Welcome to the Steam Deal Thread V2! You can find the V1 thread (2010-July 2011) here. Read post #2 of this thread for Steam FAQs and more.

This is a Wiki post. Please read this
We appreciate you helping keep this thread up to date. The sales change virtually every day so no one person has the time to update them all. If you notice a game is no longer on sale, feel free to delete its line from the sale list. Of course, if you see a game is on sale, add it to the list. Make sure your changes match the thread's format! For example, every game that's on sale is part of an unordered list. When adding a game to the list, copy an existing line and update the link, title, and prices. That way, the format stays correct. Do not list percentages off! We list the original price and the sale price here. If you have any suggestions for major changes to the post/thread, PM me (EastX) about them.
for instructions on updating the thread.

Steam Games and DLC on Sale - Updated 2/12

Preorder Deals - Updated 2/12

Group Buys - Updated 07/23

Several multiplayer Steam games are available in 2-packs or 4-packs. These packs offer a discount over buying multiple copies of a game separately. We also maintain group buy trade threads for several games, so please use those threads if you're interested in setting up a group buy.

Free Stuff

There are several free games and mods on Steam. These are a few choice ones; you can find a full list here. Note that free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.
Past Special Sales

Visit www.steamgamesales.com to check previous sale prices on Steam games. We do keep track of some older sales here though:
Steam Retail Key List

What is a CD key and where can I find it?

The CD Key is a serial number with a combination of 13, 18, or 25 letters and numbers - it can be found on a sticker inside your game's case or printed on the game's quick reference card.
The CD Key acts as your proof of purchase for the game - Steam Support may ask for it if you need to establish your ownership of an account. It is recommended that you keep your CD Key in a safe place to ensure the security of your account.
Can someone clarify what the Magic 2012 dlc is?

I believe someone said that most of it is stuff you unlock anyway or just foil version of the cards. So would the only dlc worth getting be the expansion?
Deck Pack 1 also provides new content (two new decks).
I asked this a few days ago but I want to get Fallout 3 GOTY and was told it'd be easy to get it for $10 at some point. It's only $15 now and I was wondering if it's worth the risk to wait? I probably don't need to play it for a few months.
It will most likely hit 10 or below in the holiday sale. I'd wait. Even if doesn't it will at least be the price it is now.

Just wait till the holiday sale since you aren't going to play it right away. Worst case, it will be the same price then. More than likely though it could be a daily deal for $10 or under.
Some great deals today.

Dead space 1 + 2 are well worth the cash. I have ds2 on ps3 and I am still tempted to buy it but then I remember they will never release the dlc on pc.
Yes, both Dead Space games are great.
I got them both on the PC.

I'd buy divinity two but I already have both dragon ages, both witcheries and sky rim to play through.

I was all set to buy dungeon defenders on the last day but now I'm unsure. It looks like they added a ton of paid dlc and the community seems completely split as some of the dlc adds classes that have advantages over the free ones.
Div 2: DKS is easily worth the $10 - since it's original ED Remastered [better balances, fixes, tweaks]
and contains the very good Flames of Vengeance expansion.

Grabbed:

The Witcher - 2.49
Eschalon Book 2 - 5.00
Delve Deeper + DLC - 1.37
Faerie Solitaire - 1.00
Runespell - 2.50

Total of 12.36, not bad! Managed to hold of on the big deals since the holiday sale is coming up and I have some games I need to finally finish. (Looking at you Mass Effect 2)

How does gameplay of Div 2 compared to other major RPGs? Es, witcher, da, etc? I was reading one person compare it's scale as closer to fable than ES.

Thanks for the Fallout 3 advice.

I just did some research on Dead Space 2 PC. It has bad anti-aliasing but you can force better AA with Nvidia Inspector. The drawback is you have to reduce shadow quality to get that to work. Thought I'd mention it here. I didn't read anything about ATI cards cause I don't have one.

http://www.bit-tech.net/gaming/2011/02/04/how-to-enable-aa-in-dead-space-2/1

Hmm another site says you can keep high quality shadows but you have to use a reduced AA in Nvidia Inspector and it produces some white edges on things.
thats a really nice price, for a pretty fun little game

My haul considering I don't buy anything else today or get tempted to, lol.

Chantelise
Faerie Solitare
Fallout DLC- Old World Blues
Limbo
Sequence
Witcher Enhanced Edition
Unreal Tournament 3 Black

Final Damage- $21 for 6 games and one DLC.

Not a bad haul. :D
Tempted at Section 8 Prejudice. Wonder what it's online community is like.
havent played in a while but it was scarce. the game does fill with bots though.
Well steam is gonna get some $ from me shortly. Got some non daily deal stuff to pick up. I blame utopianmachine for adding to my wishlist with all the great recommendations. Whether she knew she was recommending games or not :)
Heh, helping CAGs spend their money, that's me! What'd you end up getting?
Sweet! Not a recap, Magic 2012 is $4!
Pretty stoked about that myself. My husband wants that new deck pack for MTG, so I'll be getting that for him.
Well, it's the last day so it's time to post your final haul:

- Fallout New Vegas + 6 DLCs
- Orcs Must Die + 2 DLCs
- Puzzle Quest: Galactrix
- Trials 2 Second Edition
- Delve Deeper + DLC
- Faerie Solitaire
- Capsized
- Runespell Overture
- Breath of Death/Cthulhu double pack
- Shatter

Price: $39 for 10 games and 9 DLCs.
I adore your selections. :applause:

And now for the final haul
Fallout New Vegas: Gun Runnders' Arsenal - 0.99
Deus Ex Human Revolution (Amazon) - 19.99
Red Faction: Armageddon (Impulse) - 7.49
Sin Episode 1 - 3.00
Faerie Solitaire - 1.00
Dungeon of Dredmor - 2.49
Demolition, Inc - 2.49
Gundemonium Bundle - 4.99

Total of 42.44. Had a loose budget of $50, glad I didn't shoot right past it like in past sales.
You know what would be really cool is if instead of doing a CM sale they started the Christmas sale already. They usually do the Christmas sale for like 2 weeks anyways, so why not start the sale now and do a "30 days of Christmas sale" starting on the 28th and ending a few days after Christmas.

Edit - And yes I know thats a pipe dream ;)
Div 2's combat does feel more like Fable games, yes.

Div 2 is nowhere as open-world and free-roaming as say the ES series.
It's more similar in the roaming aspect as say Witcher 1 and 2.

Witcher 1, Witcher 2, and DAO are all better than Div 2: DKS.

Thank you for the info. Looks like I'll pass on it.

I restrained myself pretty good through this sale - helps that I have so many games to begin with, so not toooo many temptations.

Orcs Must Die! + DLC
The Witcher
Rainbow Six Vegas
Dead Space 2

Aaaaand that's it.

I've been trying to beat back my backlog while I have the chance (yay Thanksgiving break!), and tackled the Penumbra series this weekend. I played Amnesia last year when it went on sale for like $10 or something, and even though it's been cheaper since, I have no regrets. The Penumbra games were just as excellent, but now I'm really ready for something more cheery and colorful. Back to the Future Episode 2 here I come! I also fired up VVVVVV this morning, and had a bit of fun with that.

My grabs:
Might and Magic All DLC
Civ V all DLC
Runespell
M&M Clash of Heroes
Runespell
Dungeon Def + all DLC
Orcs Must Die + all DLC
Cathulu Saves DBL Pack
Still on the fence for Alice, DarkSpore, & E.Y.E all of which are %50 off atm.

Got the four pack for Dungeon Def (my son and I made 2) where is the Steam trade area? I have two more I need to get rid of.

Dead Space 1 and 2 are good but I couldn't bring myself to finish Dead Space 2 on xbox. The games have so many repetitive environments. At some point I just felt like they kept copy and pasting parts over again. But for that price it's worth getting. They do create a lot of tension. Story isn't a strong point in these games though.

Thanks, it sounds good but with all of the games mentioned in my backlog I have no need for another.

Hey, does anyone think that Alice will get any lower than 15? The only reason I think it may not is Ea and Valves current relationship. any help is appreciated.

Well, this is the first sale that my backlog (and paycheck) have really kept me from buying a lot. I have so many unplayed games that unless it was under $2 per game, I wasn't buying (which means no Runespell, no Magic, no Capsized, no Dungeons of Dredmoor, no Demolition Inc, no Thief, etc).

So here's what I did get:
Faerie Solitaire - $1
Bullet Candy - $1
Critical Mass - $1.25
Oddbox (4 games!) - $3.74
Limbo - $2.49 (Ok, it was over $2, but RollingSkull was so mean to it, I had to buy it to comfort it)
Orcs Must Die! DLC - $1.63

Total - 8 games and 2 DLC for $11.

That's some cheap shopping
Hey, does anyone think that Alice will get any lower than 15? The only reason I think it may not is Ea and Valves current relationship. any help is appreciated.
It will drop at some point. There isn't any dlc for it and it didn't do too well. it's only a matter of time.

The only reason I didn't finish DS2 on PS3 is I got scared! I think the story is pretty good and I love both games. Best horror games around in my opinion.
Wow this is weird last day of sales is usually a recap of best deals.......
That's only the case for the two sales that last longer than a week. Shorter sale events don't need to waste time on a recap.

My haul:
Duke Nukem Forever (gift)
Orcs Must Die! + all DLC
Limbo
Civ V DLC
Runespell: Overture

Not a whole lot. There's plenty more on my wishlist I could grab on sale today, but I can wait the month and expect to do no worse.
Heh, helping CAGs spend their money, that's me! What'd you end up getting?

Got Orcs Must Die + DLC

And about to pick up
Fairy Solitaire
Dungeon Defenders
Runespell Overture
Dungeons of Dreadmor
Chantelise

unless i find some more stuff

That was my thought as well. I was worried about 2 things, it going down for the Xmas sale or EA removing it completely.

Need some opinions on these games, I can't get them all.

Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth $5
Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit $10
Syberia 1 & 2 $7.50
realMyst $3 (Never played Myst but I'm guessing this is the version to get if you never played it before since it's the most updated)
Riven: Sequel to Myst $3
Saints Row 2 $7.50
Trials 2: Second Edition $2.50
Arx Fatalis $2.50
Unreal Tournament 3 $5 (Already own from Gamersgate but barely played it)
Rock of Ages $5
After a long conversation with my husband yesterday about controls in PC gaming, I'm giving this PC gaming thing a try. You know. Playing a game that controls with the KBM. Started Vampire The Masquerade this morning. And you know what? Shit's cool. :D
Utopian, have you tried Portal 1 and 2? They are great KBM trainer games. You get the full First-Person experience, but since they're puzzle games, not action, everything happens at a very slow pace. There's a little timing involved at the end, but even those, you can work at your own pace.

PS- Welcome to the side of Reason and Enlightenment! \\:D/ :applause:

Just Limbo and Trauma for me this year. Less than $5 total. I'm still on the fence about Call of Cthulhu. I want it, but my backlog is such that I won't play it anytime soon. If someone were to tell me that it was just a little 8-10 hour adventure, I might bite.

I'm surprised that Civ 5 DLC wasn't 75%. Really surprised. Hopefully it'll go deeper at Christmas.

I am bummed because I snoozed too long on a monitor I wanted, and it sold out. That was going to be my big Black Friday purchase for myself. Hoping for a great Cyber Monday sale, and if not that, there's always Boxing Day.

Id say get it now. Its never really on sale
Need some opinions on these games, I can't get them all.

Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth $5
Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit $10
Syberia 1 & 2 $7.50
realMyst $3 (Never played Myst but I'm guessing this is the version to get if you never played it before since it's the most updated)
Riven: Sequel to Myst $3
Saints Row 2 $7.50
Trials 2: Second Edition $2.50
Arx Fatalis $2.50
Unreal Tournament 3 $5 (Already own from Gamersgate but barely played it)
Rock of Ages $5
NFS: Hot Pursuit = Pretty good arcade-style racing game. Playing as the cops is a lot of fun.
Saints Row 2 = A lot of fun, if you can get the game to run well. It's a WAY more fun and outlandish GTA type of game. Though, its story is nowhere as good as any of the GTA's since Vice City.
Arx Fatalis = A pretty good first-person dungeon crawler. Never finished it, but really did like what I played, quite some time back.

UT3 = Awesome online MP-based competitive shooter. I don't know why you want to buy it again, if you already have it from Gamersgate. I don't know how the community is now, but back when I was playing it, some few years back - damn, a lot of the players playing were namely hardcore players and REALLY good.

Syberia 1 + 2 = Never finished S1, but I did like what I played. Never touched S2.

I actually just finished Syberia 2. These games are beautiful, and you can beat both in 15-20 hours total. You really need both because the first is only half the story. The story itself is wonderful, and the art is fantastic (even in low res). There are a few puzzles that you'll feel like you haven't been clued in on, and finding items is occasionally a pain (If and when you look up where to find something, you'll often say "I swear I looked there!"). All that being said, they are considered classics for a reason. $7.50 is definitely a fair price.
Just Limbo and Trauma for me this year. Less than $5 total. I'm still on the fence about Call of Cthulhu. I want it, but my backlog is such that I won't play it anytime soon. If someone were to tell me that it was just a little 8-10 hour adventure, I might bite.
It's 8-10 at most. Might be shorter. And the best part is at the beginning. If you only play through the chase scene, it's worth 5 dollars.

Quirky game, has some bugs, but is oozing with creative ideas.

My Haul:
Mass Effect 2 $5
Oddbox $2.50 (traded Runespell for it)
Witcher 1 $2.49
Ghost Recon Pack $7.49
Rainbow Six 3 $2.49
HAWX $2.49
Divinity 2 $9.99
Dead Space 2 $4.99
Dungeons of Dredmore $2.49
Total: $39.93
Saint's Row 2 is on sale for $5.08 on Amazon and it activates on Steam. Go buy it.
Doesn't that game run horribly on the PC due to poor optimization by the developers?

The second had issues but I think they are largely either fixed or eclipsed by better hardware. The Third runs smoothly though. A few of us are selling The Third discounted in the steam trade thread.

Looks like it's Dead Space 2, HAWX, and Faerie Solitaire for me. Usually I spend a lot more on these sales, but there just wasn't much for me this time. That's not to say the sales were bad, I just already had most of what I wanted. That, and my 200+ backlog makes me especially stingy anymore.

Waiting on the big sale now. There's some indie games I'm hoping go on sale so I can buy and never play them, and the achievement treasure hunts are always a highlight for me.

yes, if you don't patch it. a guy calling himself idolninja patched the technical problems with the game fully, and then also added in literally THOUSANDS of new items for customization, new guns, new cheats, and I believe even a few new vehicles. get it, patch it, enjoy. Also, get it for a friend - co-op in this game is the best way to play it.
