Welcome to the Steam Deal Thread V5! You can find link to past threads at the bottom of this post. Read post #2 of this thread for Steam FAQs and more.

This is a Wiki post. Please read this
We appreciate you helping keep this thread up to date. The sales change virtually every day so no one person has the time to update them all. If you notice a game is no longer on sale, feel free to delete its line from the sale list. Of course, if you see a game is on sale, add it to the list. Make sure your changes match the thread's format! For example, every game that's on sale is part of an unordered list. When adding a game to the list, copy an existing line and update the link, title, and prices. That way, the format stays correct. Do not list percentages off! We list the original price and the sale price here. If you have any suggestions for major changes to the post/thread, PM me (EastX) about them.
for instructions on updating the thread.

Preorder Deals - Updated 10/28
Group Buys - Updated 8/14

Several multiplayer Steam games are available in 2-packs or 4-packs. These packs offer a discount over buying multiple copies of a game separately. We also maintain group buy trade threads for several games, so please use those threads if you're interested in setting up a group buy.

Free Stuff - Updated 4/3

There are several free games and mods on Steam. These are a few choice ones; you can find a full list here. Note that free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.

Steam around CAG

If you are interested in joining the Steam CAG Community or participating in a trade or group buy with fellow Cheap Ass Gamers, please do so in the dedicated threads and not in the deal discussion thread. In the dedicated threads you will find CAGers with the same specialized interest who will be much quicker (and happier) to respond than in the Deals thread.

Steam Retail Key List

What is a CD key and where can I find it?

https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=7480-WUSF-3601

The CD Key is a serial number with a combination of 13, 18, or 25 letters and numbers - it can be found on a sticker inside your game's case or printed on the game's quick reference card.
The CD Key acts as your proof of purchase for the game - Steam Support may ask for it if you need to establish your ownership of an account. It is recommended that you keep your CD Key in a safe place to ensure the security of your account.

Heads up that if you wait for a Happy Hour group buy, you can get the BTA bundle for $1.50-$2. Just pop over to this thread and look for a group.

I absolutely loved Skies of Arcadia back in the day. Perhaps my favorite Dreamcast game.

As much as I loved Shenmue at the time, I can only imagine that it feels really stiff and outdated today.

I played Skies of Arcadia on the Gamecube, and it was one of the most fun experiences I've ever had playing a game. If it came out on Steam, I'd buy it again in a heartbeat to play through.

I have both Psychonauts and Stacking on Steam, so if I win this, I would like there to be a danceoff to determine the winner of these two awesome games.

I filled up, but Mink-e is hosting too, I've bought off of him before so he's a good guy.

@Sunasun I usually charge by the minute for dances.

It supported my Xbox 360 controller with 100% no setup whatsoever. Controls exactly like the ..well..xbox 360 version. Which controls almost pretty much like the Dreamcast version because the Xbox is just a mature Dreamcast right RIGHT!?!?

(I digress. It's a really good PC Port actually.)

The new episode of DFA is out, and it paints a tense picture. I hope they pull it off. It seems like it will be an increasingly hard bottleneck to have Bagel paint EVERYTHING. It didn't seem like that decision early on would have such consequences.

I'm sure it will be awesome regardless, but if it starts looking like they're getting too tight, I'll just throw some money at them with an additional pre-order or so. ;)

I would say there is a chance that Grandia 2 will be released on Steam since there was a PC version released around the time it was put on the PS2.

I am quite happy tony hawk pro skater HD has hit steam. Do you all think that it will hit 2.50 by the time this winter sale rolls along? I really want the game and would play it immediately even if I paid for it right now. The only problem is my current backlog. I dont feel any game is worth more than 5 dollars at the moment.

I would guess no, that it wouldn't hit that low that fast, but obviously I have no real idea.

It should hit $5 in the Winter Sale no problem ($6 if they're really stingy about it, and $3.33 if they're really generous). I wouldn't expect a $2.50 price point until the next Summer Sale.

The Tony Hawk port is a hatchet job anyways.

I would not expect it to hit 75 percent off for a long while simply because it's an Activision game, they don't seem to like that price point too much.

Like others have said, probably not. $2.50 or 75% is generally a good bet if its a game that has seen a Steam sale already.

Makes sense, at 4.99 I may be a buyer. But I still doubt it. I have close to 100 games in my backlog now, so spending any more than 5 bucks would seem like a waste. The most I have spent on a computer game is 24.99 on "Spec Ops: The Line." Was a good game but now that I know that they quickly drop in price, I will hold off on buying the next one for a while.
I think I'm good man but how exactly does that work?
Basically it's buying in bulk. One person buys a mass amount of copies of the bundle, and it ends up being $1-$2 a copy. The host of the bulk buy distributes the gift URLs to your keys and downloads.

So I almost got Faerie Solitare on my third device today ($1.25 on Steam, Free on iOS). I was gonna buy it until I saw it was almost $7 for my Nexus 7. I love Faerie Solitare but not that much. I also have free google marketplace money so it would of been free to me but still not going to buy it for $7.

I saw that Company of Heroes 2 is now available for pre-order, with a twist:

http://store.steampowered.com/app/55300/

Looks like they're doing a kickstarter-like pre-order bonus. Strange, but it could work out well for them I think, given the love for TF2 hats. There is also a free game up for potential pre-orders, as well as some sort of bonus in-game currency. :)

That is pretty interesting. I like seeing publishers playing around with preorders and trying new things outside of the exclusive DLC if you preorder at x place. I loved CoH so I was going to preorder this soon anyway.
I like this idea of getting free games with preorders, but I already have the game they are giving away.
I think you get a gift copy you can trade/sell/gift if you have the game in your library.
Daily Deal is X-Blades for $4.99

Is it any good?
The game is pretty lackluster imo. It was also part of an amazon bundle for $15 with a bunch of other games not too long ago.

The game itself is a standard action beat-em-up game. I would say save your $5 for something else myself.

I enjoyed Blades of Time ($10, steam summer sale). I want to pickup X-Blades for $5 or less. X-Blades seems to have a 3-activation limit (the same topware DRM goodness as TwoWorlds). Apart from the Steam Daily, GamersGate has X-Blades for $4.95 ($4.20 w/IGN) and boasts a key replacement policy similar to Amazon. Imo, the $15 Amazon bundle wasn't that compelling beyond X-Blades and TwoWorlds (which can be had at $5 each).

Well today is the first time in my life a game I preordered is going straight into the backlog without me even touching it. I am looking at you Torchlight 2.

Glad to see it's finally coming out, but I might just wait for the Mac version so my GF can play (she has a Macbook, and no HD space to install windows), she did get in on a 4 pack with me though. That and I have a huge ass backlog already determined,.

Wish T2 came out in the summer like Mid July when I wasn't playing D3 anymore and not now when I have Borderlands 2.

Glad you found some enjoyment out of that game. It was a doomed project that somehow found light.

My feelings exactly.

I needed a RPG at that time and some how I found myself stuck in SWTOR. Now I can't give up SWTOR and BL2 is my mix up.

This is probably my plan as well, since I never bit on the preorder promo. My brother's going to want it when the Mac version becomes available, so I'll probably wait for the first sale price on it and get a 4-pack then.

Not sure what I would have done with extra copies of TL1, but now that that's gone, I don't feel any incentive to buy immediately. At least, until people start talking in this thread about how great it is...

or Guild Wars 2 in my case...

All right, why is this thread on Page 2? Shame on all of you.

By the way, for those that consider Blades of Time [currently] too expensive, just purchase X-Blades, the spiritual predecessor, for $4.99 and get a nice demonstration of Topware Interactive's game design prowess.
Basically it's buying in bulk. One person buys a mass amount of copies of the bundle, and it ends up being $1-$2 a copy. The host of the bulk buy distributes the gift URLs to your keys and downloads.
