Welcome to the Steam Deal Thread V2! You can find the V1 thread (2010-July 2011) here. Read post #2 of this thread for Steam FAQs and more.

This is a Wiki post. Please read this
We appreciate you helping keep this thread up to date. The sales change virtually every day so no one person has the time to update them all. If you notice a game is no longer on sale, feel free to delete its line from the sale list. Of course, if you see a game is on sale, add it to the list. Make sure your changes match the thread's format! For example, every game that's on sale is part of an unordered list. When adding a game to the list, copy an existing line and update the link, title, and prices. That way, the format stays correct. Do not list percentages off! We list the original price and the sale price here. If you have any suggestions for major changes to the post/thread, PM me (EastX) about them.
for instructions on updating the thread.

Steam Games and DLC on Sale - Updated 2/12

Preorder Deals - Updated 2/12

Group Buys - Updated 07/23

Several multiplayer Steam games are available in 2-packs or 4-packs. These packs offer a discount over buying multiple copies of a game separately. We also maintain group buy trade threads for several games, so please use those threads if you're interested in setting up a group buy.

Free Stuff

There are several free games and mods on Steam. These are a few choice ones; you can find a full list here. Note that free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.
Past Special Sales

Visit www.steamgamesales.com to check previous sale prices on Steam games. We do keep track of some older sales here though:
Steam Retail Key List

What is a CD key and where can I find it?

The CD Key is a serial number with a combination of 13, 18, or 25 letters and numbers - it can be found on a sticker inside your game's case or printed on the game's quick reference card.
The CD Key acts as your proof of purchase for the game - Steam Support may ask for it if you need to establish your ownership of an account. It is recommended that you keep your CD Key in a safe place to ensure the security of your account.

This bundle has sold ridiculously fast. It could be that steam couldn't keep up. From their support for the "Failed to Contact Key Server" error:

Possible Causes

Upon trying to launch a third-party title on Steam, you may experience this error. The most common causes of this issue are listed below:
If the game is a recent release, or was purchased during a sale

While we do our best to anticipate demand from our users, occasionally we may run out of keys to provide for your purchase. When we are out of keys, this error will appear. You will be issued a key as soon as we have been given more by the game's publisher.
Is the average price on that indie bundle likely to go down or do they usually keep going up?
I would not count on it going much lower. The games you get by paying more than average are too good to pass up for the majority of people.

Besides, ~6 dollars for all those games is a steal anyway!
Is the average price on that indie bundle likely to go down or do they usually keep going up?
They do usually fluctuate, but with so many copies sold I can't see it going under $5 or even $5.10. I mean isn't this usually where they are at when the bundles have a day left? This thing is selling like mad and it hasn't even been 24 hours.

Quick, someone go buy 1,000 copies for $0.01 to get it down to $3.00!
Looks pretty half-assed. =/
Anything after Humble Bundle 4 would be half-assed, but yeah, it's not particularly great. I heard good things about Explodemon though, so I think I'll get it just for that.

Yeah if I didn't already have Explodemon on PSN I'd be more willing to buy the bundle.. but there's only 1 game that activates on steam and I'm not all that interested in the other games, besides Serious Sam.

Too bad Humbe Brony keeps upping their donation. Although if you watch the total payments you can see a lot of people donating .01.

And that is just how amazing this bundle is. Even with the ability to donate $.01 they reached $1,000,000 in less than 24 hours.

I got King's Bounty Platinum (Roughly Two games and an expansion) for $8. Needed something while on the road for my laptop.

Hopefully, the Telltale complete pack will be on sale during the Christmas Sale - I've intentionally not purchased any Telltale games in hopes of getting the whole package.

Its smart to do so. It is usually around $50 and you get all of their games.

Yeah, really hoping Jurassic Park and Back to the Future is in it.

I don't know about the PC version but I was really disappointed by the PS3 version of Jurassic Park. It just felt like I was going through the motions and the payoff wasn't worth it. I also had a really hard time reading the on screen prompts on my TV from the couch. I was hoping for a Heavy Rain type game but the motions were no where near as intuitive or well thought out.

From what I've heard the PS3 version is the only one with difficult to read prompts. They looked absolutely fine on my PC hooked up to the TV with a 360 controller. I imagine the 360's prompts are pretty similar to what I saw.

But, yeah, the game part has issues. It's like Heavy Rain but not as good. Still, I had fun with it and I think it's worth picking up in a sale if you like Jurassic Park.

hmm kinda want to get in on a Demigod 4 pack

I never played the game cause it was plague with problems at launch due a lot by pirates playing the multiplayer

Alright folks, I wanna have a chat about Demigod.

Before the League of Legends/Dota 2/Heroes of Newerth hubbub started up, there was Demigod. Demigod was going to be (as far as I know) the first modernized DotA style game out there. They didn't keep it the same though, the game is drastically different. We'll get to the actual gameplay later.

So, Stardock/GPG had these huge plans for Demigod. New heroes, new maps, constant patching, the works. They also didn't want to tie down the game with annoying DRM, so while you bought it through Impulse, the game had virtually no DRM. It seemed like the perfect recipe for success! Unfortunately, GPG/Stardock went in to the thing a little too hopeful of the gaming community. About 95% of users hitting the server were illegitimate copies, and because they weren't expecting this many players to be hitting the server, they went down from stress. While you could play single player, this clearly wasn't the point of Dota style games. Because of these issues, the game got pretty crushed by reviews. This killed sales, which in turn, killed the prospects of supporting the game for years to come with new content.

As for the game itself, I personally think it's pretty good. It's much different than the modern DotA clones, more like a game of chess than an instanced action RPG. Much less twitch based fighting. The game is also drop-dead gorgeous. The maps are just amazing looking, and the heroes have really interesting designs (Rook remains my favorite character, visually, in any game.)

In terms of how the gameplay is specifically different, you've got a more Battlefield style control point system, but still the same bases/towers system of DotA. The points you capture give you various bonus (Extra gold per minute, extra exp gain, higher mana regen etc.) and focus the battle to key points. You can also capture mob spawners, but none of them are permanent like destroying barracks in DotA. What is permanent are upgrades. Instead of choosing to deck out your hero, you can dump your cash in to minion upgrades, tower upgrades, all allied hero upgrades, and that sort of thing. That adds a lot of diversity to what you buy, something I wish other MOBA's would adopt. As for balance, it's been a while since I played. I haven't got much to say there.

My verdict is going to be "buy it." I hope adding it to Steam will revitalize the community, but I kind of doubt it. I'm still telling you to buy it though because that's the only way it'll actually repopulate the community.

Anyway, there's my long winded love-fest for Demigod. The game's just downright cool, and I'm really sad to see how it turned out for them. I hope they get more out of it by releasing it on Steam.

Is anyone else having a hard time connecting to steam right now? I have tried rebooting several times but my friends list still wont come up and my status is offline.

Yep, she's on again off again. Looks like they're doing some hefty maintenance. This is one of those times where I worry that all my eggs are in one basket.

The website is also telling me that my password is incorrect. That had me scared!

This is probably the worst downtime I've experienced with Steam. It's down for 15-20 minutes and then it's up for about 15 seconds before it goes down again. Sucks.
The website is also telling me that my password is incorrect. That had me scared!
Happened to me too the other day.....I was *crapping* my pants in fear. Not cool, with the recent forum break ins etc. My steam account is probably one of the more expensive things I own.

My Steamguard and account e-mail is exclusively synced to my smartphone and only accessed with that device and never my main computer. So, if I get a keylogger or any other virus, my Steam account is completely safe.

Now would be a good time to slip in a PSA: CONFIRM YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS. People can't even log in, let alone change the password of your account if you confirm your email. It boggles my mind how many people I see not doing this. Not to imply y'all haven't, but just in case.
EDF:IA is not worth your time or money
I disagree to an extend. Maybe on the computer it is not, but on console, playing two players co-op split screen is probably the most fun I've had on the 360.

Oh good, it isn't just me. Steam's been wonky for the last couple days, but the user forums say that they're doing some maintenance to improve stability.

Also grabbed Just Cause 2 download from Amazon since it's doubtful that the holiday sale price will be cheaper.

Any chance the Monkey Island Pack will go on sale during the Christmas Sale? Not quite sure since it's one of those games that isn't discounted that often.

EDIT: Regarding the Steam issues, notice the steep spikes in the "logged in" users on the front page. Lol...

I purchased the Monkey Island Complete Pack on 10/16/2010 for only $5 - so it's been on sale for a bit less. However, it seems more likely that the Telltale Complete Pack will go on sale instead of individual titles (though Sam and Max often make a daily deal for these sales).

Tomb Raider Guardian of Light is $2 over at Amazon Digital and it activates on Steam. That's about a 85% discount and I don't think it could go much lower at the Holiday Sale. If it does it wont be much seeing it's already at $2.

Thanks for this, hoping it'll go daily or drop to that $5 price again. ;)
