WTF, Max Payne 3 refuses to start, it gets past the publisher logos, and sits on the "Press to Start" black screen, doesn't respond to anything. A brief popup says to link to social club for DLC to work, but I can't click OK and then the popup disappears. I played this game fine at launch with no problems. Can't find this specific issue via google, it's mostly other startup problems.

Anyone experienced this?

Can you log into Social Club outside of the game?

 
I fixed it by hitting the Home key on my keyboard, which brought up the Social Club interface, and then logging into Social Club, and then allowing it to link my (Steam?) account to the Social Club account.

I don't understand why I had to do this, I played through the entire game with no problem last year or whenever it was released. Lucky I stumbled onto the fact that Home brings up that menu, I had no idea and it doesn't give you any indication whatsoever other than "Press (Start/enter icon) to Start".

Who purchases directly from Origin any way, they have the worst prices and they're proud of it. The only value of this policy that I can see is if it pressures Steam to introduce something similar. This has probably all been said before.

So... I was browsing the market to see how much Total War cards are running for. Has anyone ever stumbled upon a profile loaded with porn?

Profles? No (though I don't really look). Groups? Yes.

I've gotten random invitations to Russian groups full of porn before. As much as I love Russians and porn, it's actually quite annoying.

 
I guess it's worth mentioning that there's a new Ubisoft build a bundle thing on Nuuvem. Two games for $14ish, plus you have a choice of a "free" third game (Blazing Angels 2, Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway, or CSI: Fatal Conspiracy).

Not the best one ever, all Uplay, but Anno 2070 is on the list...

And that adds a bit of a HOPES DELETED twist to it.

I still think stores need to bear some responsibility for selling a working product even if it's not one they publish. Taste is subjective sure, but if a game is clearly horribly unfinished, buggy and unplayable then the store needs to step up.

Too bad EA didn't have this policy at the Sim City launch. The next Dragon Age game might provide an opportunity to see if they will put their money where their mouth is though.

There was a lot when they first did their social media revamp with the picture feeds and all that, but they had long since taken care of that...I thought.

I still have yet to see a concrete, official, reliable source that the Tages was removed from Anno 2070. Ubisoft support is still telling people it's there. As far as I'm concerned it's there until an official source says otherwise, so basically even without Steam you get two layers of DRM, one of which is a really shitty one. CALM DOWN you fanboi. :p. I'm not insulting your UPlay waifu. I'm insulting that skank Tages.

You can add ANY picture into a game's screenshot folder as long as you name it properly, add a thumbnail (I think), etc. A quick Google search would explain the process if you're interested.

Pretty sure the cheapest was pre-ordering it, since it gave you two copies, so you could either sell the extra or split the purchase with someone.

I just picked it up, after repeatedly having non-buyers remorse from the previous sales.

It is fun. You're dropped into the world with nothing, and have to survive. Pick stuff up, craft stuff together to make better stuff that allows you to pick up better stuff. After a couple days of eating flowers and carrots, I just had my first frog leg dinner, and am anxiously awaiting some braised rabbit stew now that I realized I needed to put some of those carrots into the trap which has been sitting embarrassingly empty whilst bunnies frolic around it.

Looks like it's regularly updated as well, although you'll come across stuff with huge STILL IN ALPHA signs, which is somewhat jarring. Hope the devs keep up, i'm having a blast so far.

I think that's correct. The SSS Don't Starve 2-pack price was $13.49 (or $6.75 per).

So, this GMG price w/ the 20% off coupon ($6.72) makes it $0.03 cheaper than the SSS price was 5 weeks ago.

THREE CENTS! Or the going rate of :postcardb: + :parts: + any other random worthless card crafted emoticon. :whee:

I put a few hours into Don't Starve during the summer sale. They add new thing fairly often (every 14 days or so) so I need to stop back soon and see what's new. The game is basically wander around and collect things to survive. You are thrown in with no info and just have to figure it out. I enjoyed the few hours I played and it is the kind of game that is easy to go back and start a new game.

 
The rather obscure upstart bundle website "FlyingBundle" looks to be close to finally launching their "Welcome" bundle soon. Which is good news for those who are still interested in Ittle Dew (Steam).

They just released some information surrounding what it'll include today (from their Steam Community page):

"Tier 1 - Minimum $1 

- Retention + OST (Desura + Greenlight) 
- Bob Came in Pieces (Steam + Desura) 
- Micy Roll (Desura) 
- Beep (Steam + Desura) 
- Plith (Desura) 
- Mysterious Game (Steam) - It will be announced second week

No word on a scheduled release date but probably sometime before September I'd assume.

This bundle actually looks refreshing from what IndieGala & Groupees keep rehashing. Bundle Stars & Indie Royale seem to keep things a little fresher with less repeats most of the time. Nothings perfect, but here's to hoping FlyingBundle does well.

Ittle Dew is also in the new Groupees Be Mine 9 bundle which launches in about 7 hours. I suspect all of us CAGs will own Ittle Dew before this Flying Bundle hits.

However, I'm still looking forward to this bundle because I don't already have Bob Came in Pieces, Clones, or Polynomial. And it's possible I'm missing one or both of the mystery games, but I'm not banking on it.

Be Mine 9 looks way better, since the only game in TFB that looks like something I want is Ittle Dew.

Thanks everyone for your response discussion on this. I have enjoyed Terraria, Minecraft (to an extent), Forest Running Simulator 2013 and FTL (a lot), so Don't Starve sounds right up my alley. It'd be my last foray into gaming before I got back to teaching after labor day :whistle2:|

Tages is the killing point for any deal for me. I've been pretty patiently waiting for Anno 2070 to ditch it and rely solely on Steam. I will continue to wait.

That Be Mine 9 is looking pretty good. I see several in there that I don't have and would really like to have. An oddly rare combination.

 
Should I buy the bundlestars #10 bundle just for galaxy on fire 2 & disciples 3? Also didn't have the other "flying" game and afterfall, but don't know about them. Also could gift cargo commander & kung fu to one of my kids, he may like those

Huh. I was collecting my GREED key from the build a Meridian4 Bundle and didn't know they posted new info on Be Mine 9. Thanks for the heads up guys. A few of those featured look pretty good actually.

I still might get some of "The Flying Most-Obscure-Games-You-Didn't-Even-Know-Were-On-Steam Bundle" games. That's kind of a mouthful but I like it.

Or for short, The Flying MOGYDEKWOS Bundle. ;)

MysterD Client will be great. It won't be 100% DRM, though.

Dev's/pub's can opt to have it use NO DRM at any time, if they like. That's their call.

The MDC (MysterD Client) won't be forced to run in background at all times, as well - especially for SP portions and LAN portions of games. It's optional, in those instances.

Only DRM allowed on a game sold on my client is account-based MysterD Client DRM.

No 3rd-party DRM BS allowed (Tages, Securom, any sort of Homebrew DRM, Goo DRM, StarForce, etc).

If dev's/pub's opt to use MDC DRM -- DRM-check for (at least) SP portions and LAN portions will be removed when the game has hit any or all of these conditions: game hits 75% off or better in a sale; game will receive no more official patches; and/or game receives no more official DLC's.

MysterD is still discussing w/ himself and his multiple personalities on how MP will be dealt w/ for DRM w/ the MDC. ;)

Galaxy on Fire is an utterly horrible and generic shovelware port from iOS or Android or whatever phone/tablet app it was on. Even Dark Star One is a better game.
