i played lode runner on PC. it's pretty fun, and watching your guy die buried alive if you accidentally walk into one of your holes is unparalleled in any other game. battle lode runner sounds like it could be fun
Really?!? Damnit! I REALLY enjoyed them games!
..I haven't gotten around to picking up New Adventure Island yet though.

Hmm..well this is good news then. I may have to pick this up on a day in which I have nothing else to play! Thanks!
Wait for the reviews to get a better idea of the game.
Which means then that the only console Zelda game not playable on the Wii at that point will be Majora's Mask? Yikes, they're pumping out some of these AAA titles much faster than I thought they would.

I've already gotten the two N64 games I cherished the most (SF64 and MK64) and finally played Mario 64 via the VC. Sometime soon I'm likely to succomb and actually buy and play OoT too.
They've still got a long ways to go... plus I think Nintendo is throwing out all their titles first as to ensure sales... notice how we've barely had any 3rd party support this far on the VC?

NES / SNES had a ton of great 3rd party games other than Nintendo's stuff, so I'm not worried.

But yea, it feels like Nintendo (and especially) Sega want all their games out first so they get big sales from them. They throw in a 3rd party game every so often to show that companies are supporting it.

They could probably make it until November with just Nintendo / Sega / TG 16 stuff if they really wanted to, and then let the third parties go wild. Kind of like how Nintendo wasn't letting anyone else do online on the Wii for awhile except them.
Capcom needs to get me some Mega Man 2 and 3.
Why not just pick the collection up for 10 bucks?

Cause the GC version has the buttons backwards?

well throwing out big games like super mario world and zelda:eek:ot shouldnt be a problem because those will sell to new adopters a year down the road still. people who buy a wii this christmas will still want these games, thats why we call them "classic" and "timeless" so much. games like wonder boy in monsterworld however, probably wont sell much more than the first couple of weeks its released.

I have Gradius III. Don't think I need to pick that up.

Maybe I'll grab one of the others when I go and get another points card. Something to go along with Punch-Out.

Yeah, I played the HELL out of Lode Runner on my Commodore 64 back in the day, so I might have to pick this up.

Now where did I put my cane?

;)

Those who bought Battle Load Runner, are there any Japanese characters to be found? Would the average Joe have any idea that this was an import?
Whoa. Is that the PSP release of FF1?

Damn. They actually did...you know, stuff to it.

Shit.
You likey?

I plan on getting the Japanese import of it.
I believe FF1 and 2 come together, and it has an English option.
Plus packaging is nicer.

But yeah, I'm glad Square has decided they know what the Japanese consumer "needs." Which is apparently to pay 5 times more for decade-old games. Nevermind what the more numerous American consumer needs.

Completely redrawn from the ground up.

That's an interesting article though... SE have really been douches lately.

"Japanese people are more interested in physical media" means "we can rape them for $40 - $50 per release instead of $8... lol SUCKERS!!!"

I wouldn't care if SE would actually RE-RELEASE it's old shit, in any format... I'd love to play DW 4 or Secret of Mana again. Yea, I'd pay $25 - $30 per re-release with added stuff, similar to all the FF's on GBA.

Instead, we get god awful Mana sequels and the same FF's rehashed over and over and over.

Also, FF and Dragon Quest are played by a wide range of users, from children to adults, so there are limitations when you consider the problems that we would have with billing systems."

I don't even understand what the fuck that means.

And Botticus, Japanese people buy a lot more of SE's stuff than we do... they already had 100,000 preorders for that FF on the PSP.

I doubt in the US they will even get 100,000 sales, preorder or not.

In the end, if SE doesn't want to re-release it's shit, that's what emulators are for. Too bad, Square Enix.

Yeah, they are really grasping for straws aren't they?

They don't come together; they're separate titles, with 2 coming out a month or so after 1. They retail for USD$30 in Japan (the yen equivalent, at any rate).

Square knows what they're doing. Bleeding us fucking dry.

My only Squeenix interests on the VC would be an English version of the NES-style FFIII (and II, I suppose), and DQIV.

Yeah the two FF games are seperate unfortunately. Why are they remaking the origional FFs so much (I mean PSX, (Wonder Swan... I might be making that up) GBA, DS and the PSP). Will they eventually move over to another franchise such as Dragon Quest or the Mana series, or is there some sort of legal reason (like they claimed with Chrono Trigger) that will keep them from remaking another franchise?

Also I wish they would of remade FF IV, V, or VI on the PSP in 3D..... but what ever.
Is Beyond Oasis worth $8.00? I've never played it.
It's a very awesome Sega clone of Zelda, with awesome animation, that I gushed over when they first released it.

Ugh...just wasted $11, I need to start trying these games out before I buy 'em. I'm not liking Battle Lode Runner or Tecmo Bowl...why didn't they put up Tecmo Super Bowl instead, I never knew it was so inferior.

Battle Lode Runner is awesome. Don't let the fact that you suck at it make you think it's not a great game, it can be hard especially at first. I wish it had less colorful graphics though, I like the more stylized versions of Lode Runner as far as gfx go...

Some one compared Battle Lode Runner to Mario and thats basically what I was basing it off of. Its an alright game, but I was expecting some awesome side-srolling, maybe something like Adventure Island.

As for Tecmo Bowl, why was this even released? Was there a reason for not just putting up Tecmo Super Bowl? (Aside from getting us to pay twice). TB is inferior in every way, to me its unplayable knowing what TSB is like. Theres 4 plays, like 13 teams...its still fun to play, but I just want TSB.

Read 1up's review on the games out this week... Battle Lode Runner doesn't pike my interest, but seeing Wonder Boy in Monster World compared to games like Faxanadu has my interest in a big way.

I assume Tecmo Super Bowl isn't up due to the NFL license being the sole property of EA.
Anyone who doesn't pile praise upon Tecmo Bowl ... well, it's just unspeakable what you are.
Tecmo is the shit, but he is right...Tecmo Super Bowl is the better of the two. Hands down. In fact, I'd say it is the best...football...game...ever...

I played Legend of Mystical Ninja SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much all those years ago.

I had totally forgotten about that game.
Man.
Lode Runner is a puzzle/action game though whereas Mario is pretty low on the puzzle quotient.
Yeah...its still a pretty fun and challenging game, but once I heard like Mario I wanted to touch it...and once I did was let down.
Monday's releases (pending):

Shockman (TG16)

Will update with the rest (?) later...
Also Bloody Wolf from what i've seen at IGN's release list.

Ok, I have 1600 points that I NEED to spend this weekend. What do you buy? I already have Gunstar Heroes, LTTP, SMW, SMB, and Punch-Out. I don't want OoT.

What do you recommend?

Other then that, Star Fox 64 and Kirby's Adventure! Great games :)

Castlevania IV and Alien Crush. That should leave you with around 200 points left.

Any reason why you need to spend points? I've had 4900 points on my Wii since Christmas, now at 4300 since I bought Dragon's Curse. Be patient.

I'm surprised to see there are already 81 titles for the VC. That's some impressive support.

Well, the main reason why I want to spend this weekend is I have access to wireless internet at my parent's house. Since I don't have it at my house, I can't DL anything there. I figure I'd get the best that's out there right now and maybe buy some more points later.

I can predict with very very close accuracy this Monday we will see Zelda 2, Vectorman, and Shockman.

Shockman was confirmed by Hudson for April, Zelda 2 and Vectorman were Nintendo Power.

There is only one week left in April, so it's a no brainer.

Hudson (or whoever does TG 16 crap) released the list of games coming in May 2007, too, for the TG-16:

Ordyne - shmup
Blazing Lazers - shmup
Ninja Spirit - platformer like Ninja Gaiden
World Sports - Sports

According to the Wiki, Capcom has confirmed Ghouls and Ghosts for the Genesis... this is our first third party game for the Sega Genesis!!!!!!!!!!!!! Can't wait until Konami throws us Contra Hard Corps and Castlevania Bloodlines.
