Welcome to the Steam Deal Thread V2! You can find the V1 thread (2010-July 2011) here. Read post #2 of this thread for Steam FAQs and more.

This is a Wiki post. Please read this
We appreciate you helping keep this thread up to date. The sales change virtually every day so no one person has the time to update them all. If you notice a game is no longer on sale, feel free to delete its line from the sale list. Of course, if you see a game is on sale, add it to the list. Make sure your changes match the thread's format! For example, every game that's on sale is part of an unordered list. When adding a game to the list, copy an existing line and update the link, title, and prices. That way, the format stays correct. Do not list percentages off! We list the original price and the sale price here. If you have any suggestions for major changes to the post/thread, PM me (EastX) about them.
for instructions on updating the thread.

Steam Games and DLC on Sale - Updated 2/12

Preorder Deals - Updated 2/12

Group Buys - Updated 07/23

Several multiplayer Steam games are available in 2-packs or 4-packs. These packs offer a discount over buying multiple copies of a game separately. We also maintain group buy trade threads for several games, so please use those threads if you're interested in setting up a group buy.

Free Stuff

There are several free games and mods on Steam. These are a few choice ones; you can find a full list here. Note that free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.
Past Special Sales

Visit www.steamgamesales.com to check previous sale prices on Steam games. We do keep track of some older sales here though:
Steam Retail Key List

What is a CD key and where can I find it?

The CD Key is a serial number with a combination of 13, 18, or 25 letters and numbers - it can be found on a sticker inside your game's case or printed on the game's quick reference card.
The CD Key acts as your proof of purchase for the game - Steam Support may ask for it if you need to establish your ownership of an account. It is recommended that you keep your CD Key in a safe place to ensure the security of your account.

Riddick is awesome...the DRM, however, is not. :whistle2:(

Notice: After activating the game for a third time TAGES will start a 30-day timer. After 30 days you will get that activation back up to 3 total activations.
That is one thing I am considering about Skyrim, since I could use the map.
I eventually got a cheap monochrome printer last Black Friday for the sole purpose of printing any manuals I might want to.

Yeah my eyes light-up whenever it goes on sale and then I remember about TAGES.

It's one thing to lump DRM on top of the DRM that is Steam as that's more of a personal principles argument but when you use a DRM scheme which has been linked to ruining hardware then I'm out before I even get to the personal principles bit.

I thought Starforce was the one that was linked to hardware problems.

Also, surprised that there haven't been as many people misplacing their group requests here this saletime around. Either that, or a hat-tip to the mods for keeping things tidy. Cheers!

Sadly, there are several schemes which have been linked to hardware issues (disc drives or otherwise) and/or rootkits.

If I'm not mistaken TAGES has access to ring 0 level of the hardware, being able to do some nasty things. Not going to install that crap on my system.

Buy it! Super fun old school FPS with great graphics. Can't go wrong for that price. I own it so
three days into the sale, I am disappoint. Maybe Cyber-Monday will blow our minds!

Thanks! I think I will.
I guess the F: NV + DLC will have to wait for the winter sale or a recap on the last day, as I had them in my cart and forgot to check out before I went to do something else. :dunce:
We're going to see which one of us regrets New Vegas more

Mine was in my cart and I remembered to check out right before the new sales went live

I'm betting I'll regret it more lol

Man, this is my first huge Steam sale. I picked up like 10 games on the Halloween sale. So far in this bigger sale, I've only bought Orcs Must Die! And Zeno Clash. My wallet is crying. I might just go ahead and pick up some of those indie games for $1 though...
Well, at least it's only a month til the awesome Christmas sale.
Less than that, actually. It probably will start up in a couple of weeks.

I know it's asked regularly, but what's the best site for tracking Steam pricing? I was thinking of picking up Sims Medieval at the end of this sale, but I was gonna check if there's any chance of Sims stuff getting a bigger discount than 50%, based on past history.

For $4 you'll get your moneys worth. They get boring well before you beat them but the shooting action is decent enough.

Does anyone recommend the Augmented Edition of Deus Ex over the standard edition? The standard edition is $20 on Amazon right now, but if the Augmented Edition is worth it, I'll just go ahead and get that instead.

Seems like the biggest thing in the Augmented edition is the art book...which I assume is just a crappy PDF or some such nonsense.

I was thinking the soundtrack would be nice, since the music sounds Blade Runner-esque, but if the music is all ambient, then that might not work as good listen-to-this-while-working music.

Well, so far I have bought nothing on the Steam sale yet. However, I have my eye on some titles. The daily deals have either been games I already own or just not enough of a discount. However, if this was my first Steam sale I would probably be near the red in my bank account.
Anybody doing any Dead Island 4 packs? Im in or would be willing to start one up!
Would definitely be interested in getting in on a 4-pack.
I'm not asking for much. Just Sims content 75% off, is all. ;)
People other then girls and kids play the Sims? OOOOO thats right you are a girl ;) Heh I kid because I love Jess!

I wouldn't mind adding Knights of the Old Republic to my collection though I'm concerned as I've read mixed things about getting it to run properly on windows 7 64 bit. On the fence.

Might just hold off for today though and see what gets offered tomorrow.

I bought Dead Island this morning for :360 to play with a friend, so there's no way I can get it on Steam, too; not until it's more like $10. Oh well. Orcs Must Die will tide me over.

Interesting... I had bought GTA IV a couple of years ago. I always lamented after that that I didn't buy the complete pack with "Episodes". Well, checking it out today, I found out it actually does have "Episodes" with it. Now I really feel like I got a bargain, since I bought it for $5. (It is going for $10 on Steam today.)

I have that set up, and KOTOR runs perfectly fine on my system.

Knights of the old republic never gave me any trouble and I run Windows 7 64 bit. I have read about some people having issues, but I've read about it working for plenty of people too.

Does anyone know if Back to the Future has sold for any less than $10 on Steam? I checked the past sales link that someone posted earlier but had not luck finding that game in the list.

It's never been cheaper (it's still pretty new), and there's a 99% chance it will never be cheaper as TellTale games tend to maintain their pricing. Even their older series won't hit much below $12-15. If you want it, you might as well get it now. There won't be any "dammit, I could have saved X dollars" moments coming.

The steamgamessales site has been changed I think and doesnt include a Price History.

As far as the price, it was 9.99 not too long ago as a Midweek or Weekend sale. Before that it was like $12 during the Summer Sale. So yeah I think 9.99 has been the lowest on Steam.

They had a 75% sale off over the summer for their 7th anniversary. Just about everything on the site was included. I assume that BttF wasn't part of it as it was probably around the time that it came out. There's a chance they may do it again next year. Unless, of course, you just mean Steam prices. I think there's a better than 1% chance it will be cheaper on Steam in the next year, but in my opinion $10 is a good price for anyone who wants to play it anytime soon.

Any one know if there is a dead island buying group? I didn't see a link on the opening page and the search feature didnt bring it up

EDIT:Found the thread...

Yeah, I should have clarified that I meant on Steam only (for those of us who are OCD about library consolidation). There's a chance on it being cheaper at some point in the future. Tales of monkey Island hit $5 once in some crazy super sale, but every time it has been on sale since, it has been $12 and up. I just wouldn't hold my breath too long if you're waiting for that on Steam. It's a good game at a good price.

Thanks for the responses.

Definitely going to snag it up and give it a shot. Fingers crossed hopefully won't even have to tweak anything to have it run properly.

My husband plays it as well. I'm currently having fun with a couple of green, alien-ish Sims. :D

hmm tried to purchase Warhammer: Space Marine from THQ, checked out and it told me my order was being processed and would be notifyed... Thats was 5-10 mins ago...

I'm trying to get in on a 4-pack for Dead Island but it seems like everyone's asking and no one's hosting. I NEED to join in instead of host, because I'm looking for a cheap 11 euro american version instead of buying it solo for 25 euros.
Not sure if this was mentioned yet but THQ is having a sale on their site. Spacemarine is 25 and looks like it activates on steam.

Link

You can also preorder Darksiders 2 for 25.

Link
Does THQ charge for preorders? I am tempted to get a Darksiders 2 preorder and then decide if I want to keep it but only if they don't charge me the full amount.
