Welcome to the Steam Deal Thread V5! You can find link to past threads at the bottom of this post. Read post #2 of this thread for Steam FAQs and more.

This is a Wiki post. Please read this
We appreciate you helping keep this thread up to date. The sales change virtually every day so no one person has the time to update them all. If you notice a game is no longer on sale, feel free to delete its line from the sale list. Of course, if you see a game is on sale, add it to the list. Make sure your changes match the thread's format! For example, every game that's on sale is part of an unordered list. When adding a game to the list, copy an existing line and update the link, title, and prices. That way, the format stays correct. Do not list percentages off! We list the original price and the sale price here. If you have any suggestions for major changes to the post/thread, PM me (EastX) about them.
for instructions on updating the thread.

Preorder Deals - Updated 10/28
Group Buys - Updated 8/14

Several multiplayer Steam games are available in 2-packs or 4-packs. These packs offer a discount over buying multiple copies of a game separately. We also maintain group buy trade threads for several games, so please use those threads if you're interested in setting up a group buy.

Free Stuff - Updated 4/3

There are several free games and mods on Steam. These are a few choice ones; you can find a full list here. Note that free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.

Steam around CAG

If you are interested in joining the Steam CAG Community or participating in a trade or group buy with fellow Cheap Ass Gamers, please do so in the dedicated threads and not in the deal discussion thread. In the dedicated threads you will find CAGers with the same specialized interest who will be much quicker (and happier) to respond than in the Deals thread.

Steam Retail Key List

What is a CD key and where can I find it?

https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=7480-WUSF-3601

The CD Key is a serial number with a combination of 13, 18, or 25 letters and numbers - it can be found on a sticker inside your game's case or printed on the game's quick reference card.
The CD Key acts as your proof of purchase for the game - Steam Support may ask for it if you need to establish your ownership of an account. It is recommended that you keep your CD Key in a safe place to ensure the security of your account.

[quote name='Dr Sasquatch']If you guys had a Nexuiz 75% off coupon, that stacks with the sale price. The game might get cheaper this weekend, but they also might make it so the coupon no longer stacks. It makes the 4-pack $3.74. I have absolutely no idea how good the game is, but cheap is cheap and most of us just want to throw it in the backlog anyway, right?[/QUOTE]
I think it's great, the only problem with the game is that not enough people play it.

I didn't like Nexuiz, but I own it on 360. There's no story and very few things are ever explained. Graphics are on par with Halo 3, but the HUD and aiming reticles are flawed and random bonuses are given to players based on performance. There's also no penalty for camping because you're not invincible when you spawn. It tries to be Quake/UT and fails hard. Both of those franchises are better, and that's what people stick with.

I'd love Nexuiz for LAN arena FPSing, but the game bugs out to hell and bleeds away all graphics after a certain amount of time. (No, this one in particular is not a mutator. I've checked. D: ) As it stands, it's rather unplayable for me as a result. :C

Definitely wanting to get all that Darksiders 2 DLC, but going to wait and see if it somehow gets even cheaper this weekend. Still feeling a slight sting for getting Darksiders 2 from GMG. I know Steam games get cheaper, but it usually takes longer than this. ;o;

Agreed. From my time with Nexuiz I'd much rather play Quake 3/Quake Live (free)/UT (any) for similar gameplay and a better experience. It's been awhile, but two of my big complaints were it taking forever just to get into a game, which is a bad sign right after launch, and no mid-match joining. I'd sit around for 5-10 minutes before a game started, then someone would quit which would lead to someone else quitting who didn't want to play on mismatched teams. Then you were playing a 3-on-1 game trying desperately to find the one guy before your teammates did.

Buying an arena shooter for a console is silly. I can't even imagine it plays similarly.

So Darksiders II, how is the game, and how bad is the port?

Essentially how better of a sequel is it over the first game and well I heard bad things about the port. Is that true?

[quote name='Carlmundo']Groupees Be Mine 5 Bundle should be up very shortly. Here's the YouTube video with the lowdown:

$1 minimum gets you :NEO Scavengers, King's Bounty: The Legend, X-Blades.
$5 gets you the above and Tropico 3 + Oddworld:Strangers Wrath HD[/QUOTE]

Hmm that is an intriguing bundle.

Looks like a dollar from me. I want strangers wrath but I have tropico 3 and strangers wrath will be 2.50 again at some point.

I haven't finished the game but I don't think its a bad port. They've patched in more options (though its been a month or so since I last got a chance to play it). The game ran smooth for me, looked good and never gave me any issues. I can't comment on the pc controls cause I used a 360 pad. As for the game itself, I feel it took what was good about the first game, made it better, and added in loot and a conversation wheel. Over all I liked it a lot more than I did the first game.

I didn't ever think we'd see Tropico 3 in a bundle. Makes me regret buying it over the summer sale, but at least it was pretty cheap.

Now I have to decide if I save Darksiders II for Wii-U or pick it up now . I like the first game, and this sounds good.

Already have Stranger's Wrath and King's Bounty. Might put in the $5 for Tropico but... eh, it's been cheaper individually. No big desire to play the other stuff.

Yeah, and Tropico 3 probably won't be the gold version. I bought the Oddboxx when it was 75% off, so I already have all of the Oddworld games. The $1 minimum is the best deal for me, especially considering I want X-Blades the most out of all the games included.

Random, but would someone explain to me how DOTA 2 works exactly? I applied for the Beta test or whatever and I got in, but now I have the base and the test.

Its the Normal version of Tropico 3

one of the admins on the groupees site said that steam specifically put the "normal" version of tropico 3 on the store for this bundle.

The only game out of the bundle i was really really wanting is Strangers wrath but i dont feel like spending $5 for it when itll most likely be around the same price or cheaper during the steam sales this year.

Honestly, I'd wait. It will probably be $25 or lower again by the end of the year. I know I'm waiting for more details about the WiiU version. I know it will contain more content.

[quote name='mtxbass1']Can anyone comment on the Saints Row 3 season pass? Is it worth it and will I get all available DLC including costumes?[/QUOTE]

No, it isn't worth it considering that it'll probably be a daily deal within the next couple days. There's also the fact that the game, season pass + all additional DLC was around $14 at one point during the Summer Sale.

The season pass includes three side missions, Genkibowl VII, Gangstas in Space, and The Trouble with Clones. Additional DLC is not included.

Damn okay. I'll keep an eye on it being a daily deal then.

Thanks!

It's not... I said this before but I loved SRTT (as did many others) but I disliked all the DLC (as did many others). The season pass DLC lack much of the magic and humor that made the main game so great, and even the interesting ones don't let you play with the toys in the SRTT world after you're done with the quick 1-2 hour DLC. Even though I only paid like $3 for it, I felt I was ripped off.

i enjoyed the dlc missions. though you can finish them pretty quickly. They seemed pretty humorous to me. I just wish it would let me permanently unlock the Saints Flow ability after beating it. ah well.

The very worst type of DLC. Those who buy it feel like they got ripped off. Those who didn't buy it feel like they missed out. It ends up pissing off everyone.

Of course, you could say ALL dlc other than Half Life 2's episodes falls into this description. ;)

They've already detailed what's in it. The preorder DLC (Argul's Tomb, some equipment, and the Gamestop quests that just got released seperately), basically. And the controller only ability that lets you play the game on the gamepad's screen (neat feature, but not the type of game I'd want to play on that screen). Unless playing the game on the screen tickles your fancy, you're going to save more money buying it now, especially since the DLC is on sale, something you don't exactly see often on consoles.

Just beat FTL: Faster Than Light
on easy
, YEAH!

I'm going to celebrate by doing the ironing I forgot about earlier.

p.s. Actually felt rewarding, beating the final boss. A rare feeling these days.

[quote name='M_F_A_H']In for King's Bounty. I guess I only need Crossworlds now to complete the set.[/QUOTE]

Crossworlds is just an 'enhancement' to Armored Princess. Not sure if I'd even call it an expansion although I think it might add another continent. Don't even know if getting The Legend is worthwhile to you unless you absolutely loved AP and are craving more. The games are fairly indistinguishable with AP having more refined game play elements. Story is forgettable and just used to shoehorn in the tactical battles. It's funny because they are releasing another one called Warriors of the North which... again... is fairly indistinguishable.

I've got some of those Nexuiz coupons if anyone is looking at picking it up during the sale. As much as it pains me to support this game since I was terribly disappointed with it as a huge UT/Quake fan.

I have 8 coupons for the 75%off Nexuiz duel dlc mode. Giving it to people who quote this post.

The dlc comes down to 0,67$ using this coupon!

aa.jetta, can I have one of the coupons for Nexuiz? I already own the game, but my brother would like it too :)

[quote name='CheapLikeAFox']Tony just posted this code:

OCTOFUN1 - Takes 25% off any non pre-order or 30 day new release game.

Works with Sleeping Dogs so it would make it $22.49![/QUOTE]

That's a pretty good price.

Been trying to offload my Sleeping dogs AMD coupon for it for $20.

I just can't get into GTA type of games. Saints Row is the same way.

It was free with my 7950 card, I haven't touched the scratch off for the serial. Registers in Steam.

If I would have know earlier I would have taken it off your hands. It's a beautiful looking game and the gameplay is pretty fun. Don't know if there's a demo but I'd give it a try if you could demo it.

Booted up don't take it personally, babe and found that tab/ctrl are skip. That carried over to Analogue.

Darksiders 2 is very tempting. I'll probably wait to see if it drops a bit lower this weekend.

Any insight on the season pass? Oddly it doesn't seem to include the current two dlc's, Argul's tomb and death rides.

No problem. Not to say they're bad games, I enjoyed them but ultimately you sort of hit the wall doing the umpteenth battle. I put like fifty or so hours into The Legend and don't even think I finished. Put another thirty or so into AP and just stopped playing because the repetition got to me.

[quote name='BernardoOne']I have 8 coupons for the 75%off Nexuiz duel dlc mode. Giving it to people who quote this post.

The dlc comes down to 0,67$ using this coupon!

aa.jetta, can I have one of the coupons for Nexuiz? I already own the game, but my brother would like it too :)[/QUOTE]

I can't get the regular Nexuiz coupon to apply, only the Duel Mode DLC coupon. I would say that they made the coupon not apply yet again.

There's a giveaway on SG from the creators of Bloody Trapland. There'll be 1,000 winners, but they still need the support on Steam Greenlight. I didn't know you could create a giveaway for a game that isn't on Steam...but okay.

in case it wasn't pointed out yet, it is cheaper to buy the CoH games all individually, not the bundle. I hope this helps some fellow CAGs out.

Mine still seems to be showing up on the checkout page. I already own Nexuiz so I don't know how that affects a 4 pack. Does it not work when you go through checkout?

I noticed that it's THQ Weekend in SteamLand. I'm expecting the first two Red Faction games to show up for $2.49.

One of these days, I'm going to break down and actually pick the original Red Faction up. I have memories of playing the game on the PS2 back in the day.
