Welcome to the Steam Deal Thread V2! You can find the V1 thread (2010-July 2011) here. Read post #2 of this thread for Steam FAQs and more.

This is a Wiki post. Please read this
We appreciate you helping keep this thread up to date. The sales change virtually every day so no one person has the time to update them all. If you notice a game is no longer on sale, feel free to delete its line from the sale list. Of course, if you see a game is on sale, add it to the list. Make sure your changes match the thread's format! For example, every game that's on sale is part of an unordered list. When adding a game to the list, copy an existing line and update the link, title, and prices. That way, the format stays correct. Do not list percentages off! We list the original price and the sale price here. If you have any suggestions for major changes to the post/thread, PM me (EastX) about them.
for instructions on updating the thread.

Steam Games and DLC on Sale - Updated 2/12

Preorder Deals - Updated 2/12

Group Buys - Updated 07/23

Several multiplayer Steam games are available in 2-packs or 4-packs. These packs offer a discount over buying multiple copies of a game separately. We also maintain group buy trade threads for several games, so please use those threads if you're interested in setting up a group buy.

Free Stuff

There are several free games and mods on Steam. These are a few choice ones; you can find a full list here. Note that free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.
Past Special Sales

Visit www.steamgamesales.com to check previous sale prices on Steam games. We do keep track of some older sales here though:
Steam Retail Key List

What is a CD key and where can I find it?

The CD Key is a serial number with a combination of 13, 18, or 25 letters and numbers - it can be found on a sticker inside your game's case or printed on the game's quick reference card.
The CD Key acts as your proof of purchase for the game - Steam Support may ask for it if you need to establish your ownership of an account. It is recommended that you keep your CD Key in a safe place to ensure the security of your account.

Note: Only the retail games listed above can be registered through Steam. No other retail games can be registered and downloaded using Steam.
Yeah it was and it was $5 summer sale where I picked it up then.

Also KOTOR was $2.50 summer sale. Just saying.
It was also $5 in September.
Worst day of the sale thus far IMO.
For anyone who's following Steam a lot, the deals on games that haven't seen (m)any deals are pretty lame for today. I suppose someone who didn't already own the SS HD's, GTA series, or KOTOR might be excited...

For me, only Sanctum catches my eye and I'm not sure about it. Pretty disappointing, but I remember last year was full of meh sales on Thanksgiving/BF and the real deals showed up during Christmas/New Years sales.
Skyrim is 22% off at Greenmangaming, is there any chance that Steam will put it up for cheaper before this sale is over?
Any opinion anyone gives you would just be a guess.

Sanctum was in the Indie Royale Bundle for $3. Came with three dlc for it too.

Yep. King Arthur was 90% off, and now it's being offered for 75% off.

I picked up Serious Sam HD Double Pack before the price on that changes. You never know with Steam...
Dang I was hoping Space Marine would be a lot cheaper. Guess I'll wait for the Christmas sale.
yeah me too. is it still $25 on amazon? thats on the cusp of being the right price for me.
Skyrim is 22% off at Greenmangaming, is there any chance that Steam will put it up for cheaper before this sale is over?
Yes. There is a greater than 0 probability this will happen, so there is a chance. In all likelihood, it won't happen, and if it does it will be 25-33% off. How much is that potential $1.80-6.80 worth to you compared to playing what a lot of people are considering their runaway GOTY?

Also, for those interested in BF3 from Origin: does not include the Karkand expansion, which will run you another $15 on release.

Flight Control HD is a ton of fun, but one of those games that would be better on a tablet/touch device.

Yeah, not much for me today, mostly because I own a lot of the games I'm interested it. Bought the BTTF disc for PS3 for the same price, so the price is good. Already own KOTOR, GTAIV, King Arthur and Flight Control HD.
I'm looking for an educated guess.
yes there is a chance for more than a 22% discount by the holiday sale.
I'm looking for an educated guess.
But what information would be educating the guess?
Hmm. I think if Greenman fixes my region problem in time (displaying in British pounds) I'll bite on the 22% off Skyrim deal. Thanks.
If you search for Skyrim on the site they have 3 versions... US, EU, UK. Only the UK one is on sale. Even then, it still costs more than what you could get it for in USD on Amazon right now (assuming you are in the US.)
But what information would be educating the guess?
Experience from past sales and Steam history? I don't know, I'm new to PC gaming and people in this thread are always talking about the likelihood that certain games will be on sale or not and at what percentage off.

3 days in and I've only bought DLC. Kind of disappointed, really was hoping to see Dungeon Defenders by now. I hope it shows up at all.

Gonna wrap up the Sanctum DLC I don't have for 1.24. Game's been good to me, I'm happy to pay that pocket change for some more of it.

Oh I didn't realize that. I'm in Canada but I can get it at Direct2Drive for 20% off so that's better than Amazon. Thanks.
I know Missing link is worth picking up what about the other two deus ex dlc packs?
I was just about to ask if Missing Link is worth it for 7 bucks

FYI everyone who wanted Deus Ex, Amazon is dropping the price to $19.99 shortly on their website. It is steamworks so it activates on team. Save $5

Edit looks like missing link will be 7.50 there as well for those with credit.

Dungeon Defenders is already 50% off (and definitely worth it at that price). Doubt you'll see it for less than that, though I suppose it is possible.

I did the same, I believe the Gold Edition is also on sale for 90% off ($3.99). I got the double pack, already have the classic versions on disc that I got a few years ago from Big Lots, lol.

Well, it's not so much the core cost, but when these things go on sale, the DLC follows suit. Since I'm late to the game, there's like an additional $8 of DLC out there right now that's actual gameplay content. A nice 66-75% off discount would bring that down a fair amount.

Thanks for the tip, might just pick it up there when I get home.

That's for the digital download, or the physical copy?
I wanna get my brother a copy, but he's still not sold on buying digital downloads. Converting him slowly.

It's the digital version. Just grabbed it myself.

Is the missing link worth the $7.50 or should I just wait for when it inevitably goes on sale again for the winter sale?

It is digital but no matter where you buy it requires steam.

On the fence about Deus ex dlc. The two packs I think I'll get, but I am not sure about missing link, it might get a better discount in the winter. :/ tough call

I guess the F: NV + DLC will have to wait for the winter sale or a recap on the last day, as I had them in my cart and forgot to check out before I went to do something else. :dunce:

Im tempted by Dead island, but i may have to wait longer. Also very disappointed in Space marine ive had my eye on that game for sometime, a $20-25 would have been instabuy for me, i guess ill be waiting till the christmas sale...

Bought the KA, Sanctum dlci didn't own. I bought the two deus ex dlc in a pack for $1.99 waiting on amazon for the missing link.

Also found a weird rid bit for missing link. It is a completely separate title in your steam library and launches separately.

Anyone thinking about Serious Sam might want to shell-out the $3.99 for the Gold Edition as it gets you the classic versions as well as the HD remakes. (the classic games are great for laptops/netbooks and the original version of TSE has the wacky gravity stuff that the HD version of TSE lacks)

I love how Croteam made it so that the TFE HD levels are integrated into TSE HD so you only need to install TSE HD.

It's more the issue of losing out on the box and the manual for him. I had the same hang-up initially too, but the savings on going digital turned me around.

If I can't sell or lend it then it's all the same to me. I never read manuals anyways and the case goes to a drawer and I never open it again.

I used to have that problem. Then I started to run out of shelf space for games.
Did somebody say GMG had Skyrim for 22% off? Where?
Turned out to be UK only. It's still 20% off at Direct2Drive with their coupon.

That is one thing I am considering about Skyrim, since I could use the map.
