Welcome to the Steam Deal Thread V5! You can find link to past threads at the bottom of this post. Read post #2 of this thread for Steam FAQs and more.

This is a Wiki post. Please read this
We appreciate you helping keep this thread up to date. The sales change virtually every day so no one person has the time to update them all. If you notice a game is no longer on sale, feel free to delete its line from the sale list. Of course, if you see a game is on sale, add it to the list. Make sure your changes match the thread's format! For example, every game that's on sale is part of an unordered list. When adding a game to the list, copy an existing line and update the link, title, and prices. That way, the format stays correct. Do not list percentages off! We list the original price and the sale price here. If you have any suggestions for major changes to the post/thread, PM me (EastX) about them.
for instructions on updating the thread.

Preorder Deals - Updated 10/28
Group Buys - Updated 8/14

Several multiplayer Steam games are available in 2-packs or 4-packs. These packs offer a discount over buying multiple copies of a game separately. We also maintain group buy trade threads for several games, so please use those threads if you're interested in setting up a group buy.

Free Stuff - Updated 4/3

There are several free games and mods on Steam. These are a few choice ones; you can find a full list here. Note that free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.

Steam around CAG

If you are interested in joining the Steam CAG Community or participating in a trade or group buy with fellow Cheap Ass Gamers, please do so in the dedicated threads and not in the deal discussion thread. In the dedicated threads you will find CAGers with the same specialized interest who will be much quicker (and happier) to respond than in the Deals thread.

Steam Retail Key List

What is a CD key and where can I find it?

https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=7480-WUSF-3601

The CD Key is a serial number with a combination of 13, 18, or 25 letters and numbers - it can be found on a sticker inside your game's case or printed on the game's quick reference card.
The CD Key acts as your proof of purchase for the game - Steam Support may ask for it if you need to establish your ownership of an account. It is recommended that you keep your CD Key in a safe place to ensure the security of your account.

Can't get the shift key because of work. Oh well, either way can't wait to go and download Hell Yeah! tonight. Anyone know how big of a download Hell Yeah! is?

From @DuvalMagic (Gearbox President):
Sorry USA Vault Hunters at work - this test is for EU prime time. Fair chance at a prime time USA drop later today. Test, learn, improve...

So, you'll get a chance this evening :D

Tony just posted this code:

OCTOFUN1 - Takes 25% off any non pre-order or 30 day new release game.

Works with Sleeping Dogs so it would make it $22.49!

[quote name='louiedog']Another Borderlands 2 SHiFT code good for the next two hours starting now

5TW33-SRZFH-63J33-BJ3TJ-FXF9F[/QUOTE]

Awesome. Up to 7 Golden Keys :) Can't wait to level up and actually use them.

Looks like Skyrim is $27 on GMG after 25% off coupon. I think that's the cheapest it's been by a couple of dollars.

Edit: Dawnguard is also $11.

I've redeemed both today, so no limit, but they expire usually within two hours.

Got a local Toys R Us near you?
You might want to CALL THEM or check them out, to see if they got Skyrim PC.
It's been $10 there in Skyrim PC Retail Box (vanilla).

Edit: Dawnguard is also $11.
That's the cheapest I've heard for Dawnguard, so far.

it didnt give the expired message it said it was already redeemed. odd. oh well.
thanks for the quick response.

We're killing retail video game delivery!!!!! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :hot:

Wish I'd been keeping up with this thread better. I doubt my Toys R Us is going to have anything left when I finally make it out there.

[quote name='TraBuch']Bought a four-pack of War of the Roses on Amazon and had a Steam key left over, put it up on Steamgifts if anyone's interested.[/QUOTE]
Great giveaway but not wasting points on 2183 - 1 odds at this moment only to get worse. :)

In re of Dishonored giveaway.

[quote name='DPsycho']Wish I'd been keeping up with this thread better. I doubt my Toys R Us is going to have anything left when I finally make it out there.[/QUOTE]

Depends on the selection, my TRU still had alot of everything but there wasn't any Skyrim/D3/SC2 even available to buy. I'd still go check it out.

Not like I'm saving my points for a million copies of Rome: Total War, Broken Sword and Trine. Might as well use 'em and let 'em regenerate.

Bummed that I keep missing these shift codes because they show up when I'm at work. Agghhhh. Oh well. I've barely been able to play BL2 anyway haha.

Also been itching to play Sonic Generations. Life, y u so demanding??

[quote name='sunasun']We're killing retail video game delivery!!!!! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :hot:[/QUOTE]

I think Retail has often been shooting itself in the foot for NUMEROUS years, since Steam and other digital distribution services have came along & spoiled us w/ amazing sales on the regular...

I'm bummed that I'm missing all these Shift codes because my gaming laptop is still being built/in the mail and I don't even have BL2 installed yet. >.

[quote name='CheapLikeAFox']You don't have any other computer to install it on?

You don't have to start the game itself to redeem the codes, you do it in the main menu so any computer should be able to handle that.[/QUOTE]
Two problems on that end:

1. The only PC with internet access right now in my house is my mother's, and she refuses to have any game installed on it, lol.

2. I need to bring in the modem we have for a new one, because we're getting download speeds of 40kbps or lower right now. >_>

Oh well. xD

Hey man, speak for yourself.

If I save up long enough I know I can win Shadowgrounds Survivor and Fortix!

EDIT:

Oh, speaking of shitty SteamGifts giveaways, I was going to set up giveaways for these but thought it was way more trouble than it was worth.

If anyone wants: Alien Breed 2, Worms Crazy Golf, or the late additions games to the latest humble bundle (Wizorb, Bit.Trip.Runner, Gratuitous Space Battles and Jamestown) PM me and I'll send you the key.

On the last one I'd kind of prefer if you don't have more than 2 of the 4 games, as it's all one key and seems like a waste for someone just chasing after one of them.

EDIT2: Worms Crazy Golf and Humble Bundle extras are taken. Only Alien Breed 2 is left. Doubt anyone wants it, but still... PM me if you do.

I am seriously tempted, despite the fact that I haven't even played GTA IV yet from my backlog.

And yup, purchased. I like when Amazon does deals and I suppose I'm support them...with money!

Thanks, all, for alerting me to Dawnguard being $11.25.

Great time for that sale, what with Skyrim being $10 at ToysRUs (provided one can find it).

On another matter, am I going to see Dishonored under $45 before release? Not looking likely so far, and it launches in a little over five days in the US !

[quote name='Idiotekque']Ehh, weak, https://indiegamestand.com/ raised their "pay what you want" price to $0.25.

No thanks. Not impressed with the games so far.[/QUOTE]

Ahh, so $0.25 to download and $1 minimum for a Desura key, or just $0.25 for both?

I always paid a dollar and assumed that was the minimum.

It's $1 to get the Desura key. 25 cents gets you the DRM-free download without a key.

Hi guys, I have a few questions.
Im new to Steam , and rarely ever play PC games.
I just bought fallout 3 on steam to play while on vacation on the laptop.
I've put well more than 200 hours into the Xbox version and remember it being full of bugs.
I was under the impression that Steam auto updated your games. My version feels very buggy, how can I be sure im updated?

Also, I purchased the GOTY version but none of the dlc downloaded. How do I do that?
im sure in making some kind of noob mistake.
Thanks for any help.

[quote name='warboss zorbag']Also, I purchased the GOTY version but none of the dlc downloaded. How do I do that?

I don't have it in front of me, but in the launch menu you go into the options and have to manually check the DLC. It's dumb and I've heard some say it was automatic for them, but that's what I had to do. I actually played the whole game without the DLC (assuming they were loaded since that's the norm) and only learned the truth when I complained to someone about the ending and he said "Well, with the DLC..."

@Warboss

If you bought FO3: GOTY Version from Steam, you should be all set.

Boot the game up to boot the launcher; then click on Data Files.
MAKE sure Fallout3.esm is checked (that's the base game - need that on, at the very least).
MAKE sure all 5 of these DLC's are checked (turned on):
Anchorage.esm
BrokenSteel.esm
Point Lookout.esm
ThePitt.esm
Zeta.esm

Also, if you have performance issues, play w/ the game settings.
After booting the game up; w/ on the game launcher splash screen in front of you, click on Options.
Go play w/ the graphics settings, resolution, and all of that stuff.
Depending on your PC's power, you're going to have to figure out what to run the game at.
Always a good idea to let the game config it for you; play the game to see how it runs; and if it runs well, then you can later play w/ settings and jack them up to see what works for you (and what doesn't, so you might need to go turn some stuff off or down).
You might want to run a program like FRAPS in the background, to see how well or poorly your game runs.
You at least want to stay over 30 FPS (frames per second), normally; and if you're running 60 FPS then that is fantastic, BTW. :D

Enjoy!

It's updated unless you manually check a box to not update and then every time you run it'd ask you to update. Otherwise it's automatically downloaded anytime a new update comes out.

The bugs are because of the terrible engine it's on. Any engine that Bethesda creates is full of bugs galore. It's what they are known for.

[quote name='jshackles']Publisher weekend: THQ. Includes Darksiders II at 50%

Today's daily: Company of Heroes[/QUOTE]

May pick up Company of Heroes. Are both the dlc worth it, or just opposing front?

Darksiders II is showing at -64% for me, a price of £12.49. Not sure about the rest of you, might be a glitch, sixty four seems like a strange discount.

All DLC is a flat 50% off by the looks of it.

Thanks a lot guys. I'll try it tonight.

Im very familiar with Bethesda's games and buggy engines, but this is mad buggy.

Im just so not used to PC gaming. Lifetime console guy. Laptop is a standard HP deal, nothing special. So I pulled the performance to medium. That's what it defaulted to. I'd love a great gaming rig after seeing all the great stuff on Steam. Especially all these cool indie bundles I see on CAG.

If you guys had a Nexuiz 75% off coupon, that stacks with the sale price. The game might get cheaper this weekend, but they also might make it so the coupon no longer stacks. It makes the 4-pack $3.74. I have absolutely no idea how good the game is, but cheap is cheap and most of us just want to throw it in the backlog anyway, right?

[quote name='Preedatore']May pick up Company of Heroes. Are both the dlc worth it, or just opposing front?[/QUOTE]

If you only care about campaign, get the base game + Opposing fronts. If you only care about multiplayer and skirmish games, you only need Tales of Valor.

I would say around $1 is what that game might be worth. Might be too much. lol. It's not bad, but far from great and with so many bugs (not sure if they have gotten fixed) it made even trying MP a challenge.

Might snap up the Darksiders season pass at that price. Though will wait to see if it the game gets a daily and see if the DLC also gets a deeper discount.

Hah! Thanks for the reminder. No doubt the coupon hasn't been updated yet to not stack.

I snagged the 4 pack if anyone is looking for it on the cheap.
