Original Target Clearance Thread

Since the Target deals are usually of the "your mileage may vary" type, let's keep all the target clearance deals in this thread.

Here is a fairly easy way to check if your local Target has the games on clearance without making the store clerk unlock the display case and price-scan a bunch of games. Very often, games may be on sale, but will not be marked as such.

BigDirty came up with this nice time saver. Respect his cheap ass skills.

1) Check this thread for games that have been reported on clearance.

2) Go to www.half.com, http://bits.com/ or similar website and search for the game to locate its UPC code number. Its in the grey box underneath the box art graphic.

3) Go to http://upcdata.info/ , www.milk.com/barcode/ , or www.upcdatabase.com and enter the code so you can print out the UPC.

4) Go to Target and use the price scanners to scan your printouts and search for cheap ass deals!

FYI: "When a game's price ends with 8 cents, further reduction is possible, when it ends in 4 cents, that's the ball game, pick it up cause it's not going any lower. If it ends in 9 cents, it's just on sale or on a non-clearance reduction." - BigDirty

Games that do not sell after being discounted are often donated to local Goodwills for sale at their retail stores, so check there when the clearance items dissappear.

This thread is for Clearance deals, not sale items or raincheck "scams"
Please Post City, State and Store (If City has many stores), game, system and price

Keep extraneous discussion to a minimum, as posts not pretating to clearance deals may be deleted by the mod crew.

As always-- YMMV

Example:

Philadelphia, PA Snyder Plaza
BigDirty's Wild Ride, XBox, $4.98

*Thanks to CheapyD and BigDirty for the info*

Keep it on topic or your post may be deleted to prune down the thread size.
Damnit!! I went to my local Target on Thursday night and they had about 10 copies of Viewtiful Joe DS for $4.xx, but didn't buy it...today I bought it along with other stuff and I just noticed that I paid $14.99:bomb: for it...fuck! I'll return it tomorrow...
Ah, further proof. This is unusual for Target, but I guess it does happen. With the new shipment of "value priced" games they raised the price on this one (though it is a discount from the original price of $19.99). I guess, eventually, these will go on clearance and we'll be able to get them for $3.74 at 75% off ;).

Two Targets today in a failed attempt to score a friend a cheap copy of City of Heroes. I did notice a few things that might be of interest...

Ann Arbor, MI
-About ten copies of Sid Meier's Pirates! for $13.98 each. I bought one because I've been interested in the game for a while and didn't want it to vanish, but I see this one dropping again.
-A big stack of the crap jewel case games for $2.48 each. Very little of interest, but I think I saw a copy of Sanitarium bundled with another title in the stack, and I recall hearing it was a decent adventure game.

Ypsi, MI
-Warcraft III: Frozen Throne for $10. Does anyone care?
-The GameCube Dragon Ball Z: Budokai, for the stunningly low $3.7x. I have no interest in the game, but someone's going to be thrilled when they find it.

I miss the days of amazing Target clearances. It seems like we've had a dry spell for much too long. :whistle2:(

Anyone want the RWG enough to have it shipped out? Last I saw it at mine, it was at $24.xx, but I'll be back that way sometime soon if someone wants me to check.

This reminds me of a deal I got a few weeks ago. I had forgotten about:

Sid Meier's Pirates (XBOX) - $9.98

I picked up these last copies at my local Target , sorry if has been mentioned already:
Sonic Gems Collection $4.98
Donkey Konga 2 $4.98

I finally got Sonic Gems Collection and glad I didn't pay full price for it! I'm going to try out Donkey Konga tonight, hopefully it doesn't get boring right away like so many here have said.

Sanitarium is a great adventure game and well worth it. I will buy a copy form anyone looking to sell one or pick an extra up. There are a few family members I can give them to as gifts.

I am guessing it was bundled with Divine Divinity? I think thats what I saw with it before it disappeared around here.

Personally, I think DK2 is a great game, made much more fun by grabbing a second bongo controller (cheap everywhere it seems these days) and a friend. My girlfriend and I play it regularly.
I saw a bunch of these (Viewtiful Joe Double Trouble for the DS, that is, just to be clear) in the case at my local Target that weren't there a few days ago. I had the guy get one out - it scanned $14.99! WTF? That's not clearancy at all. I'm guessing that the ones people see clearanced out are the endcap copies that were around for Christmas. Now they have gotten "new" copies, and are selling them for $14.99 from now on. I would suspect that most people will start seeing this price sooner or later. I don't believe they had new UPC stickers or anything either - that's just what they are when the new shipment comes in. Since this store never had them to clearance there was never a conflict.
In my store they were all clearanced for $4.98, so I bought a few to trade on CAG. Next day I go in, the MMB specialist told me that they were all brought up to $14.99, not sure why though.

Target has done that in the past with a game on clearance and then taked off clearance. I think Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance for PS2 was an example of this. Another example is the Gray Dual Shock 2's, there were $6.24 then rasied back to full price. Both those cases like VJ DS weren't re-stocks either.

Went to Target today and all they had in the clearance section was 2 copies of Rise of Kasai for PS2 for $7.4x. Bleh.

found a few deals today...

PS3 vertical glow stand - $6.48
PS3 charge cable (9 FEET!) - $3.74 :D
Dark Messiah (PC) - $12.48 (hopefully this drops again soon so i can get 1 cheaper)
City of Villans (PC) - $4.98
NASCAR 06: Total Team Control (XBOX) - $7.48

I should clarify, then - I saw the PC version on clearance.

Unfortunately, my laptop's lack of a number pad is making playing the game near impossible. I think I'm going to have to order a USB number pad, which is something I'd been considering for a while but which I'd rather not pay for. :whistle2:?
my Target finally lowered Real World Golf [PS2] to $12.48, I bought one extra if anyone wants to buy/trade for it send me a PM.
You PM box is full!! Ok, I'll bite. Do you have a wantlist? I have plenty of trade fodder.

ok, I cleaned it up. :)

Careful, they usually never go lower than 75%, and since this was a 49.99 game to start, 12 should be 75% off.

I would maybe buy a copy at 12. then if it DOES drop again, return, and rebuy.

Peace.

Well, like I said, VJ DS was an obvious restock at my Target as they never had it when on clearance and then all of a sudden the other day they had a boatload of them at $14.99. I just figured they bought more and sent them to all stores as a "value" game and reset the price. I guess they took the leftover ones off clearance though, were there any to be found.

I bought the only copy of VJ that my Target had left on clearance for $4.98. A couple days later I went back and nabbed Advance Wars DS for $4.98 and noticed another copy of VJ that didn't have the red sticker. I scanned it out of curiosity (per io's post earlier saying it scanned $14.99 now) and sure enough it was scanning $14.99. I know my store got a shipment of "value" games because they set up an endcap in front of the registers with $14.99 and $19.99 titles.

Thanks Gothic_Walrus, i stopped by the Ypsi target and picked up a copy of DBZ Budaki for gamecube, there were still 3-4 copies left for 3.74 if anyones interested.

I stopped by the Target near my work today. Their clearance section didn't have much, but I did pick up a Gunpey DS for $7.48 if anyone's been looking for it. I figured I'd snag it, offer it up as trade fodder and take it back if no one nibbles to see if it drops to the $3.74 level.

Other than that, there were some Warcraft Frozen Thrones for $12.xx and some of that random PC game crap.

On a side note, our "Global Connection" section is 75 percent off right now. There's some great deals there, depending on how picked over your Target is and whether they even had it to begin with.

Saw Metroid Prime 2 for $4.98, but passed.

Pirates for the PC was $19.99.

Did pick up Freelancer for the PC (jewel case) for $10. Not clearance, but cheaper than third-party sellers on amazon. I was a huge fan of Privateer, and while I know this is terrible in comparison it will actually run on my PC - something to play while the homebrew boys work out the kinks in the fan remakes of the original game.

If anyone can buy me an Xbox Live kit, I'd love to buy it. Microsoft screwed me over on a sub card, so I'm looking for a good deal. Thanks for anyone who can help out.

Use DosBox. Privateer DOS runs PERFECTLY.

I found two clearance items in the assemble-it-yourself furniture section at my nearest Super Target. However, I can't find any reference to these items anywhere online - I might have to go back and jot down some more information as to who makes them if anyone is interested.

Xbox 360 Pylon - It's a sort of tower that houses the 360 near the bottom in a vertical configuration. It has 4 controller brackets going up the center from there, and holds games horizontally along both sides. The clearance price was just shy of $50, and I think it was at 30% off.

Xbox 360 TV Stand - It's a rectangle with rounded corners and shelves. The shelves are supposedly properly spaced to handle the console and games/accessories. It is large enough to handle a decent sized flat panel on top, according to the picture on the box. The price was in the $70 neighborhood if I remember correctly.

I personally don't have a use for these, but they look neat (especially the Pylon). They are officially licensed 360 accessories, and color coordinate as such. The boxes are fairly large, but would probably fit in a standard shopping cart.

I never saw these at the regular price, so I don't know where they came from or if they are readily available in other stores.

I hit up 2 of the 3 Targets near me today. One had nothing video game related and the other had 2 of those Zelda Wii backpacks for $9.98 each. No games or Xbox Live kits.

I just picked up two of the tony hawk bundles for 22.48 at a goodwill in austin

Picked up Need For Speed Underground 2 for the cube (PC) for $4.98 and True Crime NY (Thought it was BC...) for the xbox $4.98. They also had an xbox dead to rights 2 for ~$12. Man...does anyone want to trade or buy True Crime NY....I hate non-BC games.

Dude I so want one of those Zelda sling bags. If they still have one next time you're there could you pick me one up? For cost / ship / + a few bucks extra, or perhaps trade?

EDIT: Well chitown021 tried but they were sold out when he went back so I'm still looking for one of these.

I hit up four Targets here in Chicago and none of them had ANYTHING. Two I went to had some of the games (like VJ for DS). There was no sticker, but when I scanned it it came up 14.99, and when I asked for them to scan it at the register it came out the same price. There was a lot of games out of the cases and I was scanning them but all of them were like 14.99 (Jak 2, Sly, Sonic Gems, Black, for example). What's the deal?? At one Target (one place with clearanced stickered games) I picked up THUG2, they also had MP 2 and BK, but nothing else.

The stuff I was looking for like Killzone, GRAW for PS2, etc was nowhere to be found.

There was a lot of stuff I saw out there I wanted to pick up (Bomberman, Lunar Story, Ratchets, Black, Gran Turismo, Fight Night, some GC games). When are these going to be clearenced?

I think last week Target got in a new shipment of game "ON SALE" but not clearance prices. I noticed last Sunday that my Target was setting up a videogame display on an endcap of one of the registers. When I wnet back on Tuesday it was full of titles priced $14.99 (Viewtiful Joe was one of them) and $19.99 (I remember seeing Lunar for the DS). About two weeks ago I had snagged Viewtiful Joe for $4.98 in the clearance section.

I have found a way to search the availability of any item in Target's inventory (including clearance items! found out there is no Live Gold kits in my area  )

Search for your item at Amazon.com
Scroll down and find the ASIN number

Plug in your zip code where the Xs are:
Plug in the ASIN number at the end of this web address where the Zs are:

http://crayz.org/target_wii.php?zip=XXXXX&asin=ZZZZZ

The website's interface is set up for the Wii, but by changing the ASIN you are able to search for any item.

Hopefully this info can help some of you, and maybe it could be added to the OP.

Thats awesome info! thanks so much now I can search and see if the Targets have them without wasting gas. I bookmarked the address and just copy and paste different asin numbers to the end of it. Works great! Thanks again zewone!

^^^ Thanks, man. It is showing "Limited Availability" for the gold kit at 1 of the 10 Targets near me. But that is one where I scanned the UPC a few weeks back and it said it was there but when the guy checked with his hand scanner he said OOS. So that's a bit strange.

Wiis, on the other hand, seem to be at every Target except the very closest one.

I was at Target the other day and they were completely devoid of any clearance games. They must have dumped them all. I was, however, able to return/repurchase my Xbox Live Gold kit and get another $15 back. This is on top of the $12 I got back for it a few weeks ago. So I took it from $42 to $15 in two different return/repurchases. Sweet. I'm definitely glad I picked it up at $42 as it would have been gone if I tried to wait it out.

I have a question about that inventory checker, is there a difference between "Out of Stock" & "Not Avaliable"?

I noticed one store always says Not Avaliable while most others say OOS, but every once in a while another store will be listed for Not Avaliable as well.

Anyway, so far the Denver area Targets are all cleaned out of anything I would've wanted...Target is a rough one, my best scores are always games that didn't get the original clearence price tag and I pick them up on the 2nd or 3rd round of drops. I got a $2.74 Road Rash Jailbreak the other day :)

^^^Don't forget that this is information will be going off their computer inventory. If the item you're looking for was stolen, damaged out improperly, or just shipped to the wrong location, this information could be incorrect. However, it's a great way to get a feel for what's in stock.

I dunno about that site - at least for "hotter" items that sell out quickly. I wonder how often it gets updated? It says Wiis are available in just about every Target in the country (from my random check of several "previous" searches people did), and that seems hard to believe...
(Now if only I knew what a ASIN was...)
ASIN is like a UPC code that you can use in the Target price scanners that have number inputs on them. You punch in the ASIN number, it'll tell you the price of the item without having to have a copy of the item to be scanned.

I picked up the new Pro Evolution 2007 for the 360 for $12.48 at the East Madison Target in Madison, WI tonight. I was pretty surprised by that, seeing as how the game is less than a month old.

Score one for me.
