Welcome to the Steam Deal Thread V5! You can find link to past threads at the bottom of this post. Read post #2 of this thread for Steam FAQs and more.

This is a Wiki post. Please read this
We appreciate you helping keep this thread up to date. The sales change virtually every day so no one person has the time to update them all. If you notice a game is no longer on sale, feel free to delete its line from the sale list. Of course, if you see a game is on sale, add it to the list. Make sure your changes match the thread's format! For example, every game that's on sale is part of an unordered list. When adding a game to the list, copy an existing line and update the link, title, and prices. That way, the format stays correct. Do not list percentages off! We list the original price and the sale price here. If you have any suggestions for major changes to the post/thread, PM me (EastX) about them.
for instructions on updating the thread.

Preorder Deals - Updated 10/28
Group Buys - Updated 8/14

Several multiplayer Steam games are available in 2-packs or 4-packs. These packs offer a discount over buying multiple copies of a game separately. We also maintain group buy trade threads for several games, so please use those threads if you're interested in setting up a group buy.

Free Stuff - Updated 4/3

There are several free games and mods on Steam. These are a few choice ones; you can find a full list here. Note that free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.

Steam around CAG

If you are interested in joining the Steam CAG Community or participating in a trade or group buy with fellow Cheap Ass Gamers, please do so in the dedicated threads and not in the deal discussion thread. In the dedicated threads you will find CAGers with the same specialized interest who will be much quicker (and happier) to respond than in the Deals thread.

Steam Retail Key List

What is a CD key and where can I find it?

https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=7480-WUSF-3601

The CD Key is a serial number with a combination of 13, 18, or 25 letters and numbers - it can be found on a sticker inside your game's case or printed on the game's quick reference card.
The CD Key acts as your proof of purchase for the game - Steam Support may ask for it if you need to establish your ownership of an account. It is recommended that you keep your CD Key in a safe place to ensure the security of your account.

Btw. Any thoughts about Quantum Connundrum? Reviews are quite spreaded, so I would love to read what CAGs think about this game.
I got a key, not sure what it's for. Wish you could activate games with the mobile client. Very easy process though thanks!

I've tried getting in on this deal four times now. Tried PayPal and Credit Card and nothing works. I keep getting errors. This was the first time I tried to use GMG. It was also the last. I'll just wait for gamersgate or steam to match the sale eventually.

GMG is always a pain in the ass the first couple of times. Let the frustration of dealing with yuropeens pass. It's a great site.

THANK YOU for the Hitman key site. Made off like a bandit. These are going on Steamgifts! Actually just got one and am glad I snuck one in. Was worried I would never get that after my GMG preorder.

QC's reviews are accurate. As is the demo. It's fun but not great.

Picked it up, the translated site is making it seem like it's just the beta, along with the fact that the key registered as beta.

Download expiration date is up to 2013 年 1 月 31 日. After this date will no longer download Hitman sniper challenge (you can play, not just about be downloaded within the deadline expiration).

Yes, I know, but at this moment those keys redeem the same game as retail ones, as you can see in Steam registry:
http://cdr.thebronasium.com/sub/apps/15712
http://cdr.thebronasium.com/sub/apps/14640
Also on that site is sentence that those keys are restricted to Japan, but, as we all can see, it's false.

Re: the "Terraria announcement" from a few pages ago, it's not Humble Bundle related. They're releasing it on XBLA and PSN+. Interesting move, I might double-dip.

It's worth noting that a couple of days ago one CAG reported games from GMG being removed from their Steam account (2K told them that GMG were not a legitimate Steam reseller) and also a few days ago another CAG was banned from posting GMG bargains on EA forums - EA told them that GMG were not a legitimate Steam reseller. So don't worry too much about missing this "deal". ;)

I used to tell people that GMG would probably be perfectly safe for in-stock Steam keys. I don't say that any more. :whistle2:#

The guy bought a key from someone that said they got it from gmg. EA bans people for sneezing. 2k probably doesn't know their head from their ass, gearbox verified on their forums gmg preorders would recieve the preorder bonuses.

People have issues with their banks not gmg. If people just take two seconds and speak to their bank before making international orders all should be well.

The first order you place when you create an account won't be able to advance to checkout until you verify an email they send. For some reason, after clicking checkout, the page does nothing and doesn't indicate that anything is wrong. I logged out and came back to gmg a short bit later and I think there was some text on the main page indicating my account could not place an order until I verify the email.

Perhaps this is your problem. I also did not have to call my cc before placing the order, but about 30 minutes later I received a fraud alert phone call where I merely had to verify the charges.

I bought it during the Gamefly sale. I enjoyed it, but it does involve a large number of jumping puzzles and the controls aren't as tight as I liked. I had many puzzles that took a dozen tries just because the jumps are so hard to nail and I would miss one almost at the end of the sequence and have to start over.

That said the checkpoints are very generous and I never got that frustrated with the platforming. I enjoyed the voice over work and the overall charm of the game. Definitely worth getting while it is on sale.

I'm so glad you posted this. I was planning on getting it on 360 today but since it seems as though it's coming out on PC, I'll happily wait.

Snapshot is pretty boring, if anyone was curious about it. It's just a really straightforward puzzle platformer and it never offers an incentive to keep going, really.

Maybe it's worth to ask devs about putting the game on Greenlight?

I think the Hitman keys are still being given out at the Japanese Square-Enix Members site. I registered, then followed through with the log-in and submitted my birth date on this form without a problem. I'll make a follow-up post if I actually get the key.
Dammit. I bought the base game when it was on sale at Gamefly for $3.75. Should have waited a little longer. =/
Same. Small consolation is by the time it gets to the top of my backlog, the DLC/SP will be really cheap.
Maybe it's worth to ask devs about putting the game on Greenlight?
I think the issue with Shadow Complex is licensing rights with MS. There's enough of an established fanbase that they wouldn't need Greenlight.

Terrarria is $2.50 during the holiday sales anyway so it's not a total loss that it will not be in the humble bundle.
don't take it personally is a SLIGHTLY more traditional style VN, with the added social networking stuff providing a similar pace-change as the email hopping of Digital, but less constant. There are more actual choices in don't take it personally but they are pretty pointless. There's no failure or game over so I recommend you pick any "cool" choice.
It also bears to keep in mind that she wrote that game in a month.

Personally, I thought it was decent for a free game, tho you don't get too much insight into the main character, who is mostly an observer. Some interesting commentary on privacy, but perhaps not as focused as it could have been.

I recently finished it, and I'd say it's good enough for 4.99. Nice shooting, fun, not a whole lot variation though. The DLC is pretty lame if you ask me, even for less than 2 bucks.

Armageddon was my first Red Faction game and got me curious about Guerilla, I think I'll bite it for 4.99.

There's also a swedish bundle as the midweek madness.... nothing too great

Red Faction remains one of my favorite games all time but I have not played the newer ones.

Logged over 7 hours into it and beat the story. Overall it was decent, the game was fun just got a little too repetitive. I bit on the game for $5 from amazon and I feel that is the price point for the game. If you pass on it now it will most likely hit this price again and again later on.

Penny Arcade 3 review:
I just finished beating the game and the bonus boss. I played through the first game but got bored and never finished the second one; thankfully (for me), the third game plays NOTHING like the first two, and it's more similar to a classic SNES JRPG than anything else.

Well, that much most of you probably already knew. I was more impressed by how streamlined the entire game felt. Your party gains all its HP and items back after every battle, and all your "classes" (or jobs) gain experience as you play, even if you don't use them. The game heavily encourages experimentation and customization with its many classes, esp once each character can equip 3 classes at a time. The story isn't anything to write home about, though PA readers will probably get a kick by all the fan service and inside jokes. I felt the dialogue was a bit grating at times, but I still enjoyed the variety of the game's settings and parodies.

Overall, I quite enjoyed the 6 or so hours I played the game. I highly recommend it to people who grew up on 16bit JRPGs!

Yeah the first one was a blast, throwing C4 on the enemies and watching them run around screaming until you detonate it, blasting holes through everything, and then 2 dropped geomod and it sucked, Guerilla brought back the distruction but only to the buildings and structures but not the ground, only played a bit of it but it just seemed odd compared to the freedom of the first.

Sheesh, Steams going all EZ-Mode on us. Back in the day you didn't even get a choice of what you got to play.

Steam: Shall we play a game?
Me: Love to. How about Global Thermonuclear War?
Steam: Wouldn't you prefer a nice game of Half-Life 2?
Me: Later. Right now lets play Global Thermonuclear War.
Steam: Fine.
Two zombie games :)

And now I wish I would have gotten the Alpha IR bundle since Towns made it.
Did they make some guarantee it would be delivered via Steam if it did make it through the Greenlight process?

It's a fun little game. I managed to trade for that bundle ages ago.

Yeah, their greenlight page said you would get a steam key if you already owned it. Don't know what the cut off for it is though. Like if you could buy it now or what...

Ah very nice. Wonder how they plan to distribute them.

My notes indicate that of the Swedish Indie Bundle, only Dwarfs?! and Lucidity have not appeared in a mainstream indie bundle, and I think Puzzle Dimension was in another Steam Sales Event bundle (I can't find it on my Account Details page). So only 2/10 are "fresh". Bah humbug, or whatever that translates to in Svenska.

Dwarfs was on the latest Be MIne bundle as a last minute goal
$3.75 with this voucher: GMG25-1BW0K-K1A3G

I don't think it'll be cheaper anytime soon. If you don't have it yet, now is the best time to buy it.
And I have $3.74 in credit. I still haven't actually given them any money for my "purchases" due to the bit of credit I pick up now and then.
