Welcome to the Steam Deal Thread V5! You can find link to past threads at the bottom of this post. Read post #2 of this thread for Steam FAQs and more.

This is a Wiki post. Please read this
We appreciate you helping keep this thread up to date. The sales change virtually every day so no one person has the time to update them all. If you notice a game is no longer on sale, feel free to delete its line from the sale list. Of course, if you see a game is on sale, add it to the list. Make sure your changes match the thread's format! For example, every game that's on sale is part of an unordered list. When adding a game to the list, copy an existing line and update the link, title, and prices. That way, the format stays correct. Do not list percentages off! We list the original price and the sale price here. If you have any suggestions for major changes to the post/thread, PM me (EastX) about them.
for instructions on updating the thread.

Preorder Deals - Updated 10/28
Group Buys - Updated 8/14

Several multiplayer Steam games are available in 2-packs or 4-packs. These packs offer a discount over buying multiple copies of a game separately. We also maintain group buy trade threads for several games, so please use those threads if you're interested in setting up a group buy.

Free Stuff - Updated 4/3

There are several free games and mods on Steam. These are a few choice ones; you can find a full list here. Note that free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.

Steam around CAG

If you are interested in joining the Steam CAG Community or participating in a trade or group buy with fellow Cheap Ass Gamers, please do so in the dedicated threads and not in the deal discussion thread. In the dedicated threads you will find CAGers with the same specialized interest who will be much quicker (and happier) to respond than in the Deals thread.

Steam Retail Key List

What is a CD key and where can I find it?

https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=7480-WUSF-3601

The CD Key is a serial number with a combination of 13, 18, or 25 letters and numbers - it can be found on a sticker inside your game's case or printed on the game's quick reference card.
The CD Key acts as your proof of purchase for the game - Steam Support may ask for it if you need to establish your ownership of an account. It is recommended that you keep your CD Key in a safe place to ensure the security of your account.
In most ways, ABSOLUTELY...

A few VERY minor complaints of mine about Witcher 2 include:
Chapter 3 feels extremely rushed compared to the rest of the game (well, at least before EE patch - ain't played it since EE patch);
we hear a lot about Yennefer, yet we never meet her - so it feels like a major set-up for Witcher 2 expansions and/or Witcher 3;
AND Shani isn't even in Witcher 2.
I agree with MysterD, as I didn't get into Witcher 1 at all but I felt Witcher 2 improved in all user-friendly ways (UI, controls, accessibility) without watering the story or character development down at all. I also liked that it had less of a creepy "collect the nude cards" perv vibe that the first one had in the background.

I also agree that Chapter 3 ended way too abruptly compared to the previous two chapters, even with the enhanced edition. I did like the fact that the EE added some minor side quests and incidental dialogue to the third chapter, but I still felt a bit unsatisfied at the end.

Looks like that's it for the deals, so I can pull the trigger on my cart. Of course, I forgot Killing Floor was a flash deal, so the DLC in there jumped back up in price. Well, they'll go on sale again in a month, so I swapped them out for the finally-discounted SSF4AE DLC.

My small haul:
-Orcs Must Die 2 $3.75
-KOTOR 2 $2.50
-Zeno Clash $1
-Legends of Grimrock $3.75

Thats $10 total if I did my math right. I also had picked up that War Chest bundle thing from Amazon for $7.50. I didn't spend much at all for PC games which is good because I dropped $90 on AC3, XCOM, Most Wanted for PS3.
So. . . is Silverfall the new Coconut Queen? Should I buy it now so I'll be ahead of the meme wave?

I have a Paypal question for anyone who may know the answer. My Paypal account currently is linked only to my debit card and I can only add money to my Paypal balance by selling stuff on Ebay or using MoneyPak cards (whatever those are). If I linked my Paypal to my checking account, would this allow me to transfer money to a Paypal balance directly from that account? If I could do that it would save me a ton of grief dealing with my credit union and being able to make purchases at Gog or Gamersgate or GMG during sales (EDIT: or getting Indie Royales).
Yes. You can also then transfer money from your Paypal to your bank account (as I do once I get paid for the Indie Galas I host).

Pretty convenient. Paypal has some pretty crappy policies elsewhere, but the bank account linking it makes things easier.
Wait, did they actually go ahead with the $7.50 price for Blops? I thought that was cancelled and it was $20. Christ, i hope i didn't miss anything while i was chasing down deals on Black Friday.
I can't tell if your being sarcastic or not but I was talking about the Prototype pack being $7.50 lol.

Just set up your Checking Account as your "Backup Funding Source". Let's say you have $0 in your Paypal account and you buy something for $10, then your checking account is automatically deducted $10 (free of charge). If you had $3 in your PayPal account, then it would only hit the checking account for the $7 it need to complete the transaction. Also, get a free debit MasterCard card for your PayPal account and use it like a credit card (don't use the PIN for purchases, always use as credit). You get 1% cash back at the end of every month for every purchase. I've used it for everything from Bills/Gas/Steam/Amazon/Gamersgate this month. 1% might not seem much, but that extra $4 I got coming to me in a week will buy some nice DLC on Steam. Use it to pay all your bills, and get an extra discount for doing what you already do, free of charge.

GamersGate:
13. Blades of Time: $7.48
14. Max Payne 3: $11.87

17. Tomb Raider: Anniversary: $2.49
18. Batman: Arkham City GOTY: $7.49
19. Orcs Must Die 2 Complete: $6.24

Total: $179.23 :)

No, not being sarcastic. I guess I just misunderstood you.
Alright, I can tally my final total now. Drumroll, please....

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II - $2.49

Final Total: $2.49

Yikes...
Damn, you beat me.

My final total is...

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II - $2.49 x2

Final Total: $4.98

----------

And I bought a $50 steam card for this. At least I'll be ready for the winter sale.

Deponia is the only other thing I was about to get, but everyone in this thread was saying the price was too high, so I stopped myself.

Still debating on Armada 2526 though. Only 66/100 on Metacritic, but it's 80% off.

----------

Edit: I guess if we're counting Amazon too, I got:

Paradox Majesty Franchise $9.99
Civilization V: GaK $7.49

Thank you for Xcom, mate. :applause:

My Haul:
Tropico 3: Absolute Power
Civ V Korea/Wonders DLC Combo
Zeno Clash
Civilizations V Gods and Kings Mac
Torchlight II
The Walking Dead
Horrid Henry
STALKER: Shadow of Chernobyl
Legend of Grimrock
Space Pirates and Zombies
Victoria II

edit: KOA and DLC

Total: $46ish

I ended up without that much. On steam, only bought CS:GO with funds left over in my steam wallet from the summer sale, so it doesn't really count as me spending anything to get it.

But winter is coming...

All good but yeah it did get scrapped directly by Activison, at least that's what Tony said lol. bastards

Would Darksiders II for $7 be a good deal? or keep waiting

If anyone doesn't have it by now I highly recommend grabbing Binding of Isaac + the expansion for $2 total. The expansion adds a ton of new content.

I'm going to hold out for the Winter Sale for the rest of my purchases [only STEAM buy was Dawnguard; I want to play this now to hold me over].

The way I see it, the Winter Sale is the last major sale until we hit summer. Going on a spending splurge during the Winter Sale! :D

Yeah I was pretty conservative. Only things I got were Witcher 2, Castle Crashers (in a 4 pack), and some Dredmor DLC. At worst Castle Crashers will be 75% off and I lose out on like $1. I suppose Witcher 2 could drop some more but... I just don't see it going lower than 75% off the $30 retail for at least another six months or so. Granted Witcher 1 sells for $2.50 but it's over four years old.

To be honest, not much moved me in this sale, which isn't surprising given my backlog.

Total damage:

KOTOR II 2.49
Zeno Clash .99 x2 (Once on Steam, once on Amazon)
MacGuffin's Curse 1.79

Total: $6.26

walkonshadows, that's a great tip, but my credit really sucks so I won't waste my time getting rejected for that. Thanks for the info, though!

As to the question of whether you can activate the Steam version of The Witcher 2: Enhanced Edition at GOG (Yes) to receive the Backup DRM-FREE version as well as the extras, and to what are the differences:

1. Right Click on The Witcher 2: Enhanced Edition while in Library Mode (left pane shows game names)
2. Select "View CD Key"
3. Select "Copy to Clipboard"
4. Go to GOG Witcher/Witcher 2 Backup Copy Redemption
5. Paste the code into the box and hit redeem. Your Backup copy will now be in your GOG Library, as well as all the bonus content.

When you redeem The Witcher 2 on Steam and start downloading it, it will have 2 separate downloads.
The game and a 4.8 GB download titled The Witcher 2: Bonus Content.
This will appear in your Steam folder at the following address: /Steam/steamapps/common/the witcher 2.

Here are the differences between the Steam extras and the GOG extras. Will start with what's the same:

Same Bonus Content at GOG & Steam
-----------------------
Soundtrack
Map
Game Guide
Manual
Papercraft Dolls
Pamphlet & Envelope

Exclusive to Steam
------------------
Photos of Developer Offices
Promo Pictures
Screenshots

Exclusive to GOG
------------------
Wallpapers
Artbook
Avatars
Artworks
many more videos other than just Developer Diaries
Triss Playboy Session
Comic Book
4 Bonus Tracks to the Soundtrack

There's definitely some overlap, but the clear winner here is GOG. Let Steam download the extras folder (it will automatically anyway). Then consolidate it into the folder that you downloaded the GOG extras into.

My haul:

Torchlight 2 4 pack group buy: $7.50
All OMD2 DLC: $3.72
Silverfall Complete: $4.48
Saints Row 3 Unlockable Pack & Genki Girl Pack: $1.23
Dungeons of Dredmor CotW: $4.48

Total: $21.48
Thanks, Fox!

you shoulda picked up lara croft and the guardian of light. its probably better than legend and anniversary combined. its really that good. but great prices on those two tomb raider games nevertheless.

I haven't been around the forums for a while (been playing games instead of buying them...lolol) but did catch the tail end of the autumn sales and got me....

Coconut Queen

AND

Secrets of the Magic Crystal

Thought you guys would be proud. :D
Binding of Isaac still doesn't support a 360 pad, does it? I really don't like playing that game with a m+KB.
Not really. afaik, the controls are really really poopy with a ps3 controller even though it technically sort of 'works'. It's far better with a keyboard and mouse.

Grabbed torchlight II to round off the sale and Batman Arkham City GOTY went into my inventory. I'll debate activating it and dealing with the DRM or trading it away later this week. Overall a decent sale. Think my total was around $48.

I was doing pretty well until Amazon offered Max Payne 3 + Season Pass for $20. I thought no one else was going to beat that, so I hopped on it, assuming keys would run out within a few hours. Then everybody else started selling the base game for $14.99, and it turns out multiplayer isn't very active, and all the DLC is multiplayer. On the bright side, it's still a great buy for a great game.

Other than that:

Civ 3 Complete: $1.24
Civ 5 Gods & Kings x-pack: $7.49 (Amazon)
Deus Ex HR Missing Link DLC: $3.74
DXHR extras bundle: $0.99
KOTOR II: $2.49
Toki Tori: $0.49

Total, including MP3: $36.43

Games for myself:
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II - 2.49 USD
Dungeons of Dredmor CotW DLC - 0.74 USD
Sanctum Map Pack 2 DLC - 1.24 USD
Bioshock 1+2 (Amazon) - $4.99
Max Payne Bundle - 3.74 USD
Fable The Lost Chapters - 2.49 USD
Deponia - 6.79 USD
Awesomenauts - 3.39 USD
Silverfall + Earth Awakening Pack - 3.74 USD
Torchlight II 4-pack - (7.49 USD my share)
Cargo Commander - 2.49 USD
Castle Crashers 4-pack - (3.75 USD my share)

My total: $43.34

Games bought for friends as holiday/whatever gifts:
Civ V Gods & Kings Expansion (Amazon) - $7.49
Lucasarts Adventure Bundle - 4.99 USD
Torchlight II 4-pack - (7.50 USD my share)
(sold the other two copies to friends at-cost)

Gift total: $19.98

All told: $63.32

I wasn't going to buy the LucasArts pack until the Winter Sale, but I figured that the worst that could happen buying it now is that I would have saved another $2.50, and this spares me worrying it'll go off the store before I had it. I have a friend who's been itching to play the Indiana Jones games again.

The Torchlight 2 gift copy is for my brother who is waiting on the Mac version release, but I wanted my copy now and figured the 4-pack was the way to go. One of the two friends who bought a copy from me hosted Castle Crashers the next day, so now he owes me half. (I'm not sure he was even aware of the 4-packs until I approached him about mine.)

Still tempted by The Witcher 2 to knock it off of my wishlist and into my backlog (and GoG shelf), but I haven't played the first one yet and have plenty else on my plate at the moment. Would almost bring my total to an even $50, though it's a palindrome right now. Decisions, decisions...

Ah, it's nice to see Motoki's memory kept alive.
Agreed :)
Witcher 2 is mine! Watch it be $5 in one month's time!
It probably will be, DON'T BITE YET!
Oh you guys. :imwithst:
Anyway, there's a bunch of crap over at Big Fish on sale for $2.99 if you enter the code CYBER. Most of it IS crap, but some is decent like 4 Elements II which is on Greenlight but oddly not on Steam yet.
Motoki!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Welcome back Brawny Gent!
Why do I feel buying Witcher 2 for $7.50 is a trap for when it's lowered to $5 at Christmas?
It is a TRAP that even Akbar could see coming. DON'T BUY IT YET!!!
Never pay more than $10 for a game!
Excellent tip!
I would very much like to welcome Motoki back to the forums. The company here on the thread has been excellent, but it's nice to know one of the more generous and influential members has decided to rejoin the group.
Yes, welcome back Motoki!
This. It's the 5th time when it's 75% off and it will be discounted again on winter sale. I'm predicting a permanent price drop soon. Maybe after then I'll finally grab it.
Exactly, just keep waiting it will be cheaper. :)
So wait, there's one more set of flash deals rolling in 5-ish hours right? Then that's it and we are safe to buy anything that didn't make a flash or daily?

Assuming they don't pull a Jade Empire tomorrow, that is.
Trolo! :cold:

Excellent! :applause:
I'd recommend players buy Silverfall: Complete Edition [contains both Silverfall (original) + Silverfall: Earth Awakening (stand-alone expansion)].
Install them together into the same folder.
IMHO - it's the BEST way to enjoy both games.
Earth Awakening continues the story from where the ending of Silverfall (original campaign) leaves off, so you're best off playing Silverfall (original campaign) w/ EA installed - just for all the technical improvements.

I played Silverfall (original) BEFORE the expansion even came out; and have played it afterwards when Earth Awakening came out - I bought both imports years ago cheap from Gogamer.
With Earth Awakening installed, the original game's EXTREMELY IMPROVED - it's like a difference of night and day here. All the technical issues are pretty much GONE.
I never tried this game on Win 7, so I can't speak on that. But, on Win XP - yeah, it ran tons better w/ Earth Awakening installed.

DO NOT buy Silverfall original ALONE. Don't do it - you'll be missing out on the overhaul EA gives it, since the original game never got an overhaul patch.
Earth Awakening IS the overhaul patch....and also contains new content and a new campaign.
This sounds awesome! I'm sold! Bought!

LOL I didn't see your post until now. That's awesome, thanks!

Spent more than I wanted but since I've been waiting for the Street Fighter DLC to go on sale on on the 360 and it probably never will I'll take what I can get with Steam (as much as I hate giving Capcom anything these days)... beats $36+ in just costume DLC.

SSFIVAE Complete: $13.50
Torchlight 2: $10
Sonic Generations: $7.50
KOTOR 2: $2.50
Intrusion 2: $3.40

Then Dark Souls from Amazon: $15

and just rounding out the Black Friday spending Forza Horizon from MS: $15

Rounded total: $67

Thought I was going to get out of this cheaper after the binge on the summer sale. Already started on Torchlight 2 to feel like I'm getting value since I didn't wait for the 75% mark. Getting back a car payment next month means it'll be time to try and put a dent in the backlog and give up the impulse spending for awhile (but yay car with working speedometer).

Even though my buddy gave me $20 in my Steam wallet last week, I didn't buy anything during this sale, though I almost bit on Witcher 2. I'm just afraid it will drop to $5 during the Christmas sale and after screwing myself on Arkham City, I'm going to hold off and play my backlog. I did buy Sleeping Dogs off a CAG for $15, though.

EDIT: Heh, I see evildeadjedi advised me to do what I did, which was to not bite on Witcher 2.

- Castle Crashers
- 4 of the 5 Warlock DLCs
- Puzzle Dimension
- Critter Crunch
- Sengoku
- Paradox War Chest
- Pint Sized Paradox pack
- Two Worlds
- Two Worlds 2

Avarice.

Every sale I cry for my Sacred 2. Come back to me! Oh the time we could log together.
I now officially have *way* to many games to play. I look foolish. 10 minutes in this game! oh wait 5 minutes in this one. *crap* 4.5 minutes here.
Yet, knowing that those games are safely in my Steam library, waiting for me gives me comfort. Never to be stolen and taken away forever.
My 120 hours in New Vegas is something I'm quite proud of. My 70 hours in Civ5. I wish GW2 was on steam so I could show those numbers too.

Final Haul (I think) about $60 at Steam and maybe $15-20 at Amazon

Steam DLC:
Civ V Gods and Kings Expansion
Crusader Kings II: Sword of Islam, Legacy of Rome
Dungeon Defenders: Lucky Costume Pack, Penny Arcade Character Pack
Quantum Conundrum: Desmonds Debacle, IKE-aramba
Saints Row: The Third - Unlockable Pack

Steam Games:
Hotline Miami
Intrusion 2
Orcs Must Die 2 - Complete Pack
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II
Torchlight II
Total War Shogun 2: Fall of the Samurai Collection
The Witcher 2
Zombie Driver HD

Steam via Amazon:
Silverfall, Silverfall Earth Awakening
Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection
Serious Sam 3 DLC: Jewel of the Nile
Sonic 4 Ep 2

So I got

Silverfall + Earth Awakening Pack 3.74 USD (because everyone else is doing it :p)
Crusader Kings II: Legacy of Rome 1.24 USD
Tropico 4: Pirate Heaven DLC 0.99 USD
Tropico 4: Megalopolis DLC 0.99 USD
Loki 2.49 USD
Emerald City Confidential 3.99 USD
Critter Crunch 1.74 USD
Lucasarts Adventure Bundle 4.99 USD
Hotel Giant 2 1.24 USD
Roogoo 0.74 USD
Kung Fu Strike: The Warrior's Rise - DLC 0.74 USD
And then Castle Crashers at $4.13 as part of a (UK) 4 pack.

I also gifted Torchlight II to my nephew because he wanted it. Apparently one of the other little 10 years olds on the block was talking about it. Kind of cool that word has gotten around about that game even among the mostly console crowd.

I'm hesitating on an eleventh hour Amalur purchase from Amazon but I really don't want to buy an Origin game...
man, love me some civ 5 G&K expansion. That totally made the core game even better and more rounded like civ 4.
I like playing as Austria. The ability buy off city states into your empire totally makes up for having a snooty old lady with a huge bustle as your avatar.

I'm not even gonna lie, I never play my damned games. And yet somehow I put ton of time into Civ V. There's just something about that game.

I gave up on Sacred 2 and just got it cheap on Gamersgate with the expansion a while back. The sad part is, I'd still rebuy it in a minute if it came back on Steam.

I had to stop myself from re-buying the Drakensang games to get them on Steam because I already have them on Gamersgate. I told myself I'd be better about my spending so that list above was me being restrained after I took a bunch of crap out.

only 15$ not bad.
Picked up Chivalry, Alan wake American nightmare.
Trying to hold back on the witcher.... my backlog should last me till the winter were it should be at least 7.50 again.

Keep hesitating. You'll have plenty of other opportunities to pick it up for Origin. It certainly won't be the last time that it's on sale.

I have some interest in playing Amalur, but I'm certainly not dying to play it. I'll keep waiting to see if the powers that be which control the game on Steam decide to put it on sale one day. If not, I'll pick it up on Origin. But there's no hurry. It's not like they're gonna stop selling it on Origin anytime soon. At worst, I'll have Plenty of other chances at getting it at the current bundle price on Amazon.
