay $75 in one day for Live.

Sometimes.... I wish I had.

Oh, and sorry for missing those messages you sent me on XBL Scobie, BC games (like Halo 2, which I was playing) are iffy on alerting me on messages sent from other games.
you're mean, don't try to scare me like that ;)
Ask Pixie - she hears the stories of how I used to be before I met her (read as: fun) and has trouble believing I'm the same person. Yet, she goes out of town, and I fall back immediately into my old habits. (Read as: I didn't have to be the responsible one.)

how are pixie and juggerbit? what about hte renovations to your house that your inlaws were "helping" with?

Juggerbit is fine - I've been taking him to a babysitter everyday when I'm at work, and he has one of those "kid crushes" on.

I literally just got off the phone with Pixie; she's in Toronto to party at Pridefest. She said she was about to go to some lesbian art show, to which I replied, "Ah yes, paintings depicting anaolgies of the delicate petals of womanhood before they're vigorously scissor-lockedly grinded." I don't think my comment went over well.

I even told her she lost her title of "Coolest woman ever" because of the zombie movie thing. She claimed she loves zombie movies, and I replied that Susan actually enjoys them. Pixie replied, "But they're training films!"

Not much has been done in the basement, other then the floorboards for the walls have been anchored. I just haven't been home over the past few weeks to get the ball rolling. I haven't even had a chance to fill out the paperwork for my doctor's appointment on Tuesday yet...

Oh, you definitely can because it doesn't downgrade.

Yes, that's what I was thinking as well.

Also, thanks for the invite. How long do they last? I want to clear up some HD space before I accept.

I had the same thing happened to me, where I had my card replaced, and they couldn't charge it and wouldn't let me use a pre-paid card because "I was set up for credit card billing and that cannot be changed." Yelling at a few CSRs eventually got that changed and my prepaid will kick in next year...I hope.
Oh, you definitely can because it doesn't downgrade.
Are you sure? After my one month trial was over in December, it dropped back to silver for me while my 12 month card was in limbo (it took the fuckers at buy.com a MONTH to ship it to me).
After I got the card, I input the code and went on as though I had had Gold the entire time.

I think thats true in your case because you weren't set up as CC user.

In my case, the gamertag just got stuck in limbo, as I had explained.

To make sure that it doesn't get deleted for inactivity, you can "park," your account, which will disable access to a lot of the site, but will allow you as much time as you need to clear up room.

No prob. Maybe when you can back from your trip we can play some XBLA stuff. :)

Alright, excellent. Thanks.

I wish I had it. I bought the single-disc edition around three or four years ago when Overstock.com had it for two dollars. I think the deluxe set came out a few months after I bought that, so I was pretty annoyed and, while wanting it, I couldn't justify spending the money.

Anyway, I think Night of the Living Dead would be way less accessible just because of how old it is. Dawn of the Dead is much more modern-looking, and it clearly had a higher budget, and for those reasons I think it makes it a much better choice for first time zombie movie watchers. Of course, the gore could be a turn-off, but seriously, it's a zombie movie. What else would you expect?

I'm bad? Are you going to spank me?
Time for more Shadowrun, I can really see that taking up some serious time....Time that could be spent pimping and such.
I've got the demo on my 360 still need to play it.

480p actually works well for viewing websites on a large screen TV. The font is very readable.

I watched city of god today with my 1080p Philips upconverting dvd player. It did a very good job. I wanted to watch a movie I had seen before on a regular TV so I had something in my mind to compare it to. And anime looks fantastic! Probably due to the lack of detail. I tested it out on Hellsing Ultimate on DVD and it was excellent! Now to see how it does converting older shows on Dvd like my Magnum.

Who needs Hd-dvd or blueray? Better and cheaper to just upconvert.

I don't know what I think of the Quake Wars beta... I tried to play it for an hour and found myself with the same problem as in Battlefield X.

I die no matter what. If I play sniper, I get hit with a rocket. If I play the rocket guy, I get runned over. If I play the guy in the tank, someone hits me with a satellite mounted weapon...

Oh yeah. I need to upconvert some porn to 1080p.

Most def.

I kinda felt the same way, even though I knew full well that the box set was coming at the time I bought the US theatrical release DVD. I just couldn't take it any more. It had been years since I saw it and was on a major zombie kick at the time.

Looking back, though, I can't say I regretted it. The commentaries and other for-the-fans stuff in the box set was totally worth it to me. Plus, getting to see the "director's cut" version (which contains not only a lot more of the story but also more gore) was just too good to pass up, not to mention Dario Argento's cut for Europe with a lot more gore and more of Goblin's moog-driven soundtrack. :D

All told, I own four versions of Dawn of the Dead and three versions of NotLD, not including the remakes of both. Couldn't bring myself to chunk down another $10 or so on the latest NotLD re-issue with the MST3k guy's commentary, although I have seen it and it is moderately entertaining.
