The "What I Got for Christmas (or other Holiday)" Thread 2005

Guitar Hero (early Christmas gift)
Naruto GNT 4 (early Christmas gift)
Sin City: Recut, Extended, Unrated.
Star Wars Episode III: RotS
Batman Begins Deluxe Edition
2006 Guiness Book of World Records
Ripley's Believe It or Not book (similar to the GBoWR)
Denver Broncos fitted cap (from the HoF)
NFL Hall of Fame cap (also from the HoF)
Darth Vader mug with some M&Ms inside
3 cases of 25 DVD-R's
A new, larger luggage case (so my GH guitar can fit easily)
A Good sun shade with flames on it
ESPN Trivia Challenge board game
A very nice wooden pen holder w/LCD clock
$400 in cash from my parents
$85 in cash from relatives
A mug full of candy from my grandmother

I'm blown away by the quantity (and quality) of some of your gifts. I'm more of a "no presents" kind of guy, I prefer to just buy what I want when I want. I did get Lost Season 1 and Battlestar Galactica Season 2.0. I bought my wife a couple of pairs of earrings. My daughter got a mountain of gifts, but seems to have also received a cold.

Xbox 360 (got it at costco when they got their shipment in so that was an early christmas gift)
Perfect dark Zero
Condemned
Mr. and Mrs. Smith DVD
War of the Worlds DVD
BFG 7800gtx 512mb video card
Panasonic 5.1 Dolby Digital Surrond Sound System
New clothes

It turns out, when my boyfriend the $150 dollar thing he wanted to get me was out of stock... he meant AFTER he bought the last one.

I got a Pearl Pink Nintendogs DS bundle. :bouncy: I also got Lunar Dragon Song for it... which I asked for and pray I don't completely regret. (Now I must come up with proper retribution for being tricked into spending waaaay less than he did... )

I also got:

Samurai Legend Musahi as a stocking stuffer

Zelda Windwaker (yes, I didn't have it yet)

Final Fantasy tactics advance (one step closer to all of 'em!)

Gundam: Battle Assuault (lots of hendheld games this year)

Some-or-other off brand portable DVD player. It works fine, but it's fairly big compared to others, and the screen has a nasty 'ghosting' effect... but I don't mind. Now I can figure out if I'd use a portable enough to justify buying a higher quality one. :bouncy:

Christmas always blows me away. It makes me realize that no matter how unhappy I get, that there are lots of people who love me and care about me. And...

THAT'S COOL!

I'm probably missing a few things, but here's what I can recall (day's been a blur):

40 Year Old Virgin DVD (Widescreen Unrated)
Family Guy Volume 3 (Season 4)
MP3 Player
Sony Headphones (kickass high-quality ones)
roughly $100 in Best Buy gift cards
Various restaurant gift cards
Blank DVDs and computer accessories
Cash
DVD with just about every wrestling theme ever ( )
A few gifts from friends that I haven't opened yet

This Christmas was pretty kick-ace!

I rented 40 year old virgin. It's freakin' hilarious. It reminded me a lot of Demolition Man, but only because the guy works in a Circuit City-ish store.

I ended up with
$780 in cash
2 new wallets (to hold the cash)
Xbox 360 (From GF even though I waited at launch for it)
$25 GC to Olive Garden
Logitech Wireless laptop mouse (this thing is TEH awesome)
Old Navy Pull-over
$20 BB Giftcard (Which I'll probably put towards DQVIII tommorow)
Duster for my room
Ipod Dock cable (with USB to hook to my Xbox and Laptop)
Team of Rivals: The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln Book
...And that pretty much covers it.

I Don't think so dude this is a federal holiday. You could always deposit them at an ATM and pull the cash back out if you want.

How is December 26 a federal holiday?

I hate the bank. For my fifty dollar canadian check that I get from my uncle every Christmas, they now give me fifty dollars when it's deposit it, then send a notice that they're taking X amount of dollars away for the exchange rate (which has been going up. yay for me). They used to do the exchange rate thing and everything right there. I guess the tellers want to leave it for the next guy to catch.

Long story short, I spend money I don't have. =/

I'm also donating a couple hundred dollars worth of books to my local library. I guess that counts as "charity". So please don't fart on me.

Exactly how do you know how much we've all given to charities this year?

To break wind in such a tremndous fashion is a gift in and of itself.

I am sure most people have at least given to the Salvation Army bell ringers but the topic is about what you got not what you gave.

Yes, maybe we should start a seperate thread fart free thread about how much we gave to charity this year. This thread wasn't about charitable giving, it was about what you got for Xmas. Also, I don't think most people consider charitable donations as "Xmas presents", its just a donation to help others less fortunate.

- Twelve59 - G version watch from Tokyo Flash
- S'Squre - Sunrise watch from Tokyo Flash
- Daruma Courage tee from GMTEE
- PoPoLoCrois [PSP] (early brithday present, actually)
- SmackDown! vs. RAW '06 [PSP]
- $140 in cash
- $100 AmEx gift credit card

i don't see how gift cards are copouts when the person recieving it might shop at that particular store. if someone gave me one for, let's say, Urban Outfitters, i'd love it because i actually shop there. but whatever works for you. i personally liked getting the AmEx card for a change. it's a gift card that can be used anywhere that American Express is accepted.

I just got another gift today. I was standing near the counter when my mother opened a package from DDD containing "chichago bulls- the 1990's". Its a dvd set they released for many of the dominant nba teams (lakers, celtics, 76er's and bulls), it includes the history of their championships (plus what lead up to them), as well as 6 of the best nba finals games (full games). She said she had intended it for a xmas gift but since it arrived late was gonna save it. But since I saw her open it she gave it to me now. Seems she had forgot what she ordered when she opened it.
