Nobody laugh, but Ernest Scared Stupid scared the crap out of me for at least a month. I had to have been 8, but we watched it at a friend's birthday party (which was also on Halloween). The troll (which was just a guy in a dopey looking suit) kidnaps kids and turns them into little statues and keeps them on a shelf in his lair. The thought of that happening to me was the scariest thing imaginable at the time.

Click on the spoiler if you want to give your 8 year old self night terrors:

That movie was so awesome, I used to watch it with my cousin all the time.

Fortunately for me I used to walk to the mom and pop VHS video rental store down the street and get VHS tapes of the original Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday the 13th and Fright Night when I was around 8 years old. The owner was awesome.. Man how I miss those days and I love horror movies =)

Awesome. You were 8. How old were you when the owner turned you on to porn?

This meshes with the scary theme here and what not.

The Phantom Page

Nothing shopped here. Seriously, that would be weak.

Yeah I finished most of the campaigns in RE6 (all except for Ada's) with asheskitty the other day and had a great time with it. I thought it was a lot better than the reviews gave it credit for, and definitely worth the $8 I paid on GamersGate. The PC ports of RE5 and RE6 are great, so I expect no less for Revelations. Hopefully GG will have a price mistake on Revelations soon ;)

I really had a blast in RE6's coop. The visuals are very good and surprisingly well optimized (my GTX 660 was pulling 110-120 FPS @ 1920x1200). The story and characters had depth. Honestly I didn't look at the reviews much, better than 75% on Capcom, sold. I found RE6 to be quite solid; I'd guess downer reviews had different expectations. I'd last seen Resident Evil as RE1/2 on PSX.
Whoa, whoa - when the heck was RE6 cheap on GG? Did I miss this sale recently?

{eyebrow raised}

Is that anything like The Phantom Pain? ;)

Holy carp. It didn't take long for the card market on the groupees games to get undercut massively. Cards dropped nearly a buck in price in the course of two hours.

Is there a way to show all of the games you own that have steam cards?  I thought they would show up automatically under the badge page when new ones are released, but I just noticed that several of my games whose cards I sold instead of kept disappeared from the page altogether.

If you're using Enhanced Steam you can use this link to see all the games that have cards. The ones you own will be highlighted in green.

Pff, I don't use SAM either, but if you're ingame stuck at a login screen, you're still going to get card drops
I just figured that out with FS. :dunce:

I didn't think FS would drop cards if it was stuck at the login in screen.

nore do I, and I've actually been playing them (for the most part) :joystick: :error: :fridge:
Same, I played Stacking the other day. Though, the whole time I wanted to quite and play BL2.

Bytheway, anyone beat this game yet? I'm stuck at the Developer's Garden.

Title screen works for cards even being in a launcher and not the actual game works. It doesn't check at all if you are playing. Basically as long it's showing you as in the game while you are logged in on chat then you'll get cards.

SAM has its uses. I used it to get the publicly posted Testing Achievment in Realms of Arkania because the game is such a pre-alpha unplayable hot ass mess made by amateurs who made casual browser games before this and I wanted to have some sort of souvenir. Not like I can actually play the game.

I don't use it either, it would kill my doughish figure. lol

same here and actually have had some fun and also realized that most games suck ass.

Watership Down was an incredible bloodbath/gorefest. Could've used some TLC from the marketing standpoint, but otherwise it was a great acid trip of an animated film. Aeon Flux ain't got nothing on two rabbits violently maiming each other underground.
Yeah. The book's rather disturbing, too. I watched Raiders of the Lost Ark at about the same age, and found Watership Down far more frightening. Melting Nazis have nothing on a psychopathic rabbit.

Okay, I was bullshitting.

To this day, every time I see a dog's head I piss myself.
Not just that head, but the way it emerged from that dark cave, glowing green eyes appearing first. Any dark cave-like space seemed scary for quite awhile after that. Did I mention there was a dark cave-like corner in our basement and that my bedroom was in said basement?

Awww, c'mon! Not the Gmork! He sounds so nice and reasonable (and EVIL).....
Searching on that name gives some nice images and videos that demonstrate the scariness of that character.

And it wasn't just the Gmork. It was the concept of The Nothing, too. That was quite disturbing in a completely different way. I'm not a big fan of horror movies, really, but I've seen plenty, and none quite scared me like those two did. (And that includes, as I said, things like Raiders of the Lost Ark and Young Sherlock Holmes when I was at a similar age and Predator not long after.)

I don't recall any gaming experiences that match those couple of childhood movies in terms of being scary, though I do recall physically jumping when first meeting the T-Rex in the original Tomb Raider.

To anyone who hasn't seen Watership Down, this was marketed as a kid's movie during release. It's a good movie with a good story, but it's generally depicted in such a disturbing way.

Warning: Lots of blood and violence.

passed during the SSS, maybe now is the time to bite :whistle2:k I guess after so long the odds of it being bundled are pretty slim, but you never know...
I like audiosurf alot, but I like ay game where I can choose my own music. The complaint is that some people say it's way too casual and I can see that. Controls are basic and so is the concept, just move your ship to collect colored blocks. That said playing a game set to some of my favorite songs is always a plus to me.

Two that were shown to kids frequently. Nothing much. Just a little creepy. Okay, maybe the second one is a lot creepy depending on who you are.

I've seen FP dubbed and in French so many times... One of the most remarkable film scores, art direction ever, etc. etc.

With all this talk about scary stuff, how about a deal that is actually on topic?

http://www.bundlestars.com/deals/horror-fest-bundle/

Anybody play any of these games? Are they any good?

PS Watership Down scared the fuck out of me as a kid and I was surprised when I got around to reading the book in high school that it was more kind of serious fantasy than supernatural horror.
pretty sure these have all been bundled before, and none of them got particular praise IIRC when they were discussed. For $1 it isn't a huge gamble though, the real question is if you actually have any plans to play them ;)

Please don't say that. Someone narced again. Had shit deleted from my permanent record. Some recent posts in Groupees were wiped and not just mine. Not too many though.

Also, today's Steam daily deal is a real doozy. Wow!

I put over 100 hours into Audiosurf. The game is shockingly deep in Pusher and Pointman Elite modes, but unfortunately the game itself doesn't really teach you about chaining and the more advanced aspects of maintaining your multiplier and getting crazy scores. (For an example, see this page.) But it's all in the game, if you dig deep enough to learn it. If you get into scoreboard chasing it can really suck up time.

For those who may have gotten Inquistor on GOG or Desura and would like a Steam key a rep from the developer says you can contact them about it at http://feedback.cinemax.cz/?email=Inquisitor

----

I found a Steam forum thread that lists all the Greenlit games that gave serial keys in indie bundles. I had a few games that I never activated from bundles purchased a while ago, so it helped out.

http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3101992
It's very handy. I use that thread all the time. It's hard sometimes to keep track of what added keys after the fact and most bundle groups don't even notify people when they add the keys.

The origin of my handle is from this great book.

Audiosurf is buggy and hasn't been updated in years. The leaderboards are full of cheaters and the devs rarely take care of them. I browsed their forum and they're working on the sequel, so I wouldn't bother with the game. There's better stuff out there now.

Edit: Oh. Audiosurf has never been in an indie bundle.

Audiosurf wasn't in a Indie Bundle but I do think it was one of the games you could get during the Steam winter coal event from crafting coal so you could get it for super cheap.

I think I need Saints Row 4 in my life, does anyone have plans to buy in the near future? I can't find any good deals on it, just the 10% off at Steam & Amazon. Oh I just saw it in the group buy thread for $36, not bad.

Humble Bundle "The Pink Dildo" Bundle will have it and Saints Row, Saints Row II and Saints Row the Third, so I'd wait for that.

Avencast is supposed to be a pretty solid ARPG (but with how many good ARPGs we all have backlogged, might not be that appealing). I've heard good about Scratches, and it has pretty fair reviews on GOG. Adventure horror games are always fun for me, I've been meaning to fire it up for ages, but after playing Dark Fall: Lost Souls 6+ months ago... the only thing I'm AFRAID of is another shitty adventure horror experience.

Sometimes I get the impression that you're this guy irl.

If the dev garden is the part I think it is then a mixture of Invul potions and teleport scrolls should help.

Gnomes take you down to 1 hp from a distance no matter what, but can't kill you til you get close.

So get close, pop an invulnerability potion, and teleport back to the left side of the screen right before it wears off.

Repeat until finished.

Holy crap, people showed children this movie? This would have scarred me forever, it might still have. Plus Marilyn Manson music never helps make things seem less scary.

Believe it or not, I just got another foil...my last drop from Awesomenauts.  That's three foils in two days, from...20 drops.  Kind of insane.  Nobody else is experiencing this?

(Of course, none of these foils are even worth a buck, but better than the 9 cents I'd get from the vanilla card, I guess...)
