The "Stay Classy, Republicans" Super Nintendo Chalmers Thread

It always dumbfounds me that republicans are often some of the poorest Americans yet they support nothing short of sponge-bathing the wealthy.
So I read the CBO report on Ryan's budget and I'm thinking holy crap. A Republican actually has a plan that doesn't look like complete dog shit that might be a starting point for real negotiation on getting a spending bill done that doesn't further blow up the deficit.

Of course it's a lie.

The CBO restating what Ryan asked to score:

So we're assuming that the tax rate stays roughly the same as today. But does Ryan's plan materially affect tax revenue?

lol. Basically eliminating taxes that rich people pay. What, no payroll tax decrease? Of course not.

Stay classy, shitbags.
The Ryan solution to rising healthcare costs is to not pay for healthcare.

No seriously, his "idea" was to issue vouchers the value of said vouchers would be worth less and less as time went on and seniors would be left at the mercy of for the profit system.

It was funny to see Ryan defending the fuck out of Medicare during the HCR debate. He then proceeds to gut Medicare in his budget proposal.

It was also funny to see every Republican white knighting for Medicare, which the Messiah Reagan denounced as the socialistic killing of old people.

Some people are willing to look beyond their own personal interests. I know that's a foreign concept to some, but it's true.
I just can't believe Bob could lecture anyone on looking beyond your own self interests.
LOL once again you totally miss the point too. You're becoming UncleBob Jr round these parts
Good job missing the point there, Bobbo.
And what exactly was your point? Because it really seemed like a snide comment about how stupid, poor republicans are working against their own self interests by voting republican...
The point is that a large part of Congress — large enough to block any action on jobs — cares a lot about taxes on the richest 1 percent of the population, but very little about the plight of Americans who can’t find work.
Really?

Yes, really. That's not even an apples-to-oranges comparison.

Nor is it an oranges-to-oranges comparison.

It is a full-the-fuck-on "dude, you're comparing the same orange to itself" comparison.

If you don't see it, then I don't know what to tell you, other than I'm amazed you can type words.

I think you should go back to ignoring me. Again.

It's plain obvious that you're more interested in insults and imaginary points than any kind of actual conversation.

Pulling a quote about Congress from an economics professor and trying to tie it to someone who's greatest addition to the thread is "boom-tish" is pretty amazing.

And you're becoming an insulting little twerp, what's your point? Also, bob is on ignore so I only see his posts when someone quotes them, I comment on what I see. Wouldn't be a problem if you'd all stop quoting him.

Yeah the fact taht the Republicans don't think tax cuts for rich people need to be paid for shows what their goal is. All they really care about are tax cuts (thanks Grover Norquist!)

Yeah... there isn't a single con out there politician, spokesperson or whatever who isn't a raving pant shitting lunatic.

It all happened so gradually...

Yeah yeah yeah, there might be one or two sane ones out there but I can't think of any.

Of course some of them might actually be sane and just tossing meat to their deranged base but then it is hardly my fault they they keep their senses under wraps.

I think it is more a problem of the establishment Democrats and establishment Republicans dictating the agenda. How many people would actually be spouting off some of this crap if there weren't figure heads injecting it into the agenda? If Glenn Beck, and other pundits like him, didn't just exist for the purpose of riling up people, would you really see the people so divided into nice little groups who are at each other's throats? Would you really see the constant race baiting?

So Republicans being a collection of diaper wearing yahoos is the fault of the establishment Democrats now?

The problem starts when people align themselves into groups based on like minded ideologies, but are more or less forced into choosing one of two crappy choices instead of having a wide array of options.

Oh, so the flaws in our party system stem from it being a party system.

Never woulda thunk it.

To be honest, I'd much prefer the more reasonable multi-party (rather than 2 established) systems of Canada and the Europe.

The flaw in our party system is that it isn't a party system, its an either/or system, and either/or both suck.

ah. that's kind of what I meant. The fact it forces us (independant parties aren't worth anything and you know it) to side with one of the two parties. Bipartisanism and all that
So Republicans being a collection of diaper wearing yahoos is the fault of the establishment Democrats now?
Establishment Democrats play into the same game that establishment Republicans do. They both control the debate in a way that does nothing for the common person, but put them at the throat of another person, by injecting vitriol into the debate. Meanwhile, Wall Street loots the place.

Democrat's corporate interests tend to be more beneficial to the common person than those of the Republicans, though, fullmetalfan.
I'm with troy on this one. The party system we have in place sucks big ole donkey (and elephant) balls.
libertarians lack unity and focus.

the green party is too myopic.

the bulk of the american public is so dunderheadedly obtuse to what 'socialism' means, and knee-jerk reactionarily opposed to anything labeled 'socialist' such that any genuine Socialist Party in the US is dead despite their refusal to admit otherwise.

the party system we have stinks for a number of reasons, but more than anything else, the poorly informed american voter is responsible for reifying it.

I wouldn't place the blame on the voter; I'd say it's the system itself. With a 2-party system, independents and fringe parties are inevitably going to fail.

when they start at the top, of course. too many parties are focused on national-level politics and ignore the important stuff going on at the local level.

i think libertarians are just a conglomerate of selfish pricks with no real policies other than the kind of tripe you hear from an old man in a rocking chair on his porch - but i'd respect them if they didn't waste their money on a presidential election every year and focused on community-and-state level politics such to establish their party as a legitimate alternative to the two.

If I put together a baseball team today - got 25 guys and a few bench folks - should we start off playing in the MLB (National League, please)? Why not? For the same reason "small-market parties" shouldn't be wasting their time on elections that offer nothing in the way of "returns," economically speaking.

Repeat after me: this is not racism this is not racism this is not racism.
Repeat after me: take things out of context take things out of context.

It's pretty easy to convince anyone that anyone on tv is racist if the only stuff they see of him is what you want to show.

I happened to be watching that last night because I couldn't sleep. He gets pretty worked up for the first 15 minutes of the show, but as soon as he said that, I immediately wondered how many left-wing sites would take it out of context the next day. It certainly was a poor choice of words to use right after showing a clip of Obama knowing how many left snipers just wait for an opportunity like that. But it wasn't racist. Anyone that thinks it was meant to be racist is a pure fool.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AGw9m5DMK5k

You really should watch the whole thing but at least watch from 7:10. Good prediction, except no mention of Salon.

I watched the whole episode and I heard it in context.

I said it's not racist.

What the fuck is wrong with you people, seriously? I said it's not racist and you act like I said the complete opposite. fucking douchebags.
