Welcome to the Steam Deal Thread V5! You can find link to past threads at the bottom of this post. Read post #2 of this thread for Steam FAQs and more.

This is a Wiki post. Please read this
We appreciate you helping keep this thread up to date. The sales change virtually every day so no one person has the time to update them all. If you notice a game is no longer on sale, feel free to delete its line from the sale list. Of course, if you see a game is on sale, add it to the list. Make sure your changes match the thread's format! For example, every game that's on sale is part of an unordered list. When adding a game to the list, copy an existing line and update the link, title, and prices. That way, the format stays correct. Do not list percentages off! We list the original price and the sale price here. If you have any suggestions for major changes to the post/thread, PM me (EastX) about them.
for instructions on updating the thread.

Preorder Deals - Updated 10/28
Group Buys - Updated 8/14

Several multiplayer Steam games are available in 2-packs or 4-packs. These packs offer a discount over buying multiple copies of a game separately. We also maintain group buy trade threads for several games, so please use those threads if you're interested in setting up a group buy.

Free Stuff - Updated 4/3

There are several free games and mods on Steam. These are a few choice ones; you can find a full list here. Note that free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.

Steam around CAG

If you are interested in joining the Steam CAG Community or participating in a trade or group buy with fellow Cheap Ass Gamers, please do so in the dedicated threads and not in the deal discussion thread. In the dedicated threads you will find CAGers with the same specialized interest who will be much quicker (and happier) to respond than in the Deals thread.

Steam Retail Key List

What is a CD key and where can I find it?

https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=7480-WUSF-3601

The CD Key is a serial number with a combination of 13, 18, or 25 letters and numbers - it can be found on a sticker inside your game's case or printed on the game's quick reference card.
The CD Key acts as your proof of purchase for the game - Steam Support may ask for it if you need to establish your ownership of an account. It is recommended that you keep your CD Key in a safe place to ensure the security of your account.

Does anyone have any thoughts on Detour? I've been slightly interested in it for a bit, but haven't heard anything from anyone about the quality of the game.

Also, if someone's interested in the bundle just because of the Kaptain Brawe game, give me a pm. I have a code from when they accidentally put it in the last bundle.
This bundle looks much more interesting to me than the current BAB3:

Such a great great bundle. I wants is neow!!!

FYI. I bought a BAB3 with a $3.00 minimum then increased my donation to $3.75 but there's no option to add another game. I guess that feature hasn't been implemented yet. So, get what you want the first time ;)

I think I'm gonna pick up the Desura games in hopes of obtaining Steam keys at a later date. I don't normally pick up Desura games, but I'll take the risk.
Considering how much Winter Wolves games cost (~$10-20 each) that bundle sounds worth getting.
I'm just getting into VNs so I've never heard of these before. How are they?
I'm just getting into VNs so I've never heard of these before. How are they?
Can't speak for any of them in the bundle since I never played them, but you can always try out the demos on their homepage to decide for yourself. http://www.winterwolves.com/

Any idea when that Winterwolves bundle'll be up? I just tried the demo for Planet Stronghold and really enjoyed it. That alone is worth the $10 to me.

Holy mackerel Winter Wolves? Definitely interested in that. A bundle there would save me a crapload of moneys.

Good/bad they didn't include Loren the Amazon Princess which I actually paid for and is still backlogged
I wouldn't be so sure. He's a guy who names himself after his own game and charges $300 for it during a developer benefit event, "because he may" after all. Pretty hypocritical of him to even want his game on Steam after being in an event to boycott third-party distributor pricing.
Oh, this is that guy? I decided during that event that I wouldn't buy his games, just because he felt the need to needlessly be a dick. Thanks for the reminder. Too bad, the demo was neat.

I'm holding off on BaB3. Wasn't it BaB2 where they added another handful of games a week later and you had to make a separate purchase to get them, costing more overall? I'll wait until that happens again or the bundle is nearing its conclusion, whichever comes first.
So Groupees Build a Bundle 3 has SOTMC. Discuss.
http://groupees.com/bab3
Many of us got it in a Steam 5 games for $5 bundle before all these offsite bundles changed the way we all value indie titles. It's unplayed in my library. I'd be lying if I said it were in my backlog.
I can't remember who posted it, or one what site, but someone posted a comment from Groupees (twitter, I think?) yesterday saying that they had bundles in the works, including BAB3. It sounded like the were hinting at more than one bundle.

I seen it on a forum though, so not sure of the credibility, in regards to other bundles.
They often run a few PWYW music bundles alongside their games bundles, too. I've bought a few of them because the price seemed right.

Yeah they do run a lot of music bundles, but they may've been including the Winter Wolves bundle when they mentioned "bundles". I'm surprised they officially announced BAB3 but not the WW bundle. It's one of their best looking bundles IMO.
Guess I don't know how to link individual tweets.
Ah, ok. Thanks. I haven't been catching up with their tweets. I'm guessing they haven't announced a date yet?

That's all I can see on the Winter Wolves bundle. And I actually can't see it anymore, that tweet was removed, maybe I did link it properly.
Thanks for that!
No problem. It doesn't look too bad. I'm just hoping the Worms Armageddon that they bundle works alright on Windows 7.
Have any fellow CAGs had issues playing Fallout 3 GOTY on Win 7?

I've finally started to play it, but it keeps randomly locking up, which is annoying....
Fallout 3 supposedly doesn't play well with quadcore processors. I know some, perhaps most, people haven't had issues but it's a common enough problem to find people posting about it.

Try the solutions in this thread; they worked for me.

Worms Armageddon is by far the best 2D Worms game ever released... I only wish you could buy it by itself.

Where's the Worms Revolution 4-pack? :whistle2:(

I know, this game would be ideal for that. Also by making Worms Armageddon pre-order only, I think that they have killed the chance of getting the online a bit more popular.

All in all, I just really don't think they thought this one out very well... I'll stick with my hard copy of WA. I'd love to have it on Steam too, but not if I have to buy yet another new Worms game that pales in comparison to WA.

I'm as guilty as anyone else of having too many Steam games I'm not playing, but bundles like these just seem silly - are you guys going to be play this stuff or can you simply no longer resist the idea of a bunch of games for cheap?

Guess it's sort of both. On this last bundle, 99 Levels to Hell looks REALLY good, and it's on Greenlight, so that's another plus. Chrome + Chrome: Spec Ops also looks fun, even if it's flawed.

Then again... can't resist SotMC and CreaVures...

A friend showed me a Kickstarter for a game called Mercenary Kings, a Metal-Slug-esque RPG that looks absolutely amazing to me, and also includes a copy of their other game, Wizorb, which I'm guessing will be given away as a Steam key. The Kickstarter is almost over, so get in while you can!

For those interested, he also showed me the Pebble, an awesome-looking watch with some smartphone-like functionalities. The Kickstarter is over, and the price is somewhat high for a watch, but it's definitely cool to look at. ;)
Worms Reloaded made me want to stab myself in the face, so I am never buying another Worms game again.
Don't let that abomination fool you. They've done great things with the formula in the past (Worms: Armageddon). I played the hell out of that as a kid, but I completely agree with you.

Their implementation of the AI in that game is absolutely awful. Either they blow themselves up, or they find the exact angle and power it takes to land a grenade on top of your worm's head, perfectly balanced might I add. It's nothing BUT rage-inducing, but the MP wasn't that bad if you could get past the awkward controls.
A Worms Revolution 4-pack is up now. It slashes $15 off the price, which makes it $44.99. Good shit.
There we go. $11.24 a piece.

Worms Armageddon is easily worth $10 (it makes all the new Worms games look like crap, trust me), so I may bite on that price.

Played through the first 15 levels or so of 99 Levels to Hell. The gameplay is fairly solid and standard side-scrolling platform shooter fare though it feels like a game that could be done in-browser without losing much. Didn't unlock anything, and was kind of disappointed that when I selected To Menu it didn't warn me that all my progress past the first boss and all my character gear+stats would be wiped. Outside of that, the jumping physics seem a bit off to me -- air control seems far too limited if you have no momentum going into your jump. That said, that's my only real complaint about the game, and I look forward to future versions. Definitely well worth the bundle's price of admission.

Fallout 3 was crashing constantly for me on Win Vista x64 with a Phenom II x4 955 BE until I tried that fix. It's only my opinion but it was one of the most awesome games I've ever played.

^this

Good thing I already own that pony game...otherwise the rainbow....its calling me (& my wallet)

BTW: Are the rest of the games in the bundle multiplayer only (like the last bundle)...if there was singleplayer it would be appeal but multiplayer-only games aren't my thing?
It gets even better. This is the email I sent to EA asking to delete my account and explaining the issue:

This is their response:

I should mention that during the original chat they refused to give me the date of birth that was on my account.
Outstanding. You should check Consumerist to see if they already have an example like that, and if not, then submit it.

Why hello there, Scott Pilgrim the Game development team! Looks like this is one to keep an eye on when it releases.

Yes, Mercenary Kings looks pretty slick. Do want.

BAB3? I'll get it. I don't have the rainbow horsey game yet, and I can't resist adding more games to my Steam account.

As for the Winter Wolves bundle, what's interesting is that several of their games are on Greenlight. I voted for them, but I'm not holding out much hope. But I will probably pick up that bundle once it goes live.

Mercenary Kings doesn't impress. I'd rather have solid action than loot grind.

And, to be honest, it will release cheaper than the Kickstarter would be paid for. Since it is already funded, why pitch in to that?

Still a little upset that Project Giana only BARELY squeaked by. It HAD A DEMO. THATS MORE THAN EVERY OTHER KICKSTARTER HAS BEEN ABLE TO PROVIDE
