Welcome to the Steam Deal Thread V5! You can find link to past threads at the bottom of this post. Read post #2 of this thread for Steam FAQs and more.

This is a Wiki post. Please read this
We appreciate you helping keep this thread up to date. The sales change virtually every day so no one person has the time to update them all. If you notice a game is no longer on sale, feel free to delete its line from the sale list. Of course, if you see a game is on sale, add it to the list. Make sure your changes match the thread's format! For example, every game that's on sale is part of an unordered list. When adding a game to the list, copy an existing line and update the link, title, and prices. That way, the format stays correct. Do not list percentages off! We list the original price and the sale price here. If you have any suggestions for major changes to the post/thread, PM me (EastX) about them.
for instructions on updating the thread.

Preorder Deals - Updated 10/28
Group Buys - Updated 8/14

Several multiplayer Steam games are available in 2-packs or 4-packs. These packs offer a discount over buying multiple copies of a game separately. We also maintain group buy trade threads for several games, so please use those threads if you're interested in setting up a group buy.

Free Stuff - Updated 4/3

There are several free games and mods on Steam. These are a few choice ones; you can find a full list here. Note that free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.

Steam around CAG

If you are interested in joining the Steam CAG Community or participating in a trade or group buy with fellow Cheap Ass Gamers, please do so in the dedicated threads and not in the deal discussion thread. In the dedicated threads you will find CAGers with the same specialized interest who will be much quicker (and happier) to respond than in the Deals thread.

Steam Retail Key List

What is a CD key and where can I find it?

https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=7480-WUSF-3601

The CD Key is a serial number with a combination of 13, 18, or 25 letters and numbers - it can be found on a sticker inside your game's case or printed on the game's quick reference card.
The CD Key acts as your proof of purchase for the game - Steam Support may ask for it if you need to establish your ownership of an account. It is recommended that you keep your CD Key in a safe place to ensure the security of your account.

I think he whole bitching is because it would skewer the contributor numbers. But yes, it's pretty ridiculously, it's the whole e-peen thing, idiots looking for attention and who feel that other people posting this game they got for free might will contribution value when they don't "deserve it". Steamgifts is a weird "community" indeed

It's easy to understand. Every free giveaway nowadays gets bombarded by idiots who don't even want the game, they just want to get as many copies to give away on SG for contributor status or internet cred. So instead of being able to go the site to try to register/enter for the giveaway, you then have to play lotto on SG and enter to get these copies that were supposed to be free to begin with.

I don't know. I've never actually hosted a giveaway on steamgifts. But if I had bought Skyrim to give away and paid $30 to $60 for it, it would piss me off if somebody got the same contributor value by giving away several copies of The Ship that they got for free. I mean, what's the fucking point of bothering to actually buy something to give away if you can just give something that you got for free and get the same (or close to it) contributor value?
I do find it funny the amount of $2 and under DLC that has now popped up on SG lol
I do not, because it can mean no more free nice things in future to me.

Well, there is actually a rule that prevents that. Keys from bundles or that were given away in large amounts have reduced contributor value(kinda) It only gives you contributor value if you have 80% of "normal" giveaways If I recall right.

@erequena Yeah I get that, it's stupid how people bitch about someone getting better contributor status, wether it's a free game or no, it still counts, there's nothing to do about it.

@Fox And yeah Fox, I did that when I entered SG, I saw a lot of giveaways outside that web and entered every single one of them, but then I thought that was just stupid because I won't play the game, so I don't do it anymore.

Bard's Tale is a legitimately funny and clever game (as opposed to one that just uses self-reference in place of humor) carried by expert performances by Tony Jay and Cary Elwes. The gameplay itself is middling though. the amount of branching dialogue routes almost scream for a replay.

I recommend playing Normal or maybe Easy. Fewer save points on hard actually take away the Save point before the final battle thus preventing you from viewing all three endings without having to climb the boring final tower again and again.

Where are you seeing that you get the original games with The Bard's Tale? I didn't see any mention on the game's store page. I would easily pay $2.49 to have them all on Steam.
As part of inXile's 10th anniversary, The Bard's Tale is now 75% off making it £1.74 in the UK and $2.49 in the US and now includes the original trilogy of games with it.
Nice! I was thinking about trying it on Android for $5 from Google Play but $2.50 for PC sounds better all around.

Also, I don't know if this is one of the fixes but in the console version of Bard's Tale the unlock system was terrible. You literally sat there repeatedly clicking through priest dialogue dozens of times to unlock art and stuff. The PC version I believe fixed this by offering a much much larger donation and way faster unlocking of the extra goodies.
Today gets better -- Contrast was Greenlit on Steam. I was hoping it would make it. The concept and art style is hella cool.
Wow, yeah. It looks a little stiff in those trailers, but still pretty cool.

Postal 2 complete was greenlit too. Wonder if they will give groupees steam keys. I believe it came with bemine 3.

Damnit, I want to see La Mulana greenlit so I can buy it. I been really wanting to play the remake but I never felt the need to buy the non Steam version.

It probably deserves it most out of any games I've seen on there.

Hopefully for December. I don't want to buy a DRM free version unless it's on Desura (no clue if it is), but I really want to play it.

It's kind of funny how Greenlit works sometimes. Isn't contrast like a newer game just put on there with a kickstarter going? Odd how it gets approved but other games still are not approved.

Was going to pass on Choplifter until I saw the free Zombie DLC!! Must buy now, relive that scene from 28 weeks later.

I'll admit that I know nothing about it except that I saw it during the first day or two of Greenlight and thought it looked groovy.

I looked it up and it must be another game, couldn't find any kickstarter for it. The january 2013 release date must have confused me.

I still have a steam key for Dangerous High School Girls in Trouble and a Desura key for The Network. Would anybody like either one of those?
Hopefully for December. I don't want to buy a DRM free version unless it's on Desura (no clue if it is), but I really want to play it.
I ended up buying it on GOG a week or two ago for $10. Ideally I'd love to have it on Steam (and will probably double dip if it does ever get greenlit), but having it as a completely standalone exe was acceptable in my book. (As opposed to having to install a game purchase service just for La Mulana and nothing else).

A big reason I went ahead and sprang (sprung? spring. . . ed? ) for it was the fact that it seems to have no progress on the green light process. Nevermind it being an excellent quality game (I honestly have yet to hear anyone dislike it. Maybe RollingSkull can prove me wrong here. ;P ), but it gets completely overshadowed because it simply doesn't have the word of mouth behind it that many other titles on Greenlight do. It's slightly frustrating, and has me concerned that in the end greenlight is still going to get the most popular titles on Steam, rather than unheard of gems. (You know, games that actually would classify as indie. ;P )

the Android version is apparently on sale now for $2.99. Steam version is still a better deal, especially w/ the original games, but still if you want it mobile that version is on sale too.

I have the Steam version but will probably grab the Android one now. It's nice to have decent, non Angry-birds casual-ish games on the go. There's fairly few of them imho.

I would buy La Mulana in a hot minute on Desura but I don't see it on there. I have no interest in DRM free GOG or elsewhere.

I really wish more of the developers with games on Greenlight would put their games on Desura. A fair number of people especially among the Steam crowd want a client and Desura is already the default place to go for non Steam indie games thanks to Indie Royale, Gala and Groupees.

Yeah that's the bad part about Greenlight is that it's more about who can get the most attention than anything else.

The Network looks interesting, and I'd take you up on it if I didn't see that I already owned it when I checked it out on Desura.
You had me at Cary Elwes ;)
Cary Elwes seems to play the part with a bit of ironic distance. He is always two or three keys less energetic than the other actors, even when he's angry, but it makes his dry wit all the better. I am still curious whether it was a directed choice, one of his own, or if he just phoned it in but did so in an accidentally entertaining way.

Needless to say, I have trouble thinking of an RPG that wouldn't be improved by having the Bard as a character.
When did Steam put Resident Evil 6 PC up on Steam Store for Release in 2013?
Can't wait to see how THIS on PC turns out...
I double-dipped on RE5 for PC but never really played it. I CAN confirm that the Lost Planet 1 and 2, and Dead Rising 2 and OtR run wonderfully on PC. DMC4 reportedly works beautifully, and both DMC4 and RE5 apparently got unique modes which amped up the enemies far beyond anything you would see in normal play. Shame RE5 PC never got the DE/LiN/Mercs Reunion DLCs. And shame they all use GFWL.

Either way, apart from RE6's innate middling uneven quality (Which you should expect after RE5 if you were at all paying attention), you have no reason to fear the PC port for RE6

Choplifter HD Mini Review:

First impressions based on the Tutorial alone - definitely worth my $3 bucks. (I went ahead and got the DLC). Haven't gotten to the zombie missions, but they should be fun. So far it plays as a Crazy Taxi in the air lite. No free world flying around so far, missions are very linear. Go from A to B, pick up C on the way. Go from A to B, come back to A, etc. Kill baddies on the way. Controls are simple, directional buttons to fly, you can crash the helicopter I think, but you'd have to try pretty hard. So far minigun and rockets are fun. Has native 360 support.

So basically, feels like a PSN or Live game (which it is) but is good mindless fun IMO.

Now to get to those damn zombies.

Oh, you scared me! I didn't see that animated fox gif, thought you trashed it. Forgot it only shows in first post per page. Gonna buy it and Bard too. Thanks.
I ended up buying it on GOG a week or two ago for $10.
Oh it's on GOG, well then, I might pick it up sometime. I just didn't want to buy a exe from some service I am not familiar with but GOG I can defiantly support.

Just beat hell yeah while waiting for XCOM to download. I enjoyed Hell Yeah, a fun little game.

I played the Hell Yeah demo on PSN the other day. It was pretty interesting for a platformer, but I felt like I was high on bath salts while playing it. Devil rabbits, demons, etc.
As part of inXile's 10th anniversary, The Bard's Tale... now includes the original trilogy of games with it.
Thanks for the heads-up. I've waffled on The Bard's Tale in the past, but some retro gaming to sweeten the deal won me over.

FYI, the trilogy isn't included YET (but I assume it'll be patched into existing copies... hope so, anyway since I bought it expecting the trilogy to be included)
We are waiting for Steam to update to make the trilogy available as part of purchase. Sorry for the delay.
It looks like we have a full week to take advantage of the sale price. I'll wait until they update just to play it safe. Even if I bought The Bard's Tale now, it would still go to the backlog.

I've got a copy of The Bard's Tale sitting in my inventory that I bought during the summer sale. Now I don't know if I should add it to my library, or if I should try and unload it on some unsuspecting sap and re-buy the game.

RE4 PC was great, as long as you had a controller.
RE5 PC was awesome, IMHO.

I want to see how RE6 turns out, given the polarization of the reviewers and opinion's of gamers b/c of the actual game itself; scope; size; and its actual design.

Has nothing to do w/ the technical stuff - as lately, Capcom's been dishing out good PC ports since people whined about RE4 PC.
SF4 PC and SFxT PC both turned out very well.

And yes, DMC4 was a good port (DX10 support!)....though, I flat-out sucked at the game.
I should give DMC4 another chance, some time...
As part of inXile's 10th anniversary, The Bard's Tale is now 75% off making it £1.74 in the UK and $2.49 in the US and now includes the original trilogy of games with it.

Choplifter HD is also available at the same price.
Thanks for the info. I've also passed on the game several times, but I've always been interested in picking it up. With the inclusion of some extra games, maybe I'll finally pick it up.

Maybe.

This.

You'll get the trilogy for free even if you already own the Steam copy of Bard's Tale (2005)
Yes if you already own Bard's Tale from Steam you will get the trilogy for free. Should be up any time!
Weird, very weird. The updated-to-run-on-XP versions of the originals were included in the retail version of Bard's Tale (2004).
