I just love being sick. Big fuck you to whoever gave me this cold.

Had to go to church today to see my little sisters get baptized. I kept expecting to catch fire or be struck by divine lightning, but somehow I made it out alive.
I thought you sang in the church choir?
School choir. The select one, not the one that kids join so they can have a blow of hour. We used to be one of the best in the state, but our director let some tone deaf fuckwads in this year and we kinda suck now because of them.
Hey DarthPuma, what have you done that would make a deity smite you?
The Christian God seems to get pretty pissy when you don't believe in him.

I love that "Customer Service Not Responding" thread in the Feedback forum because it shows how little Cheapy cares about the community.

I wonder what that dude would think if he knew "customer service" was a bald dude in Japan whose job is CAG and who can't take any time out of his busy schedule to resolve a problem.

Who can spend 10 grand on an hour of sitting in the same room as Howard Stern but can't afford to let people use their Play Asia affiliate links because CAG "puts food on (his) table."

State fair was fun. I ate 12 pieces of maple candy, a slice of pizza, chocolate covered banana, pulled pork sandwich, $5 brownie and I drank home made root beer and a wine slushie.

Hey man, I did pretty good. I stayed away from the deep fried oreos, candy bars and twinkies. They also had deepfried cheese cake which I hear is a guaranteed heart attack.

I am not a big fan of Tarentino. I always thought that he was highly overrated. But I must admit, Inglorious Basterds is a great, great movie.

Death Proof was a good movie and I liked it but you could tell he was experiementing and at times it did suck. But the Bastards is clearly, clearly, exceptionally directed. It should be studied in a filmaking class. As a whole, it's okay. But there are scenes in that film, framing of certain shots, that's equal to some of the great shots and scenes in film history.

It's not going to be his head that explodes.
"Inglorious (sic) Basterds is a great, great movie."

"As a whole, it's okay."
Well, it's both true. The whole chapter break up of the movie I don't like personally. And Maybe that's a personal preference. But there are individual scenes in that film that are just fantastic. I mean, stuff that should be studied. And the red dress shot at the window is a classic, classic shot.

One problem with Tarentino is that he lacks self control. You see that in his personality and it comes out in his films. And that lack of self control hurts the movie. it could be thirty minutes shorter and better put together. Which i think is the just okay part. but at several of the individual portions... the farmhouse, the resteraunt with Gobbels, The pre-movie reception, are just fantastic.

And you can see the other filmakers in the shots too. Not just, the genre stick but some of the great directors. When the German Security Agent surveys the room and then walks down the stairs, that's pure Hitchcock. But then Terentino puts his own personal twist on the scene to come up with something totally original and unexpected. And there are pieces like that throughout the entire film that are increadible.

You should all go see it if you haven't.

I stopped reading after the first sentence. If you really think those two statements can be simultaneously true, nothing else you say is worth reading.

Then you're obviously intellectually limited.

Saying that the movie is great implies that you're considering the movie as a whole. "Inglourious Basterds is great" means that Inglourious Basterds, the movie, as it was meant to be viewed, is great. Not 30% of it.

Just take a goddamn stance on the movie. Either you thought it was really fucking great or you thought it was okay.
Well, it's both true.
But it's contradictory to say that it's both a great movie , but as a whole it's just ok. If you had said from the get go "It's a good movie , but not a great movie" then your position would've have made far more sense.

Personally I thought Inglourious Basterds was good , but not as good as some of his older works. I still need to get around to seeing Death Proof and Kill Bill to see how they are.

I still haven't seen Bastards but I do agree with that part of your statement.
I love his earlier more restrained constrained works much more. There are many times in KB 1&2 I found myself groaning while at other times I sat in awe.

Which is probably why Res. Dogs and Pulp are my two favorites of his; I do like them all though.

I completely disagree.

I did not descibe the movie as perfect. I said, it was great. Not just great but, "great, great." That does not mean it is above criticism. And as a whole, the movie has some transition problems that damage the film. But the greatness of many of the individual scenes make a film a definite must see for any film afficionado. And those scenes themselves make the movie great. Even though as a whole it's just okay.
Finally saw The Wrestler.

Marisa Tomei was :drool:
Hell yes. She's even hotter in Before the Devil Knows You're Dead. Which is also a better movie than The Wrestler.

I felt that Inglourious Basterds played similar to Jackie Brown.

That reminds me I still need to see Before the Devil Knows You're Dead...I can't wait to get Instant Netflix back.

No, let's talk this out, i find this an interesting coversation.

The movie is two hours and 30 minutes long. Let's be generous and say that and hour + 45 minutes of the movie is great. Excellent. And another 45 is used in, what is my opinion, poor transitioning that hurts the film. Then can not the film be great. Does the film not have greatness in it. But it's not perfect. And because of that transitioning as a whole the film is okay, because the transitioning is not close to the level of greatness in the other parts of the film.

But that does not mean the film isn't great. You're basicllly saying that for me to define a film as great, I have to state it is perfect. I'm not stating it's perfect. Did I say it was perfect. I said, that the film was great. Great, great. But as a whole it's just okay. But I belive that the individual greatness of many of the scenes in that film, and I didn't even mention the basement scene, overcome and outdo the overall problems.

You are all correct, those two statements seem contradictiory. How can a film be both great, and just okay? But I am able to see the film through both of those lenses. I can see the film as just okay. I can see the flaws within the film that prevent it from greatness. But I can also see the greatness within the film. I can juggle both of those disparate concepts within my mind. Can you not juggle that. Can no one here see the conceptual framework where the movie is both great and just okay? Or am I the only one?

This is on some dividing by zero shit.

Tarantino is the best at writing dialogue.

~~~
I am curious to how many updates I have missed since the beginning of May on the PS3.
District 9 was great. Though i'm still kind of torn about the main character. I went from hating him, to liking him, to hating him again, and back to liking him by the end.
Makes me wonder though,
the alien said he'd be back in 3 years to help him, i wonder if he ever comes back?
You should have stayed 'til after the credits.
Are you some kind of vagina?
I sometimes get the feeling that Tarantino is jerking off to a picture of himself when he's writing scenes with a ton of dialogue.
I heard you die in a couple hits, not my idea of fun :[
I wouldn't mind making MAG my second game (if they have it listed) but I'm afraid it's going to stink.
