Welcome to the Steam Deal Thread V5! You can find link to past threads at the bottom of this post. Read post #2 of this thread for Steam FAQs and more.

This is a Wiki post. Please read this
We appreciate you helping keep this thread up to date. The sales change virtually every day so no one person has the time to update them all. If you notice a game is no longer on sale, feel free to delete its line from the sale list. Of course, if you see a game is on sale, add it to the list. Make sure your changes match the thread's format! For example, every game that's on sale is part of an unordered list. When adding a game to the list, copy an existing line and update the link, title, and prices. That way, the format stays correct. Do not list percentages off! We list the original price and the sale price here. If you have any suggestions for major changes to the post/thread, PM me (EastX) about them.
for instructions on updating the thread.

Preorder Deals - Updated 10/28
Group Buys - Updated 8/14

Several multiplayer Steam games are available in 2-packs or 4-packs. These packs offer a discount over buying multiple copies of a game separately. We also maintain group buy trade threads for several games, so please use those threads if you're interested in setting up a group buy.

Free Stuff - Updated 4/3

There are several free games and mods on Steam. These are a few choice ones; you can find a full list here. Note that free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.

Steam around CAG

If you are interested in joining the Steam CAG Community or participating in a trade or group buy with fellow Cheap Ass Gamers, please do so in the dedicated threads and not in the deal discussion thread. In the dedicated threads you will find CAGers with the same specialized interest who will be much quicker (and happier) to respond than in the Deals thread.

Steam Retail Key List

What is a CD key and where can I find it?

https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=7480-WUSF-3601

The CD Key is a serial number with a combination of 13, 18, or 25 letters and numbers - it can be found on a sticker inside your game's case or printed on the game's quick reference card.
The CD Key acts as your proof of purchase for the game - Steam Support may ask for it if you need to establish your ownership of an account. It is recommended that you keep your CD Key in a safe place to ensure the security of your account.
Back when I started seeing sales, it was amazing all the stuff for $4.99. Now I own all that stuff. Lately, prices seem to have been dropping faster on new games and I've been thinking "Wow, that $59.99 game is $18 already? Sold!" so I own those too.

Really, there just isn't a lot of A-List material left that I don't already own so I guess it's harder to get excited. That's not anyone's fault, just the way of things.

That said, the actual Steam sales haven't been that amazing compared to those from other places.
:applause:
How do you guys shit on this sale so much? Of Course it's not going to be amazing with the winter sale around the corner. Even with that there have been some good deals.
If its anything like last year....it will be the same games at the same prices...maybe a few different ones..but mostly the same if i recall.

How have we not seen Borderlands 2 down yet? I already own it on my 360, but I have just recently done a major PC upgrade and would rather play it on my PC. Unfortunately, I've kind of set my artificial price ceiling at $25 right now since that would essentially mean that I paid "full price" when added to what I paid for the 360 one. Assumed Steam would AT LEAST MATCH Amazon, but right now they are being beat by $15.

Wait for it to be a daily, there's still at least tomorrow left (maybe sunday as well). Also, remember that it's steamworks, so buying it on amazon will just give you a steam key anyway.

I said it before, but the Thanksgiving sale has always been a little weak in comparison to the Summer and Winter sales. And yes, there is a lot of competition for Steam's customers that didn't used to exist. That being said, it is a good time to be a PC gamer.

Part of me is kinda glad that the sale has been a bit lackluster. I had a budget of $700 set aside to buy stuff that I needed this Black Friday. So far I've spent $600 of that. Mostly all on stuff to upgrade my computer. I've only spent $2.50 so far on games (Star Wars KOTOR 2).

I still have a few more things to buy, so I'm not gonna have all that much left from that remaining $100.
Yeah, it's a good price for it being semi recent, but I think I want it to hit that $3.75 before I buy it. Gotta make that wallet stretch.
Yeah especially consdiering it's hit 50% already, shouldn't be too long before it's at 75%

Quite true.

Having said that... another round of nothing for me!

Was excited to see Trine complete collection at 75% off then disappointed when I saw that Trine 2: Goblin Menace DLC is only 50% off.

Puzzle Kingdoms is under $2. Is it as good as Puzzle Quest? PQ is one of the rare games I own that I actually played- though it was on the iPad so it doesn't really count. I probably wont actually play PK, so it shouldn't matter if it's good or bad. But, I don't want bad games tainting my library.

PK isn't that great but it's ok if you like the genre. Personally my favorite is Might and Magic: Clash of Heroes. I'd wait for a better sale though.

Did you note that they take an additional $1 something off of the bundled total so actually if you were to count that they're all 75% or darn close.

I picked it up during this last summer sale.

That game was fun. A match game with loot collection and a passable story is a good recipe.

I've got Trine 1 and Trine 2. I'm holding out on playing Trine 2 until I pick up the DLC. If I knew they were planning on making DLC for Trine 2 I would've held out on buying it.

Been doing a lot of my shopping on Amazon during this BF with the $5 coupons. Pretty much everything I bought activates on steam anyway, but I did finally buy Company of Heroes and KOTOR2 for $2.50 from Steam.

Most of the games I'm somewhat interested in have been the same price in every sale for the last year and a half, but Amazon is really doing a good job at getting me to pull the trigger despite my backlog. Magicka & Dungeon Defenders for $2.50 each + a $5 promo code? Normally I'd just wait since it seems like those games are on sale nearly every week, but I couldn't resist.
For people that have been through it, is the Winter Sale far more enticing then this sale? I've heard conflicting reports.
It's larger and longer. So you'll probably see more discounts since there's more inventory on display so to speak at any given time. I don't know if they'll be a lot deeper -- I wouldn't expect Skyrim at 75% off or anything but some prices will drop simply because it's a month from now. But if you're newer to the sales, the larger nature of it may mean you see some neat stuff. For example, a staple seems to be Batman: Arkham Asylum for $4.99 or so. If you don't own it, it's a great game for that price. If you're a bitter old crank like me, you say "OMG Batman: AA AGAIN?! This sale sucks, where's Skyrim for two dollars?!" :D

They've been trying new stuff with the sales so it's impossible to say for sure any more. This past summer they started doing fewer Daily Deals and a bunch of flash sales and voting for sales. This current sale, they've changed the "flash" sales to all be 12 hours instead of 4, 6, 8 and 12 hour sales. Who knows what they'll try this winter.
It's larger and longer.
That's what he said.

Another significant difference is that on the Autumn sale you can pretty safely skip any games you're not going to play right away -- unless it's old and rarely on sale, like Silverfall (see history).

Winter Sale has a bit of the "stocking up" to last till the Summer Sale (Though Amazon brought on some good deals in January last year.)
For people that have been through it, is the Winter Sale far more enticing then this sale? I've heard conflicting reports.
Yes. The Winter Sale and Summer Sale are the two big events on Steam each year.

Though I will say Steam's competitors are fast becoming the place to consistently find the attention-grabbing sales in terms of discount.

Metro 2033 is $9.99 and crysis is $6.99. Anyone that's familiar with the winter sale, do you think these two games will be there at an even lower price?

Metro is $5 constantly and was even cheaper in the THQ bundle. Isn't it also in the upcomming Humble Bundle too? May want to hold out for a much cheaper price there.

Crysis, prob lowest it will go solo. The pack is the way to go. (lowest it's gone is $4.99, could hold out for the full 75% off sale possibly during the winter sale)

You can get Metro for $2 or less if you check the CAG steam trading thread

So is this the price point low for SR3 Complete that everyone was talking about that was on during the Summer Sale? Think I'll have to cop

It was a little bit more and had one or two DLC variations. This one is a buck cheaper and I think comes without the Unlockable DLC (which is sort of pointless, anyway... and breaks the game if you actually want to earn stuff legitimately).

still hoping for a 75% off on ys games. i am sort of tempted by the saints row 3rd mega pack but think it will be cheaper next month. or maybe next summer.

really, the base price on the saints row will drop, it might take a year or 2(or 3). eventually fallout 3 goty was $5, oblivion was $5 etc

even if i buy nothing else, i am happy with $2.50 kotor 2 and $7.50 gods and kings for civ v

yes, i am going to wait for it to be cheaper
Will that Skyrim from Microsoft activate on Steam?
Yes it's Steamworks so the PC version requires Steam no matter where you get it from, even box retail.
Thanks for Skyrim Microsoft.

Skylanders and Old Republic CE with the friggin statue are $9.99. I know it's not Steam but crazy deal is a crazy deal.

Diablo III is back to the crazy Toys R Us $10 price too.

Oh and all of these have free shipping.
Incredible deal, got them all. Thanks for the heads up on the other $10 games.

wow glad i didnt go to bed, picked up lego batman 2, Saints Row The Third, and the NBA MLB 2k12 combo pack... very good deals, I held back on alot of others but barely

Picked up Skyrim. But for somebody who is almost an exclusive PC gamer now, it was the only thing that I could see in the store that I both wanted, and didn't think would be hitting $10 on steam fairly soon. Thus it was the only thing for me that was worth the effort of picking up.

A few years ago I would have dropped $100 easy in this sale. Steam has spoiled me.

Got Skyrim, too. The free shipping makes it all the more hilarious. Doubt we'll see Skyrim this low on the main DD stores for another six months or so.
Got Skyrim, too. The free shipping makes it all the more hilarious. Doubt we'll see Skyrim this low on the main DD stores for another six months or so.
Yes, I dare say that because of this, I can forgive Microsoft for Windows ME.
yes, i am going to wait for it to be cheaper
What sale/price you expecting? thinking about just going with the current price.

Mooby - thanks for the info

& lol, Old Republic CE sold out with the quickness. Would have liked that, could've gotten it but didn't realize it had a statue lol.
already have Skyrim & Diablo from the TRU sale so hopefully people can enjoy those.
Tho D3 doesn't show up on the PC games list. I had to look on Google to find the link to it.

That's the lowest I've seen Future Soldier too, and Fallout: NV Ultimate, tempting...
You're hard to please!
Nah I just have a lot of disdain for Blizzard. I got a hundred or so hours out of TL2 a couple months ago -- gave me relatively the same experience without all the D3 negatives.

Missed Skyrim (not a big worry, since I already own it, but would've made a great $10 gift), but picked up Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 since I hadn't seen it that low before.

Diablo III is also already out of stock.
