The WB and UPN merged?

yep it was announced months ago... something called the CW...

Surprisingly 7th heaven has beened saved via a reserrection and going to be one of the shows on this new network. Expect heavy amount of product placement/adversitments within that show as it will be used to off set the cost of the show :O ...soon its going to earn the nick name, product heaven hehe.

I wonder if Enterprise wasn't cancelled, how it would translate to CW?
I wonder if the cable company will add a new channel or simply show the same thing on the WB and UPN channels now?
I read on wikipedia that most cable companies will put the CW on stations that are owned or affiliated with the new network. In cases like they have here, a Fox affiliate owns the WB station, which they are going to change to My Network TV

here in the NOVA area, the old UPN 20 is now MY 20....awhile back it was its old pre upn call sign WDCA-20...now its MY 20??!?!? Guess the WB channel 33 (for what reason COX took out the basic tv guild channel from its basic cable selection is beyond me) will host the CW.

Bizarre that ch. 3 is just static with Cox, huh? Seeing as how many people leave their TV on 3 24/7 (for a VCR, etc.) seems like they'd slap their lame Cox Channel in that slot at least.

Its too bad Cox won't give up its control in my area or else Verizon (for cable and DSL or Fiber Optics, which my good friend in Herdon has) would be my primary choice for cable. fuckers are constaintly degrading the signal quality so it convinces everyone to sign up with High Def and faster cable speeds.. I hate monopolies. Not everyone can afford High Def tv's and its service :(

Seriously?

I remember reading the show was ending because production costs were sky high, and commercials were making it sound like the series was coming to a close.

I had an ex who watched that show all the time, and they ran out of ideas about two years ago.

Apparently enough complaining and bitching brings a show back and leaves another show (Everwood) in the dust to be cancelled.

you know enterprise had the same thing. Fans even offered to pay for the 5th season. Surprisingly only a few hundred fans showed up at paramount to voice there opinions...and yet there are tens of thosands of trekies out there? It would have been nice for Sci Fi to pick up the show as it should have belong there in the first place.

As for 7th heaven, yep it was coming to a close but the ending wasn't satifying. It had too many opened doors and i had the feeling that we were going to get a 2 hr movie, a spin off (that would have been good for me and the show) or another season.... now we get another season....

some network has got to get the balls to make this show last for 20 years so it competes with that crap of a show called the simpsons.

No. Just like any of your other local NBC, ABC, etc affiliates, most telvision markets had a UPN and WB network affiliated station. One of these two was awarded the network rights in each market, so that would be the station that would be airing the CW network.

The cable companies have absolutely zero control as to what stations the CW will be broadcasting on.

That MY Network TV station you mentioned is the new FOX startup network coming up soon.

It wasn't the complaining that got it back. It was the high ratings the series finale got. Too bad the CW execs are too dumb too realize that people only tuned in because it was the series finale. Everwood may be a mid season replacement I've heard though.

I hope so, its a pretty good show. And if ratings are an indication, I think the "series" finale will just be another season finale in guise.

Hmmm, I don't even know what affiliate has the rights here. The WB is channel 16 on Time Warner here, and UPN isn't technically its own channel, it is shown most of the time on Channel 18, WBGT (Big TV). I would assume they'll just put the new channel on 16 and 18 will go back to being primarily independent and local content.

The only thing I watch on UPN is Smackdown occasionally, and I already know that will carry over to the new network. 7th Heaven is really a pointless show, nothing ever happens on it. Lots of girls watch it, including my gf but I don't see why because every episode seems to follow the same formula.

Yeah, my UPN station uses a "TV" logo instead of "UPN". Not that I actually care because I hardly watch TV. On the bright side, they're still showing saved by the bell right now..
Veronica Mars disagrees.
As well as, Supernatural (I liked it) and Everybody Hates Chris (didn't get a chance to watch it, but it got a lot of praise).

If anything, UPN and BET are racist for portraying all african americans the way that they do.

Considering that african-americans are a big segment of the viewing totals of those shows, I think they would disagree.

BET is a real disappointment for me. Most of the programming is shit. That's why the satire of BET in The Boondocks is so accurate. I mean, how can you show BET Uncut with ass everywhere and then the next program is a gospel program. Bring back Donnie Simpson dammit! At the very least, tone done the image heavy music. The problem with BET is that is gives the impression the black people can only be definied by hip-hop and bling. I know that brings the viewers but they do a disservice to the black community IMO.

The WB and UPN wasn't quite as bad but most of the shows sucked. Other than the Steve Harvey Show, I wasn't really entertained by any of them. The ladies on Girlfriends are nice to look at though. Oh, and the ONLY reason I watched the Parkers was for Jenna Von Oy. Damn. :booty:

Lol, I never said it was good, but I don't think it's racist in any way. It's not like the WB and UPN were the ones actually producing the shows. They just made the decision to air them.

I don't think BET is racist. But I wish more people in the black community (entertainers mainly) would speak up about the stereotypes they reinforce. You'd be surprised at how many black people find BET to be terrible. The only thing that keeps BET going is the young demographic (much of it white) that continues to eat up the music.
Racist.
Actually, Kayden has a point... a very very very large majority of UPN's original shows are black comedies, but they aren't smart black comedies, they are stereotypical garbage that are dead last on the ratings chart, so I don't even think the intended audience is watching them.

It's why shows like Veronica Mars gets buried, because most of the time UPN is showing garbage so no one even bothers to watch it. I sincerely hope they scrap 95% of their catalog.
The problem with BET is that is gives the impression the black people can only be definied by hip-hop and bling.
Of course thats a total fallacy. As everyone knows, black people are defined by blunts, bitches, 40's, watermellon and fried chicken. Hip-hop and bling are just suburbanite constructs so white kids can act black.

you know i never, ever could get that joke about blacks and fried chicken...whats that about??? Anyways, think about all the black people on 7th Heaven and smallville... some of them had great character plots then poof they were gone. Like Matt's friend/roommate in 7th heaven or Clarks friend in high school. After a few seasons, poof, gone.. Although 7th heaven gave a chance to people with disabilities (that deaf chick) to act, Smallville just made them vanish in the last meteor shower :O

Fatty! ;)

And yeah.... I do agree that networks like BET do make colored people come across as... well........ ghetto.

Just more of me to love baby.
