They did this to me too! I had a credit card with enough to make one pre order. But best buy.com suddenly makes a second request to hold funds. I didnt get a chance to even change the payment method. I called customer service and they couldnt reinstate my order! I was so pissed! But i got lucky when pre orders opened up for target.com last week at around 4am in the morning. My insomnia made me lucky!

Best Buy is the worst, I only buy stuff there if its a last resort. I have not bought anything there since Gears Of War 3 because they screwed it up so bad. And treated me like shit, like it was my fault. Try and stay far away from that BS ahole place.

it's called external harddrive which most people already have, i could careless about charging cradle/ who the heck needs a stand i will not use wii U to video chat so it's pointless. they should have made deluxe version in white the black is too much of finger print magnet.

My Target and Walmart preorders are my backups. Don't plan to line-sit at all for this launch. I'll see how that goes. Besides, I checked with a couple Targets and they both told me they're required to hold the preorders for 7 days

Only care about getting one system so I'll release those once I'm good. Checking with friends and family to see if any of them want to take over one of my extras. If not, I may just go to the store and make someone's day and sell it to them for the 5 I paid

Yeah, didn't see any requirement. But figured it couldn't hurt to put another 10 down. Plan to move the money over to another item, if my BB preorder comes thru. And pay it off if BB fails me

half the people said that target will hold them, the other half says that previous pre-orders they sold out their inventory and just went 'oops' when a pissed off pre-order holder came along. i'm really nervous, i can see them screwing this up easily. the cashier who i got the card from was 100% clueless on what it was and someone else came over and combined they managed to figure out that they needed to scan it after 3 minutes of reading it :wall:
 
My card was just authorized twice for the preorder. For the SECOND TIME in TWO WEEKS. Best Buy, we don't all have $800 lying around!

This is pretty bad, Best Buy is run by people who have no clue how they're actions effect others and they don't really care. I can imagine doing this on debt card and being overdrawn by them, a new kind of hell.
 
I've been following along for quite some time and I don't think I've seen anyone mention this... If there happens to be a line in front of Walmart on Saturday, does anyone think they will let people with preorders skip ahead and pick theirs up first? I mean, we're probably going to be in the minority and we did have the foresight to make a pre-order, so it'd be nice if we could either skip to the front of the line or get put into our own separate line (the latter being more convenient for everyone). Basically, I just want whatever will benefit ME the most.

The first time it happened it did overdraw me with a $25 fee, but after a quick email it turns out it...didn't overdraw me--it was an overnight thing. I mean, who expected a second authorization of $371?

There's a reason why they're going under. With Amazon not taking preorders, we're slowly losing reliable places to preorder consoles. Gamestop is notorious for lacking stock and not having enough preorders, TRU is decent but YMMV, Target has YMMV cards, Walmart has YMMV layaway (but paying it off counts as pick up!), and the rest are flimsy and very YMMV.

I'll gladly spend $30 on tax if it means I can buy a no-hassle console on Amazon.

I don't think it's gonna be a problem. Every store will know how many non-preorder consoles they have, and they will let the line know where it cuts off. You will be able to pick up your preorder when your turn in line comes up. With stores having likely limited availability, there won't be that many consoles to sell, hence not a long wait. For preorders, showing up 10 minutes before midnight should be fine.

So if a Walmart has 10 non-preorder consoles to sell, those 10 spots in line may very well be filled up by noon, 12 hours earlier. At that point, the line isn't gonna grow any longer. So showing up at the last minute is going to yield you the exact same spot in line, pretty much no matter how late you show up.

All 3 of my pre-orders have "pending" charges on my credit card.
GameStop - Online Order
Best Buy - Online Order
Best Buy - Online Order w/ In-Store Pick Up.

All 3 orders were placed within a few days of the annoucement in September.
 
Got an e-mail from Nintendo World that they will be selling the Wii U on a first come, first serve basis with a whole bunch of other goodies.

I knew it.

Looks like all the shipments that WERE going to Amazon will be at the Nintendo World Store. I can't imagine anyone on line NOT going a Wii U.

My Wii U is paid at Walmart. My backup is at Target. Then Best Buy. Backed up further by Meijer then Toys R Us, Sears and finally Max and Erma's. lol just Walmart will do for me. The conspiracy theory's on this thread would make a great Big Bang Theory.

I believe the layaway preorders will be picked up at the layaway desk while the extras will be sold through the electronics department. There shouldn't be a wait at all for preorders. Then again, this is Walmart and anything is possible and probably on a store to store basis.

Yeah, good point. I keep forgetting that they're only opening so people can buy a Wii U and that there's a limited number. There might still be a big turnout, but if I can't handle the crowd for some reason, at least I know I can just come back later.

Considering that our Walmart will only be open specifically for the Wii U, I'm hoping I won't have to worry about a huge crowd. But I guess I won't really know for sure until this weekend.

i also have zombiu and nsmb u pre-ordered. i'm a little worried about nsmbu as i just finished nsmb2 for the 3ds and it wasn't as good as i was hoping. Still excited about the system and i saw a video of nsmbu graphics and they looked pretty good.

whoever is claiming zombiu isn't good any evidence to go with that? Or did Nintendo send you a review copy because they value your opinion on CAG so much
 
Also getting NSMB and ZombiU at first (along with NintendoLand), may eventually pick up Scribblenauts, Tank!x3 and Rabbids Land out of the launch titles as well if I get some spare cash or the price is right.

The reviews to several sites were pushed back, heavily indicating that the game is getting negative reviews.
 
I talked to the manager of my walmart store and she said to me to chill out LOL
She said I am guaranteed to get the system, since it is preodrered on layaway. They will put my system aside, no worries.
She also told me their store will get only one shipment this month, to cover preorders, walk ins and black friday (they will save some of them for black friday).
My store closes midnight, and reopens at 6 am. I was wondering If I can get my wii u just before the store closes at mignight on saturday.

Well, my store is getting 44 units of the Deluxe (16 of which are layaway preorders) and 10 units of the standard. There's no way we are selling out on day one.

The only reviews out so far are for Ninja Gaiden. Reviews being pushed past release date generally indicate negative reviews, but the game doesn't even come out until Sunday. IGN's review comes out on Sunday, so that's fine. It seems like most sites are on a similar review schedule to IGN's, which makes me wonder if it's not mandated by Nintendo.
