Welcome to the Steam Deal Thread V2! You can find the V1 thread (2010-July 2011) here. Read post #2 of this thread for Steam FAQs and more.

This is a Wiki post. Please read this
We appreciate you helping keep this thread up to date. The sales change virtually every day so no one person has the time to update them all. If you notice a game is no longer on sale, feel free to delete its line from the sale list. Of course, if you see a game is on sale, add it to the list. Make sure your changes match the thread's format! For example, every game that's on sale is part of an unordered list. When adding a game to the list, copy an existing line and update the link, title, and prices. That way, the format stays correct. Do not list percentages off! We list the original price and the sale price here. If you have any suggestions for major changes to the post/thread, PM me (EastX) about them.
for instructions on updating the thread.

Steam Games and DLC on Sale - Updated 2/12

Preorder Deals - Updated 2/12

Group Buys - Updated 07/23

Several multiplayer Steam games are available in 2-packs or 4-packs. These packs offer a discount over buying multiple copies of a game separately. We also maintain group buy trade threads for several games, so please use those threads if you're interested in setting up a group buy.

Free Stuff

There are several free games and mods on Steam. These are a few choice ones; you can find a full list here. Note that free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.
Past Special Sales

Visit www.steamgamesales.com to check previous sale prices on Steam games. We do keep track of some older sales here though:
Steam Retail Key List

What is a CD key and where can I find it?

The CD Key is a serial number with a combination of 13, 18, or 25 letters and numbers - it can be found on a sticker inside your game's case or printed on the game's quick reference card.
The CD Key acts as your proof of purchase for the game - Steam Support may ask for it if you need to establish your ownership of an account. It is recommended that you keep your CD Key in a safe place to ensure the security of your account.
Sonic 2 Game Gear was a fucking bitch! I never beat it and never could beat the part where run down a cliff and hang glide.
When I was a kid, I know I played that game a ton of times, but I, too, could never get past that hang glider.
That is the only part I remember from the game. Nothing fun, just that bloody cliff jump. If it were my game gear and not a friend's, it probably would have ended up smashed.
I think I beat that game, but can't remember this part exactly. Is this in the second stage or another moment further on with the glider?

Yeah, bit on binding of isaac yesterday. Definitely different. I missed the good sale on this one due to holiday vacation. Not the only one I missed. Ill definitely have to install steam on my wifes laptop next time im away during the sales.

Just order through the website. No need for the client to buy games. Heck I ordered a few on my iPhone.

One warning is that Steam may block your purchases if you try to order while using an out of country IP address. This happened to me while I was travelling and trying to buy stuff from last Thanksgiving's daily sales.

I saw some comments saying one could contact Steam support to allow the purchases, but I was afraid I'd miss out on the daily deals. Luckily I was able to remote desktop into my home machine to make the purchases.

If that does turn out to be the Valentine's bundle it'll continue my streak of not buying an Indie Royale bundle! Might end with the Alpha Fund bundle if there's anything interesting.

Ah, good to know. There are a few I missed out on, killing floor for one. Bought it anyways with a 50% off coupon. Seems there were more. day of defeat source too, but its cheap enough, plus I have a 50 % coupon for that too. :)

Not entirely new to steam, but getting back into it after a long hiatus thanks to ps3 portal coming with a free pc copy. Seems like the service has come a long way.
Indie Royale just put up a Serious Sam Lightning Pack.
Steam keys for Serious Sam TFE*, TSE*, DD, and TRE.
Available for 100 hours.

No HD is really disappointing. For people who want to go old school probably is a good bundle. Not for me though ...

I've wanted Random Encounter since it came out.

Already have the HD Serious Sam's, but the other two indies make this worth four bucks for me.

Daily deal is Titan Quest Gold for $5 if you haven't already picked it up the other two dozen times it was on sale. No midweek deal yet... might be a sign of a possible publisher promo near the end of the week... or just that they're late on putting up a mid week deal. I've seen them go up as late as Wednesday.

Ended up checking a wtf is on Serious Sam The Random Encounter and that game looks awesome so I bought the Serious Sam Pack.

Also opinions on how broken From Dust is. I might consider it for $5 if it's not too broken.

I wanted From Dust but all the bug complaints scared me from the PC version. $5 seems like more than I'd like to pay as well. I would like some thoughts as well. Anyone have a coupon that applies to it they would be willing to trade?
Even at $5 I've heard bad things... especially with the notorious Ubisoft DRM or was that removed?
Heard it was removed a while back. Used a 25% coupon to get it for 3.75, which is a nice price point for it.

I have written many, many times about Titan Quest Gold. That is one hell of a great game and the fan community at TitanQuest.net continue to serve the game well. That includes an unofficial bug fix patch which in light of Iron Lore's closing years ago, is quite beneficial. One of my favorite PC games ever.

Agreed. Anybody that hasn't played it and is looking for something to hold them over until Diablo 3 would do well to pick it up.

That's why I'm buying it. I'm in the d3 beta but it's just not scratching the itch I have.

I'm in the beta as well but you can only play the same content so much before it gets boring. They did just go to patch 10 though with the changes Jay Wilson talked about so I'll probably fire it up again and check them out.

TQ Gold is epic. If you like loot, RPG's, epic stories, or just clicking things till they die, buy it. I could always use some more people to play with, so PM me if you want a Steam buddy. :D

I agree, without HD it's not worth buying IMO. Serious Sam HD Gold has been on sale a few times before at $4 on steam.. and Double D has been free before. I think the only games I don't have from this are The Random Encounter (which was only $1.24 on Steam during the holiday sale), and the bonus games (Kamikaze Attack and the Greek Encounter) which I know nothing about.

There's a good possibility they'll add the HD versions as bonuses though.

Looking for somebody in the US to help me with regional pricing for From Dust.

Send me a PM if you can help please :)

Edit: sorted now, thanks to those who offered. :)

Tried Serious same Double D and The Random Encounter.

These answer the question what if Serious Sam was a 2D Platformer and a Old School RPG from the classic PC/Console era. The answer is pretty cool, especially since they still can throw shitloads of enemies at you and still keep the gameplay in check.

Pondering whether to use my 33% Ubi coupon on From Dust, or saving it for another title. I've also heard a few negative things about it.

We're about 3/8 of the way through the coupon period and I'm rather disappointed. Last year we had a few publisher sale weeks, and I truly hope we see those again before the expiration date.

Spot on, mate. I really enjoyed TQ- sunk about 100+ hours into it as a bonecharmer.

Also, the fan community(titanquest.net) is very helpful with any build or gear questions I had.

I've heard absolutely nothing good about From Dust.

I kinda want the original Serious Sams. I bought in early like a dumb sap and only have the HD versions. It'd be nice to have the originals.

From Dust has a 79 Metacritic rating. I think that speaks to its quality. The only big negative I heard on it was the DRM if thats a deal breaker for you. Personally, i couldn't care less. Bought.

I bought TQ Gold on D2D a couple years ago, but I'll be happy to re-buy on Steam once (if) it gets cheaper. Excellent game, though. I really need to start playing it again.

can anyone confirm whether or not From Dust supports the 360 controller for windows? doesn't say it on the steam page, but i can't imagine why it wouldn't seeing how it's on XBLA as well. thanks.

edit: nvm, found it listed under recommended requirements instead of the usual steam sidebar.

I think this is going to be the first Indie bundle that I don't buy. No HD = no thanks and I don't really like FPS to begin with anyway. I already have Double D and Random Encounter is cheap during the Steam sales.

The HD games have pretty much killed off any clamoring there might have been for the original Serious Sam. But still, if you can't run the HD games well there's absolutely nothing at all wrong with them. They do hold up very well for games that age and they're still very fun to play.

I got From Dust when it came out and enjoyed it. It's short, but it can be pretty fun. I think the two most important things to know about it are

1) the uplay Ubisoft DRM. I don't know if it still has the always online crap, but you do still have to use the Ubisoft service.

2) It's a very simple game. It's not like Black and White where you have freedom to choose (more or less) how to handle a level. It's a puzzle game with clearly defined solutions. It just so happens that the mechanics for doing so are novel.

5 dollars is a good price in my opinion, although some of you seem to have more stringent standards than me. Just remember it's more puzzle than strategy.

TQ Gold is awesome! Must play for anyone looking for something to hold them over until Torchlight 2 and that little title called Diablo 3 are released.

I've been a fan of the Serious Sam series for a long time. The originals are really meant to be played in a LAN setting with the per-player enemy multiplier on. I'm considering kicking in for the bundle just to get the new indies, since I've got everything else by now.
