Welcome to the Steam Deal Thread V5! You can find link to past threads at the bottom of this post. Read post #2 of this thread for Steam FAQs and more.

This is a Wiki post. Please read this
We appreciate you helping keep this thread up to date. The sales change virtually every day so no one person has the time to update them all. If you notice a game is no longer on sale, feel free to delete its line from the sale list. Of course, if you see a game is on sale, add it to the list. Make sure your changes match the thread's format! For example, every game that's on sale is part of an unordered list. When adding a game to the list, copy an existing line and update the link, title, and prices. That way, the format stays correct. Do not list percentages off! We list the original price and the sale price here. If you have any suggestions for major changes to the post/thread, PM me (EastX) about them.
for instructions on updating the thread.

Preorder Deals - Updated 10/28
Group Buys - Updated 8/14

Several multiplayer Steam games are available in 2-packs or 4-packs. These packs offer a discount over buying multiple copies of a game separately. We also maintain group buy trade threads for several games, so please use those threads if you're interested in setting up a group buy.

Free Stuff - Updated 4/3

There are several free games and mods on Steam. These are a few choice ones; you can find a full list here. Note that free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.

Steam around CAG

If you are interested in joining the Steam CAG Community or participating in a trade or group buy with fellow Cheap Ass Gamers, please do so in the dedicated threads and not in the deal discussion thread. In the dedicated threads you will find CAGers with the same specialized interest who will be much quicker (and happier) to respond than in the Deals thread.

Steam Retail Key List

What is a CD key and where can I find it?

https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=7480-WUSF-3601

The CD Key is a serial number with a combination of 13, 18, or 25 letters and numbers - it can be found on a sticker inside your game's case or printed on the game's quick reference card.
The CD Key acts as your proof of purchase for the game - Steam Support may ask for it if you need to establish your ownership of an account. It is recommended that you keep your CD Key in a safe place to ensure the security of your account.
@ Motoki & @ Idiotekque Why don't you two just get a hotel room and get it over with? Just keep it out of the thread, it's gotten beyond stupid. Please for all that is good and holy, just shut up, the both of you, or take to to PM....or between the sheets.

So I'm guessing I'm a bad person because I enjoy it?

Too much harmony is fuck creepy, its nice to see that not everyone gets along from time to time.

Well except everyone gets along with me, or they're a bad person and quite possibly don't like kittens or ice cream either.
Actually, you are wrong; the one true editor is vi!!!!

But seriously, I HATE THEM BOTH!!!! AHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA

I second this. And the one true web browser is Lynx.

I know most will think these are funny but I use Vi regularly for linux servers and lynx occasionally to troubleshoot connectivity.

I would smother kittens with ice cream if I could. And you already know how I feel about jay's on guy.

Lately, I feel like this when coming to this thread:

On another topic, one of my monitor stands broke off (way to go Samsung, for using cheap plastic on your monitors -_-) ... can anyone recommend a VESA mounted monitor stand? I don't want to/can't mount my monitors on the wall, so I'm looking for one that will work on a desk. I should probably add that my monitor is 23".
I don't know if people care, but some of my friends have been waiting for Walking Dead to go on sale again since they missed it during the Summer Sale. I absolutely loved the game and I was happy to see that it's 40% off again on Gamersgate. The game is Steamworks so it will activate on Steam just fine.

Oh, thanks for this. I'm tempted. I just finished the first episode on the PS3 (got the first 2 free because I'm a PS+ member) and I have a feeling when I finish the 2nd episode, I will want to play through the rest ASAP. Also, I plowed through all 100 issues of the comic recently, so I'm on a huge Walking Dead kick. I think the discussion on this thread a while back was the main catalyst for that impromptu comic marathon, haha

Don't forget you can get an extra 15% off if you have the IGN discount. If anybody without the discount is interested in getting it with the discount just PM. I already have it from elsewhere so I can help out two CAGs if they want the discount. (I would purchase it and then gift it to you via gamersgate).

Phew, I remembered to pick up Mad Racers for $4.40, before Gabe locked the sale price away in the Steam Vault. ...And why to I think that would be even more run to raid than Borderlands: Armory of General Knoxx runs?

Midweek Madness

Mount & Blade Collection $8.74 75% off includes below
Mount & Blade $3.74 75% off
Mount & Blade Warband $4.99 75% off
Mount & Blade Warband DLC $2.49 75% off
Mount & Blade With Fire & Sword $2.49 75% off

Bitcomposer and viva media bundle $9.99 75% off includes below
Air Conflicts Secret Wars
Cargo The Quest for Gravity
Grand Ages Rome
Stalker Call of Pripyat
Shadow Harvest Phantom Ops

Walking Dead is temping at $12.72, I passed it up at $15 during the summer sale but this is over $2 cheaper, it's around 49% off, after IGN. I can't imagine it'd be more than 50% off for the Halloween sale, maybe by Xmas sale it would be 50 or even 66%.

Nah, I'm going to wait til all the episodes are out.

I'm not an indie bundle addict, but this sounds a lot better than Gabe's leftovers.

Air Conflicts was in a recent indiegala, btw.

Though I am curious what all the Warband fuss is about...

That's some really good timing for SpaceChem. I just saw that there was a piece of DLC and that I missed the nice price in the Summer sale, so I'll be picking that up.

Warband is sort of like Medieval: Total War had babies with Sid Meier's Pirates!

Go around and recruit men into your merry band and attack raiders, bandits and enemy armies. Get told by your liege to do this or that mission and get rewarded with increased fame and potentially land and castles. Or go alone and start your own kingdom. There's a lot of "Go out, find guys, beat up guys, go to town and sell loot and buy supplies" looping repetitiveness like in Pirates. Battles are similar to the Total War franchise except on a somewhat smaller scale and you fight in them directly, hacking and slashing from a 1st/3rd person perspective. There's mild RPG elements such as the ability to marry or having one NPC specialist arguing with another but nothing weighty.

Warband allows for multiplayer battles although I've never done them.

It's definitely worth the $4.75 for the game play assuming what I described sounds entertaining to you. Graphics are a bit uneven but so it goes. It's funny to me that they have a bunch of sliders for eye depth, tip of nose length, etc but no matter what you'll still look as though someone crudely carved you out of a potato.

Wow, thanks for that explanation! Definitely sounds interesting. ...price v.s. backlog v.s. when I'll get around to it... hmm
I felt the exact same way. The trailers and previous press got me pretty interested in the game, but once I got to play the beta I walked away just feeling meh about the whole thing. I'm not sure if I'm just dumb or if it isn't there, but I didn't see any tutorial or instructions. Jumping into the game and trying to figure out what I'm doing while being stabbed from 3+ directions wasn't all that fun.
Yea I dont think Id get it either. M&B fighting was a lot better to me and the game is very gear dependent, so if you arent playing all the time you will fall behind like mad

Maybe this is off topic, but I love my Auria 27" IPS monitor. Most 27" s-IPS monitors with 1440p resolution are $700-$1000, but the Auria is $400 at Microcenter. You may have heard of the popular Korean 27" monitors that people buy over ebay and other online retailers (Catleap, Yamasaki, etc), and those are similar to the Auria (though apparently their refresh rates can be overclocked, which I honestly haven't had any need for). If you have a microcenter near you, you can try out the Auria 27" in store to make sure there are no dead pixels.

Here's some more information regarding the Auria 27:

I upgraded from an Asus 25.5" and a Dell 19", so even though you may just be used to a 23" monitor, you'll absolutely love this monitor. I believe the only complaint people have of this monitor is the stand, but it is VESA mount compatible, so you are good to go.

I've owned a handful of nicer Dell IPS displays (2005FPW 20", 2209WA 22", U2412HM 24") all have come with really nice VESA mount stands that allow swivel, a good measure of height adjustment, as well as portrait mode rotation. The U2410, U2311H, U2312HM, & U2412HM are all popular displays with good stands, the latter three are popular options for 3-display setups (which often swap to different mounting). You should probably be able to find stands from those on FleaBay cheap (or search for the no-working listings).

Interesting article about the OnLive shakeup, BBC.

OnLive's new backer is the Silicon Valley-based venture capital group Lauder Partners.

It bought the original company's technology, trademarks and patents after the OnLive's board used a technique known as "assignment for the benefit of creditors" - an alternative to bankruptcy.

OnLive had failed to make a profit as an independent business was because it had signed contracts for 8,000 computer servers - but only had about 1,600 people using its service at any one time.

My monitor works fine aside from the broken stand, and I don't really have the money for a whole new monitor even though the one you talked about sounds awesome... maybe someday :) But for now, I'm pretty happy with my current setup aside from the stand issue.

Wow, I'm surprised that everybody is hating that bundle.

I really wanted to grab Zero Gear myself during the Summer Sale, but decided against it because I was buying too much other stuff. Looks like a fun little ModNation Racers clone (I wish that game was on the PC).

Metal Drift looks worth a shot; there aren't enough vehicular combat games on the PC.

I've heard some good about Guns of Icarus. Looks interesting, but I really don't know.

Revelations 2012? GOTY version? Yeah, call me crazy, but I'm stoked to get that.

Don't know anything about Laxius Force.

What's the best part though? $1 minimum! Last time it was $4. That's a steal for these five games (at least I think so; Zero Gear alone was $1.88 in a four pack), plus a sixth (granted the goal is reached), AND music. Groupees does a really good job at offering nice music bonuses. The genre always seems to be electronic/chiptune/dubstep, so I guess that's not everybody's thing, but it's a nice bonus. Then again, maybe I'm the only one who actually listens to the music that game bundles give, lol.

In other news, why is the second half of that video just a black screen?
Yuck. What a steaming turd of a bundle. Sadly, I'll still probably get it
The games are pretty bad, but they're pretty bad games with multiplayer. That means party  I'm in.

This. I'm looking forward to buying it and playing Revelations 2012 with BGCQ!

Also.. I always knew those Indie Face Kick guys were clowns, but I didn't think they'd be crazy enough to set the minimum payment for their new bundle at $8..

Pay $8 and get the bundle as a download

Pay $25 (US) for the bundle digitally as well as shipped to you with the Metal IFK Usb drive pre-loaded with our games. Add $6 shipping international.

Pay $14 and just order the USB card!

I had a scare today. I got an email saying I got $6 off war of the roses because I bought Mount and Blade. So I was like wtf I never bought that, and after checking Amazon and realizing it was for the beta I felt better.

Also I am pumped for the new Be Mine Bundle. Revelations 2012, I can't pass up that pile of shit :D.

This. Really, it's way better than many other bundles lately.

Royale? >$5 for bunch of mediocre games which you can buy seperately for similar price on Steam sales.
Gala? Beat the average to get Bad Rats! Games so good, so they are everywhere on steamgifts now. Without 4- or 20-pack group buys it also would be just weak deal.
Humble? Repeated games everywhere. BTA price not worth beating. Still great value anyway.
IFK? trololo

I definitely will buy BeMine4. The more bundles they sell, the more bundles with low minimum we'll see in future.

btw. I've never considered buying DRM free bundles, funnily enough, Green Light Bundle seems to be the most interesting one for me.

Zero interest in any of those games. Especially given most are predominantly multi-player and probably have non existent communities. Sorry but the last IG/1C bundle was vastly superior.
