Welcome to the Steam Deal Thread V5! You can find link to past threads at the bottom of this post. Read post #2 of this thread for Steam FAQs and more.

This is a Wiki post. Please read this
We appreciate you helping keep this thread up to date. The sales change virtually every day so no one person has the time to update them all. If you notice a game is no longer on sale, feel free to delete its line from the sale list. Of course, if you see a game is on sale, add it to the list. Make sure your changes match the thread's format! For example, every game that's on sale is part of an unordered list. When adding a game to the list, copy an existing line and update the link, title, and prices. That way, the format stays correct. Do not list percentages off! We list the original price and the sale price here. If you have any suggestions for major changes to the post/thread, PM me (EastX) about them.
for instructions on updating the thread.

Preorder Deals - Updated 10/28
Group Buys - Updated 8/14

Several multiplayer Steam games are available in 2-packs or 4-packs. These packs offer a discount over buying multiple copies of a game separately. We also maintain group buy trade threads for several games, so please use those threads if you're interested in setting up a group buy.

Free Stuff - Updated 4/3

There are several free games and mods on Steam. These are a few choice ones; you can find a full list here. Note that free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.

Steam around CAG

If you are interested in joining the Steam CAG Community or participating in a trade or group buy with fellow Cheap Ass Gamers, please do so in the dedicated threads and not in the deal discussion thread. In the dedicated threads you will find CAGers with the same specialized interest who will be much quicker (and happier) to respond than in the Deals thread.

Steam Retail Key List

What is a CD key and where can I find it?

https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=7480-WUSF-3601

The CD Key is a serial number with a combination of 13, 18, or 25 letters and numbers - it can be found on a sticker inside your game's case or printed on the game's quick reference card.
The CD Key acts as your proof of purchase for the game - Steam Support may ask for it if you need to establish your ownership of an account. It is recommended that you keep your CD Key in a safe place to ensure the security of your account.

OT (well, maybe not, this is the steam thread): Why hasn't anyone mentioned that @goatse.cx email addresses will be available soon?
If you're lucky, you mean. I'm still waiting on Gamefly to provide downloads for quite a few of my D2D purchases.
Sorry to hear! They had all few of mine, though I made backups before D2D went bust. The general consensus I got from SD back when was that most titles were available.
I recommend it. I had a good time, although I found a bit of frustration in one of the chapters. My girlfriend, who plays about 1.5 games per year, and I played it together and she really got really sucked in, which is rare. The only bummer is that the episodes get released pretty far apart. As far as I know it's just the two guys and the animation style doesn't make for quick work.
Thank you for your 2 cents, I've happily snatched the bundle :)
I don't mind waiting a little if the title is as charming as it seems... plus, I've gladly triple-dipped Anomaly, which I think is a really cool concept for a strategy game that I wish was explored some more!

After several false starts (including two Xbox 360 purchase/trade-ins), I'm FINALLY getting into Dragon Age: Origins. This is classic BioWare - slow start, big battle, humnaity is screwed, only YOU can save the day.

I think I'm gonna like this. :)

It looks huge, but it's only four games. I wish it had more of what I wanted. Still may go in if it's $5ish.

This is clearly a joke. Every Humble Bundle (going back to the grand-daddy Wolfire Bundle) has had the games released on Linux, Mac, & WinDO$ and has been DRM-FREE. If this is real it would imply that they are working on Linux & Mac ports of those games. Do you see that as probable?

I'm holding out for the Humble Bundle for Android version of it. :D

I still have a hard time believing that that is true. If it is though, I guess I'll be in if the price is right. Especially if there are individual keys for the games.

This does raise the very real prospect that THQ might go under very soon, though. I thought for sure they'd stagger on for another 6 months at least. But now I'm starting to wonder if they'll still be around come the new year. I have already decided to prioritize buying Lucasarts games in the upcoming sales (because I don't trust Disney to keep the games in the store now that they own lucasarts). Looks like I should add any remaining THQ games that I don't already have to my shopping list. Lord knows how much longer I'll be able to buy them.

The site that was linked to shows what's in the Steam registry. It's listed on another site as well. Of course as a sub package that means it will be one Steam key for everything that you see listed, not individual keys.

THQ is getting really desperate. I don't know, what is possible or not for them now, but I think Humble Bundle, as a company, can afford exception of having windows only bundle, just to cut something from millions $, that this bundle can earn in 2 weeks.

I forgot to note in my post that Humble Bundle is also very much about DRM-FREE.

The two tenants of Humble Bundle are:
 1. Cross-Platform
 2. DRM-FREE

I know people want to be hopeful about this, but I don't see why Humble Bundle would go against what they stand for to run the "THQ Bundle". THQ could just run a firesale on their store and keep all the desperately needed money. Among the indie bundles, IndieGale or Groupess would make far more sense. Humble Bundle has never included big company titles.

How do you explain the registry then? The registry is pretty much legit.
How do you explain the registry then? The registry is pretty much legit.
Fair Question. As I stated I think it's a joke. They know people monitor it, so they decided to have some fun. I could be wrong. Those registry entries aren't set in stone. I just see no reason for Humble Bundle to violate what they stand for, and they have a solid track record.

I think THQ could come through with DRM-Free games. Of all the things Humble Bundle usually does they can meet this point.

Plus, why do publishers use DRM? Usually they say to stop piracy. If THQ is no more and doesn't control any games they'll have nothing to lose by having some (older/very popular) games in the wild DRM Free.

Thing is, THQ is going down. Why would they joke about this?

A couple of the games on that list use steamworks though. No real way around that.

So either this was all some cruel joke at THQ's expense, or the Humble guys are gonna have to wave their policy regarding DRM-Free & linux/mac versions.

lol.... humble and thq are well run companies... they don't post ghost things in the steam registry to troll a few gamers.

Looks like THQ is trying to raise cash ASAP in all ways possible. Hopefully it works and keeps them afloat. I never really considered the DRM Free thing of humble serious, they do give out steam keys with everything after all...

HIB 6 launched without Mac or Linux versions of Vessel. Two months later, they still aren't available.

I can imagine a Humble THQ Bundle with only Windows builds to start and Mac and Linux builds to follow. I don't think this is all so implausible.

Jokes like that don't require official backing, just someone with the right password. Humble Bundle didn't start giving out steam keys until mid-way into HiB #2. But it is always available DRM-FREE.

Side note: They also didn't always have the torrent download available after, that was a response to people pirating HiB claim slow http downloads due to server load.

Taking in consideration THQ currently situation i don't know how much are they willing to start doing Linux and Mac versions of their games now.

It's not the first time the ports haven't been completed before the bundle launch. The Vessel port is being worked on. It is certainly the longest though. They have also included games in alpha. Hell, they even once included an never-finished windows-only prototype (as a soundtrack-like bonus), Claw, iirc.

Aren't there some games like Torchlight 2 that are always Steam EXCEPT when you buy from the developer's website? Maybe it was OMD, I don't remember.

This could be the name of a cheap bundle sold on Steam for a fixed low price during the next sale. Who knows?

Yep. The Waling Dead is also the same. Drm-free from developers, steamworks everywhere else.
Jokes like that don't require official backing, just someone with the right password.
Jokes like that can get people fired, and with a company in THQ's financial situation are absolutely the kind of thing that should not be done. The odds of this being a joke are small enough they shouldn't be considered, to be honest.
Btw nem humble bundle with a twist

Interesting. It seems like 2.0 of the Humble Bundle MoJam from Feb.

"Contributors get to download the finished prototypes for Windows (Steam keys too!)" seems weird. When do prototypes get steam keys? Betas yes. Will the protypes be polished into released games? Will you get those? They really could use to clarify.
Do you think the charity will be "keep thq afloat"
Could be. Not sure if charity is a 100% requirement for HiB, but there is always a pretty significant developer tip given Add to that any tax benefits from the "charity" for all the games THQ gave away and there are plenty of benefits to be had for the company.

Password for what exactly? So a rogue employee is just trying to play a cruel joke? If jokes were that easy and passwords were handed out so easily, I don't this would be the first joke we'd have gotten.

King Arthur II from GameStop is a notable non-steamworks version. Crusader Kings II from GamersGate is DRM-FREE and steam everywhere else (barring minor retail in Europe). Another that I just forgot.

The funny thing with Torchlight 1&2 is that you are better off with the steam version if you want both Mac&Win versions, since the direct-from-dev versions are single platform.

Password into the system to create a steam entry. I see it as more funny than cruel, subjective certainly.

Oh, you will. It's fantastic!

Sorry to hear! They had all few of mine, though I made backups before D2D went bust. The general consensus I got from SD back when was that most titles were available.
If I were smart, I'd have downloaded mine before the switch too, but I figured, "Eh, what's the worst that could happen?" Famous last words.
Have you checked your Gamefly client recently? All my D2D purchases are now available for
download through the client except two (Time Gentlemen, Please! & Ben There, Dan That!)
which are available for download directly from the Gamefly website under D2D Downloads
in my Purchase History.
I check it pretty routinely. I'm missing several items that I didn't download before D2D changed over, including Battlestations Midway.

You will get the prototypes. If you buy it now you get a key for Costume Quest prototype, that is different from the finished Costume Quest.

Bah and I just bought Metro for $2! Would be pretty hilarious to see a THQ bundle. I'd guess Space Marine would probably be the BTA. SR3 sells good enough on its own.

That's how I read it too. Doesn't make a great deal of sense to me. ...prototype apathy kicking in. Besides I already bought the Prototype Pack on Amazon last week! :D

Oh yeah, you went there.

There are WAY too many deals. I'm gonna miss something!
So far though I have my eyes first and foremost on cheap PC Dishonored from gamefly! Also still waiting on a Max Payne 3 deal from Tony. I forgot how time intensive these forums get around these sales. lol.
If there are any really sweet deals on FTL or Hotline Miami but those'll probably be 2.50'ers for me or bundles.

Same reaction from me except Red Faction Armageddon. I doubt SR3 would be involved with this in any way, especially with the new Full Package (or whatever) edition coming out soon.
