You can install his game on your PC, yes. But only if you use his account on your PC. Just remember to log off his account on your PC when he is ready to install Torchlight under his account on his PC (I'm assuming you guys are using separate PC's).
Like most I would have to say that there are many older, perhaps lesser known titles that I would like to see on Steam. GoG is a great website but I feel that they charge too much for many of the titles they have available.

Also, (please don't bite my head off) I'm not sure how titles that are Games for Windows Live work with Steam. For example, if I buy Dawn of War II on Steam would I still be able to link it to my Live account?
I don't think anyone answered your question. Yes, if you get Dawn of War II on Steam, it integrates with Games for Windows Live and the achievements, etc. are tied your Live ID/Gamertag.

I just did it myself.

1) What one Steam purchase you made during this sale are you the most pleased with? Why?
Won't know until I play them, but happy that the Lucasarts Adventure Pack & Eidos Pack got great prices.

2) What one Steam purchase from this sale are you least pleased with? Why?

Shattered Horizon - Though I'm pleased with the purchase, I wish they would release a single-player update instead of using it in 'future titles'.

3) Are there any daily deals you regret not purchasing?

Armored Princess (didn't know there was no domestic retail version), Burnout Paradise (self-control won out)

4) How much did you spend on this sale? (Estimates are fine.)

Don't get so pumped for the final day's deals (if they follow the same format).

6) What game would you most like to see on Steam?
Most of my wishlist consists of classic games better suited for a GOG release with great extras and support...so, I'd like to see more $2 blowouts.

7) What would you pay for it?
N/A, $2

8) Does this guy work for Steam, or what?
No. When you work for someone, theypay you.

9) Where's his hair?

Under the sofa cushions.

RIP, Steam Holiday 2009
Me too!! I'm honestly really disappointed! Literally no one cares except us. Frankly, it seems like it's pretty amazing that you even got me to care from the lack of interest everyone else is showing. :) Maybe we need to check out a Civ IV thread. Maybe there's a Civ IV thread on CAG here?

I still haven't even gone through the tutorial, but I totally want in on PitBoss.

Actually, Disciples II is on here. Did you already know? I bought it and also the GoG version cause the freaking Steam version is flaky with Windows 7. Boo.

___________

Should we put a link to the holiday thread in the top post? I don't know if it's necessary or useful really but sometimes it's done.

I was totally eager for more deals when I woke up this morning. Then I remembered it was over. :) I've spent a truly frightful amount of money, however, so I'm content to wait for weekend/mid-week deals (that I will probably not be interested in). I wanna be thrifty for a while now.
Only reason im not up for a a pitboss game is half because im always terrified of playing online with others and being horrible and second because my PC has so little space on the HD at the moment. If I order a new PC in the next week or so ill have a new awesome 1 tb drive though which will give me plenty of space! Ill get past my fears and just play a game with you guys if your still up for it.

so I have bought torchlite for my bro and he claims he cant get it to install.. can I install it and then tell him how to do it? I havent been on steam in ages. since like 2005 or so.

I had a similar problem. Tell him to make sure the game is completely uninstalled, then switch the server he has set for his steam downloads and then redownload and reinstall.
:p

Anyway, I'm kind of surprised that no one was interested in doing a PitBoss game of Civ4, with a ton of people picking it up I thought we'd get a game going, but oh well.
I'll play. How many people do we need?

so glad I picked up trine on the daily deal. Had played it briefly before via a torrent and I didn't care too much for it.. maybe b/c i wanted to run it at max res on my old laptop and it wasn't smooth. Now I have a gaming laptop, it runs spectacular =)

It's gonna be awhile till we get a game going, lots of options and stuff that we'd need to figure out and I'd have to get one of my spare clunkers kitbashed back into operation. If we had a ton of interest, it'd probably be about a week before we started.
I'll play. How many people do we need?
Awesome!

A small game would be 6-8 players, a midsized game like 9-12 and a large game 13-16. If we could get a full 16 person game going, that would be pretty killer.

So SOURCE MODS? Which are recommended? I saw Zombie Panic... wishing I woulda gotten Half Life 2 to be able to use some of the HL2 mods.
So SOURCE MODS? Which are recommended? I saw Zombie Panic... wishing I woulda gotten Half Life 2 to be able to use some of the HL2 mods.
Dystopia and NeoTokyo. Both very good heavily team oriented shooters.

Man I am absolutely loving Borderlands. I only have 2 big complaints 1. The bosses are ROUGH! Seriously a lot of quests will say average or Trivial difficulty for your level then next thing you know your up against a boss thats your level or higher and with a crazy huge life bar! 2. Level 50 is the highest level and im already level 25....yes they said they were going to raise the level cap....but through DLC. So it may take them several months to get to that and even then we will be forced to pay $10 for it!

Also really loving Nation Red and shocked by the difficulty turn as time went on. Still game is a blast and I can see it being a game I turn to for quick 10 minute spurts for years to come.
I knew about 2 but the games story is very compelling and you need to play one to get the full effect that part 2 is offering.

Also the game mechanic is different and I would love to play some people online in both 1, II and the Eleven expansion.

At this time I only have one other person that plays that game online against me but I believe with the STEAM or says Xfire lobby support it would get a new player base...especially for those that like to play Risk.

I have 7 points from Prize Rebel, whats the best 7 dollar or under Steam Game? I am leaning Overlord at the moment...

Bought these games during the sale:
Left 4 Dead 2 4-Pack (With okron1k, Domuki & atomgrill)

1) What one Steam purchase you made during this sale are you the most pleased with? Why?

2) What one Steam purchase from this sale are you least pleased with? Why?
None
3) Are there any daily deals you regret not purchasing?

4) How much did you spend on this sale? (Estimates are fine.)

5) What will you do differently next year?

6) What game would you most like to see on Steam?

7) What would you pay for it?
awesome to see the steam community making use of the group. saw a Killing Floor game was started earlier. more events!
I saw that event earlier too, I'm a big fan. I might not be able to join that many of them, but I do appreciate that broadcast feature.
awesome to see the steam community making use of the group. saw a Killing Floor game was started earlier. more events!
That was me  Unfortunately, my KF crashed about 3 minutes after that little event pop-up popped up. I noticed on the group history page that the event was deleted almost right after I confirmed it. Was I not allowed to make one, or was the deletion automated?

Graaaah really need to get on that new PC so I can install all these new steam games. I want to try more out but I just dont have the space on this old PC at the moment!

Spent way too much time lurking on the Steam holiday sale thread. Here goes:

1) What one Steam purchase you made during this sale are you the most pleased with? Why?

So far it's Torchlight, but that could change in a few months. Honorable mention to Left 4 Dead. Picked it up a couple weeks prior, but I didn't play it until gifting a copy.

2) What one Steam purchase from this sale are you least pleased with? Why?

None. When your impulse buys are BioShock and Mass Effect...

3) Are there any daily deals you regret not purchasing?

No, not really. Prey almost doesn't count because I would have purchased it if the CD keys hadn't run out.

4) How much did you spend on this sale? (Estimates are fine.)

$50, but I easily could have doubled this.

5) What will you do differently next year?

Spend less time on CAG and more time gaming. Ok, screw it - I'll probably read every post again.

6) What game would you most like to see on Steam?

Caesar II, III, or IV

7) What would you pay for it?

$2, $3.50, and $5, respectively.

8) Does this guy work for Steam, or what?

These aren't the Steam games you're looking for?

9) Where's his hair?

King's Bounty blew his mind, literally.

I've yet to play a game I regret buying thus far, I guess I didn't go too crazy and had a bit of self control. Still haven't gone through them all yet though.

I just played Trine and that was pretty cool. Nation Red was fun for the round I played. I need to try out Defense Grid, Zombie Bowling, and Torchlight.

1) What one Steam purchase you made during this sale are you the most pleased with? Why?

Well, I only purchased one game, so Killing Floor.

2) What one Steam purchase from this sale are you least pleased with? Why?

None.

3) Are there any daily deals you regret not purchasing?

Daily deals? Not really. Wish I would have had the money to get The Chronicles of Riddick and Titan Quest on sale though.

4) How much did you spend on this sale? (Estimates are fine.)

$5

5) What will you do differently next year?

Remember to save up some money for the sale.

6) What game would you most like to see on Steam?

Starcraft, and the rest of the blizzard catalog. But I know that will never happen.

7) What would you pay for it?

$10.

8) Does this guy work for Steam, or what?

I don't know. I'm confused.

9) Where's his hair?

On vacation somewhere warm.

I'm loving Defense Grid and Torchlight; it's way too easy killing time on those games.

I bought Mass Effect, but I can't get it to work for the life of me. I'm bummed about that one. I have a Dell inspiron Laptop, Vista 64 with the GHM 4500 chipset video which is not seeming to like Mass Effect. Tried using admin and other tricks, none worked.

Still downloading L4D2. I REALLY pray that one works. (have a few others Dling too, STALKER, Star Wars KOTR and company of Heroes)

L4D1 works fine on it. So far, L4d, Witcher, Luxor 3 and Bioshock all work well.

*crosses fingers*

Does anyone have an extra copy of Plants vs. Zombies?

I have an extra copy of Half Life 2 (useless, I'm sure you already have it, lol) or I am willing to PayPal you $5-6. PM me!
Hmmm, how much would you want for HL2? I don't have PvZ unfortunately.
Keep these trade/selling inquiries to PMs or the trade forum... http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=21
It's generally frowned upon to post these type of things in a thread.

Otherwise, LFG or LFM in a four pack in these threads is reasonable, but since the sales are over, I wouldn't expect too much of it.
Otherwise, LFG or LFM in a four pack in these threads is reasonable, but since the sales are over, I wouldn't expect too much of it.
Which reminds me, I'm not willing to commit at the moment but maybe closer to release, how do you guys feel about Global Agenda?

For everyone that bought Shattered Horizon. Can you get into the 3 servers with the most players. I see 3 servers with over 20 players, but am unable to join them. Can't really tell if they are locked or something.

And for another Shattered Horizon thing. I think we should get a group together and play it sometime. I know enough CAGs bought the game (with the pages of 4 pack offerings when the game got discounted).

If you cant start it run both mass effect & steam as admin. however that makes steam behave kinda odd imo. So what I did was, go to the mass effect steam folder and find: MassEffectLauncher.exe and run only that one as admin. you can make a shortcut of it on your desktop. It works for me on Windows 6 Pro x64.
I don't know if the Intel 4500 integrated graphics will even want to run ME..?
Would a Google search for "mass effect intel 4500" turn up anything? Either doom or a workaround...
Which reminds me, I'm not willing to commit at the moment but maybe closer to release, how do you guys feel about Global Agenda?
I think it sounds super cool in theory.... I love games where players kind of work in groups and affect each other and the world. My least favorite thing about WoW is how static the world feels. Maybe GA won't fix that, I dunno.

I'm super hesitant to subscribe to more than one MMO, however; I already feel guilty enough that I haven't played WoW in a week or more (the Steam sale is partially to blame), and I don't want to quit WoW. I like playing it casually.

But if GA is awesome...? Sometimes I think about trying EVE On-line. Seems neat.
Does anyone have an extra copy of Plants vs. Zombies?
I've got the demo and am finding it strangely compelling, tho I think it might get frustrating and frantic not too far in. Hey, just like Warcraft 2, the game that made me swear off RTS. :)
I swear the PC discussion forum was almost dead until the Steam sale.

CAG's = Steam
Yeah, this thread is kickin', too!
I knew about 2 but the games story is very compelling and you need to play one to get the full effect that part 2 is offering.
That really makes me wanna get Disciples I off GoG and play it!
Also really loving Nation Red and shocked by the difficulty turn as time went on. Still game is a blast and I can see it being a game I turn to for quick 10 minute spurts for years to come.
I tried the demo, and my enjoyment level went from top-notch to middle to... ehh.. I'd rather play something else and spend my money elsewhere... in like 5 minutes. :) Oh well. But it does have that difficulty slider, you know, if you ever get stuck... Tab to get it, I think?
Only reason im not up for a a pitboss game is half because im always terrified of playing online with others and being horrible ...
I feel you there, my friend. When someone mentions Shattered Horizons CAG games, all I can think is ugh, I would suck horribly. Someone mentioned Disciples multi-player and I thought the same. I even play WoW pretty much alone. I've been forced into groups and am kind of getting the hang of it (or was a week ago when I last played!), even sort of enjoy it, but it's always a bit frantic and frightening for me.

PitBoss, on the other hand... I'll have all day long to complete my turn, so I figure at least I won't totally look like a moron... :) I also plan to run the tutorial, read the manual, and play a few games to practice up. And if I suck, well, it's not too big a deal... :) You should totally play with us if you can. Delete some stuff and install Civ IV. :) It a gig of porn you can live without, right? :p
That really makes me wanna get Disciples I off GoG and play it!
Disciples was one of those games that really shocked me at the power of small time developers. I picked up from Staples because I had a gift certificate and I did not need anything really and it had an expiration date :bomb:

The game is great. Storyline, music, atmosphere...the online was lacking but if you had a friend into it...it was good.

I am eagerly awaiting part 3.

I was a fool to not pick it up when it first came out. I would have loved it, but it didn't get the media hype necessary to get my attention (wouldn't have taken much, but it was pretty ignored). By the time Disciples II came out, my computer (I think a Pentium 233 at the time?) just couldn't handle it. I played the demo and loved it, but I had to listen to the game shredding my HDD. :) Or maybe my HDD was failing at that point and that caused the game to run poorly.

Either way, it's not until now that I've gotten into the Disciples games, and so far, I think they're the best of the whole genre--better than HoMM, even better than Age of Wonders.

Unfortunately, reports from Russia are that Disciples III is a buggy mess. :( Hopefully once the bugs are fixed, we'll get something at least as great as D2. If not, it's a damn shame.

I'm going to go buy D1. Shoulda gotten it when it was on sale!

Edit: $10 on GoG... I'm going to wait a little while... til it's either on sale again or I simply cannot live without it. Got so much to play already and spent so much recently! I won't play D2 until after I can get and play D1 tho.

Anyone want a guest pass for killing floor? I have two.

Also I have one for Counter Strike Source.

I have a copy of Mass Effect from the EA sale that I'm selling... $5

I bought the one from steam because I prefer to have all of the games in the same place and I don't need this extra copy I have.

ohhh.... and anyone have an extra gift copy of Team Fortress 2 ? I now decided I want it and I don't want to pay $20 for it. :(

Let me know how much ? or trade for mass effect.

Kenrik, triple posting is frowned down upon. It's much better to just edit the first post than to make two more posts. Keeps the thread a little cleaner.

Also, as mentioned above, it would be better to keep Trade/Selling inquiries to the Trade forums and/or PM's.
Does anyone else here own Defcon? It's been awhile since I've played a good game of Defcon.
I own Defcon (it won't show up in my steam games list since I bought it retail). I'd love to play a game sometime even though I suck at it. You should try to arrange something through the CAG Steam group.

I'll post my haul from the sale later this evening after work.

I might take you up on that KF guest pass - do they have to be used right away, or can I hold onto it for a bit?

Outrun 2006 is no longer on Steam. WTF? I looked it up to see what the price went to after the holiday sale, and it isn't there anymore. I guess I can still install it anytime I want since I bought it already, but WTF? Nobody can buy it again? Has this ever happened before on Steam?
