We appreciate you helping keep this thread up to date. The sales change virtually every day so no one person has the time to update them all. If you notice a game is no longer on sale, feel free to delete its line from the sale list. Of course, if you see a game is on sale, add it to the list. Make sure your changes match the thread's format! For example, every game that's on sale is part of an unordered list. When adding a game to the list, copy an existing line and update the link, title, and prices. That way, the format stays correct. Do not list percentages off! We list the original price and the sale price here. If you have any suggestions for major changes to the post/thread, PM me (EastX) about them.

What is a CD key and where can I find it?

The CD Key is a serial number with a combination of 13, 18, or 25 letters and numbers - it can be found on a sticker inside your game's case or printed on the game's quick reference card.
The CD Key acts as your proof of purchase for the game - Steam Support may ask for it if you need to establish your ownership of an account. It is recommended that you keep your CD Key in a safe place to ensure the security of your account.

Opposing Force CD-keys cannot be registered through Steam. Opposing Force was included in a retail Half-Life package. The Half-Life CD-key included in the package will unlock all of the games in that package, including Opposing Force.

Price drop or sale? It's already 50% off, though it might go on a daily for a slightly bigger discount, who knows.
 
Did the E.Y.E., Jamestown, and the And So It Moves achievements. Three more piece of lovely coal which now brings me to 13 pieces of coal, a 25% Valve coupon, a 33% Skyrim coupon, and HL2 Deathmatch. Hurray for crappy luck!

Hoping to get someone to trade me for a game for that coal. Crimecraft is downloading now, I figure what else am I going to do next week?

Just bought Hard Reset (Really wanted to support these guys for bringing a PC Exclusive game and other stuff). I need to quit looking at this sale I am never going to finish my backlog at this rate.
 
Any verdict on Hard Reset? It seems like it could be decent, but I tend to shy away from shooters far off the beaten path, as they tend to be kinda lame.

Agreed! I get pretty frustrated with them games, and it's difficult enough to ENJOY, but not maddening. Although I only did the first two chapters a few times, and was able to do chapter 1 on difficult.. ....and there's like 3 more difficulty levels.. lol

I decided to bite on Skyrim. I had a $25 Amex giftcard from my boss, so Skyrim came out to $15 and some change. I guess I can't really beat that, considering it's brand new.

Though I I ran my system through "CAN U RUN DIS".. it's about halfway between "minimum" and "recommended".. so hopefully I don't have a hard time with it... (will be getting better PC soon. Curse money. Curse it)

It feels like an old school shooter from the late 90's early 2000's. I mean it's still modernized but it has that classic feeling where a shitton of enemies come at you and you have big, fun weapons to kill them off.

It's defiantly worth $5 if you like the old style of shooters.

Not sure but the one from amazon was cheaper $2.99 and came with all DLC from what I've seen (played the ColdStrike campaign). I Still have yet to see Santa and shoot his ass down! The achievement isn't even in the game's list of achievements (glitch?).



Skyrim for sale!!! Woo. But still $40. To buy or not buy...with Deus Ex already taking up my time. That is the question

i just kept playing normal saving random civilians were i could he randomly flew by me drops a present an i was done

Hard Reset kinda bored me. It felt pretty lousy compared to Serious Sam, which to me feels pretty lousy compared to the classic shooters.

got the crimcraft loaded, but this game fucking sucks and is impossible to get 200 points in. I've done several snowbrawls and usually 1 or 2 out of 8 might get the points.

Glad to have that achievement done. Was pretty easy, small map, no other weapon only snowballs that 1 shot people. Points stack I got the achievement to pop after my second game. I recommend rebinding the snowball to a more convenient button it defaults to F1 also spacebar makes you summer-salt, good for avoiding snowballs.

Also you do not need to be level 8 I did it on a level 1 newly created character.
 
Ugh. Tried to get the And Yet It Moves one, but I can't finish the first level to get to the second where the achievement is. I keep rotating the world the wrong way. :(
 
Skyrim! You surprise me! This is kind of difficult for me though. I just bought RAGE under the assumption that Skyrim wouldn't get a discount anyway and that would buy me time to wait it out.

And now... now I still wonder if I should buy it. I mean... there's still so much to play. But it's sooo tempting...

Oh well I can probably wait untill the end of this sale. I'm sure Skyrim, being as popular as it is, will end up in the recap for sure.

Keep in mind they didn't have a recap for the Thanksgiving sale and a lot of people were surprised at that. Although I think there will be one for this holiday sale, you never know. Ok....I'm also trying to push Skyrim because its all kinds of awesome! :)

The rotation also seemed backwards to me, but it's pretty easy to get the achievement once you get used to it.


I decided I'm not going to bother with CrimeCraft or Rusty Hearts because I figured it would be too hard to be worth it when I'm not going to play them ever again. The others aren't bad.

As for the other F2P objectives (I know there are other guides, but whatever):
(Note: if you're going to reply, don't quote this entire post. You can edit quotes, you know.)

Champions Online
You have to finish the tutorial which might take up to an hour, but once you reach level 5 choose flight as your travel power and fly around looking for gift boxes. They spawn fairly often, but they won't always give you the "winter presents" you need.

Once you grab 10 presents (I needed 11 apparently), use them on random people. They stack, so drag the pile into a spot in the rightmost quickbar on the bottom of the screen ("devices" or whatever). The quickbar location will be labeled with C1 or something similar. Click on someone, then press Ctrl and whatever the number is. You should see a cheering thing if you did it right.


Spiral Knights
You can't get into Lockdown until you reach the Rescue Camp, but even then you probably won't have enough crowns to enter (you need 200). You'll have to Google the best way to gain crowns.
The Lockdown map is random, but if you happen to find yourself good at Lockdown you'll get over 200 crowns per game. The map you're looking for is Frostbite, and after running forward a bit you should see a group of snowballs to pick up. You'll probably see everyone else going for them, so right-click the snowball to pick up, then right-click an enemy to hit him with it and get the achievement. I got it on the first try, but i don't know how glitchy it is.


Rise of Immortals
This could take an hour depending on how good everyone is. Pick a character (I read Ichorr, seemed to work ok) and enter the hub. Select Tomb of the Old One for a 3v3 PvE so you don't have to deal with players on the other team.
The goal here is to get 10 assists, and in order to get an assist you need to do damage to an enemy immortal before a teammate kills it. Killing an enemy creep or your creep killing an enemy immortal do not count.

The two people I played with were also new and just going for the objective, so none of us were particularly good (two Ichorr and one...uh, shuriken lady, Kyrie?). Getting assists wasn't much of an issue, but getting immortals to die at all was a pain because they kept running away. We constantly died but eventually won in the end with two of us getting the needed assists.

For items, I'd recommend the stone that reduces the death cooldown timer when upgraded and items that increase attack strength (maybe health/mana increase) because you want to hit hard to kill enemy immortals faster.

I believe that is the exclusive pet you get from Amazon. I know Steam has exclusive TF2 themed items or something. Also a Portal gun.

Just a heads up. I am not going for Skyrim during this sale, but I AM looking for a good Bethesda/Skyrim coupon, and I'll trade coal for it, maybe even a game. I'm trying to get a 50% off one, actually.

it shouldnt have been surprising, it was a comparatively short sale. id anticipate a recap on xmas day for the first week.

You can change switch the rotation keys in the settings. I did that when I first played, and then realized that I made even more errors after i switched. So I switched it back and eventually got used to the way it controls by default. It's ann OK game, not great, but stick it out 'til world 3 where it gets really hard and the soundtrack gets awesomely funky.

BTW I received "Sol Survivor" for my AYIM achievement! Woo woo! A game I'm not interested in, but it feels nice to not get another danged coupon.:roll:
