Welcome to the Steam Deal Thread V5! You can find link to past threads at the bottom of this post. Read post #2 of this thread for Steam FAQs and more.

This is a Wiki post. Please read this
We appreciate you helping keep this thread up to date. The sales change virtually every day so no one person has the time to update them all. If you notice a game is no longer on sale, feel free to delete its line from the sale list. Of course, if you see a game is on sale, add it to the list. Make sure your changes match the thread's format! For example, every game that's on sale is part of an unordered list. When adding a game to the list, copy an existing line and update the link, title, and prices. That way, the format stays correct. Do not list percentages off! We list the original price and the sale price here. If you have any suggestions for major changes to the post/thread, PM me (EastX) about them.
for instructions on updating the thread.

Preorder Deals - Updated 10/28
Group Buys - Updated 8/14

Several multiplayer Steam games are available in 2-packs or 4-packs. These packs offer a discount over buying multiple copies of a game separately. We also maintain group buy trade threads for several games, so please use those threads if you're interested in setting up a group buy.

Free Stuff - Updated 4/3

There are several free games and mods on Steam. These are a few choice ones; you can find a full list here. Note that free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.

Steam around CAG

If you are interested in joining the Steam CAG Community or participating in a trade or group buy with fellow Cheap Ass Gamers, please do so in the dedicated threads and not in the deal discussion thread. In the dedicated threads you will find CAGers with the same specialized interest who will be much quicker (and happier) to respond than in the Deals thread.

Steam Retail Key List

What is a CD key and where can I find it?

https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=7480-WUSF-3601

The CD Key is a serial number with a combination of 13, 18, or 25 letters and numbers - it can be found on a sticker inside your game's case or printed on the game's quick reference card.
The CD Key acts as your proof of purchase for the game - Steam Support may ask for it if you need to establish your ownership of an account. It is recommended that you keep your CD Key in a safe place to ensure the security of your account.
What didn't you like about it? I just didn't pick it up right away because I had so much else to play, and after I point I figured I would wait for a sale.
Doesn't bring all that much to the game. It gave me 2 days of play-ability before I had completed all the new content in addition to maxing out my level as a vampire. If you are someone who is looking to make a werewolf or vampire character more interesting, the effect is marginal. If you are just looking for new things to do in Skyrim, I think you will be disappointed with the length of content provided. Worth playing through, but I felt it was closer to a 5 - 10 dollar dlc rather than a 15-20 dollar dlc.

Even if it were going free to play tomorrow common business sense is that you vehemently deny it until it happens. If they were confirm the game was going F2P soon sales would take a huge hit because people would be less willing to pay for something they know they can get for free soon.

Apparently some publishers aren't worried about lost sales in between the announcement and execution of a game going to a F2P or free/subscription hybrid model.

We can thank LoL and Guild Wars 2 for this. I would personally love to see WoW and these shitty subscription services die out already.

Nice giveaway. Could have limited it to the CAG Steam group though? ;)

How does one get in said group?

Or just give me your Steam name and I'll friend and invite you to the group. ;)
Vinylsidiling. Thanks.

I bought Secret World for $25 last month when Origin had it on sale. I'm not continuing my subscription though. It has a good plot and a good idea but the population isn't really there and it feels mainly like a single player game until you reach the end game dungeons.

It'd be a perfectly good $25 game. It's not a good $25+$15+$15+$15+$15... game.
It's not a good $25+$15+$15+$15+$15... game.
This pretty much sums up my opinion of every MMO. Can't justify spending $15/month to grind the same content when I could just use that to buy a new game or two via various digital download sales.
For those of you who (like me) purchased Din's Curse and/or Din's Curse: Demon War from Direct2Drive and have since lost it (somewhat) to the abomination called Gamefly, if you email [email protected] asking for a Steam key in exchange for providing the keys you have for the games from Direct2Drive, now Gamefly, you'll be able to snag a Steam key for both (also, like me!). ;)
Thanks again for posting this. I got my key this afternoon.

It figures. Today my $50 gift certificate arrives from Best Buy, and BestBuy.com closes preorders for XCom. Guess I'm not preordering XCom, since that is the only way I'm affording it.

I'd love to see TSW become SP-based.
I'd love to avoid the $15 sub-fee AND the "always online" requirement.

My big problem w/ TSW from the Beta (one week before the game dropped) was the combat didn't feel that good at all;
the game has too many ARPG style quests (kill X enemies, kill X enemies in a certain fashion, find X people, go to X area, find X areas, etc);
and the zombie-infested area just didn't do much for me (probably b/c at that time, I recently finished Dead Island: Ryder White).

The storytelling, writing, dialogue, and voice-acting was fantastic - and really what you'd expect out of a SP game.

Hmmm, does bb sell gamestop gift cards? You could then turn that in to a steam wallet card. Doubt it though.

Other than that I'm sure someone could trade you for it.

They sell "kindle" cards which you can use at Amazon.
I have no problem with the idea of GFWL. It's just poorly implemented and buggy as hell. Plus some features while it makes sense on the 360 do not make sense on Windows. Having a portal that links 360 and PC cheevos and friends would be great, but it's just so poorly done I can't even seem to bother.
Ok that makes sense. I haven't run into those problems yet but I'm sure I will lol.

Was lookin at some of the Elder Scrolls games but Skyrim for $10 at TRU is going to make me go out of my way to check lol.

Oblivion for $10, cop or not?

Oblivion for $10? Nah. That's probably a good price for a physical copy, but you're better off buying the Deluxe Edition or GOTY on Steam for like half the price.

Wait until the deluxe edition is 75% off, may happen during the winter sale. It was 75% off during the summer sale.

I've been playing a lot of Faster Than Light (FTL) recently. In fact it's taken over from Guild Wars 2 as my go-to-game of choice.

It's pretty unforgiving, and 30 mins to 1 hour of work can evaporate in seconds, but I'm still finding it rewarding. I've unlocked my second and third ships which seem to be a little better than the standard one and I'm doing a little better each time. It's becoming obvious that you really can't expect every random event to go your own way and he further in I get, the more cautious I'm becoming. Still haven't found a solid balance between component upgrades and ship upgrades but I'm getting there.

Worth it if you're curious. Even if not, I'd say it's worth a punt in a sale.

P.s. Still haven't beaten it yet, even on Easy.

Things will eventually go your way and you'll manage to beat it. After my experience with easy, I will admit I still haven't tried normal and I'm a bit terrified of it.

FTL is extremely addictive. I finally beat it on Easy last night after 20+ hours of game play. Used the Engi Cruiser to do it. Now, I have four ships unlocked and working on the others now.

A major hint: Learn to board. Makes the last boss SO much easier.

Gamersgate just tweeted they're giving Civ V to all preorders of XCOM as well. If you have the IGN 15 percent code and don't care about TF2 stuff, that's likely the best deal on the game now.

Just an FYI that it is on Gamergate's VOID service for free.

VOID is still US and Scandanavia only at the moment as far as I know.

Thanks for the heads up! I keep missing out on these and luckily I'll be able to do it this time.
Doesn't work, was it a 1 time use ?
It's not a one time use code, so it should work for everyone with the PC version of Borderlands 2 from 2-4pm Eastern. You should try it again because I just tried it and got a golden key.
Nope, invalid key for me. I bought my Borderlands 2 version from Direct2Play, so maybe it's for U.S versions only
Are you entering it in the game or in the Steam client? It should be redeemed in game.

Should work as @DuvalMagic (Gearbox President Randy Pitchford) said on twitter it was timed for the EU crowd. There should be more codes later this evening for the after work NA crowd.

Codes are not region specific. Servers usually get hit hard when a code goes live and you get errors. It will work at some point.
