Small request:
Can someone make 2 images for me? I want a cool "NEW!" image..the size would be 15x15. I also would like a small 15x15 Japan flag as well.

I intend to make the 2008 Shop channel nice
 
Definately going to pick up cybernator, but I still have to get contra 3, which I have never played. How does contra 4 fair compared to its snes counterpart?
I need to get that one too.

The VC (mostly) emulates games as perfectly as they were on their original systems, which includes lag. :D Though I can't speak for Kirby's Adventure specifically as I don't have it yet for the VC. >_>

I didn't have any real problems with Kirby Adventure. But then, it is true that that are emulating EXACTLY how these games were. So maybe I expected it and didn't realize it?
 
Looks like Europe got the following games this week;

Blades of Steel - NES - 500 Points
Skate or Die - NES - 500 Points
Monster Lair - TurboGrafx-CD - 800 Points

This was technically their Christmas update, unless Nintendo does a surprise update on Tuesday. I wonder what our Christmas Eve update will include.

Yeah I played Skate or Die recently and it is still pretty fun, although I doubt I would buy it again. The sequel was pretty fun too, although it was totally different from the original. It was more of an adventure game really.

What controller would be most recommended? I wanted the T Thrustmaster but nowhere seems to carry it.

edit- the classic controller looks really uncomfortable.

The CC isn't uncomfortable at all. For SNES & Genesis games it works VERY well. Most people would prefer the GCN Controller/Wavebird for N64 games..I could agree with this. However, I haven't had much trouble really. I think I use the Wavebird more for Star Fox & Mario Kart. Sin & Punishment (if you ever pick that up) plays much better with the CC, IMO.

I don't have the Thrustmaster, and I hear great things about it. Having a CC and a Wavebird available is pretty good to have, IMO again.
 
I think Ill pick up a CC for now, but I will keep a look out for a wavebird. I loved the gamecube controller, but always hated the c stick. Thanks for the quick reply. Out to get one now.
 
hopefully someone can find a leaked list of games for the 24th...

I believe the leak gets leaked Saturday nights around 8pm (est)
So, we'll see.

There's actually a few possabilities actually that might make Monday pretty good. Mega Man 2, Bubble Bobble, and Super Street Fighter 2: New Challengers (or new warriors? :dunce: ) are all possible to come out.

According to the Hudson Website we are most likely not getting anymore games for December. So that means no TG16/CD games. It's not definite, but usually at the end of a month they post a few titles at the top and they all have the release date of "month/year"..and towards the end of the week, if one of them games are schedule to debut on Monday, they get the release date for the following Monday.

So that leaves us with NES, SNES, GEN, N64 and NeoGeo :lol:

To be honest, I am really not expecting anything major. That's not a cheap shot at them either, but I just don't see anything special happening.

yea, that title really caught my eye.
i've only played it in the arcade. i hope it's as fun as i remember it cause i'm most likely going to pick this one up.
 
Hmmm. Mister Doomed, any idea on what can be done for those TG16 games that are actually TGCD games? There aren't enough to put them in their own catergory, IMO, so I'd like to keep them in the TG16 section..just with some sort of notice next to them (like "new" or "import title")

I think Nintendo may have set the Christmas update bar a bit too high last year. I'll be stunned if we get 1/10th the quality of stuff we got last year (I don't remember what all they gave us, but I know Super Castlevania and R-Type were both on there)...

The Christmas Eve update has been leaked!
And not surprisingly, it's not an amazing update.
However, it's not terrible. Really. We've had worse!

Again, not the greatest update..but..def not one of the worse.

Not a bad release, but this whole week has taught me a lesson about anticipation. I was really hoping for Earthbound and so I can't help but feel a little disappointed. Even though I used to own the game, and have beaten it plenty of times, my VC collection will always feel incomplete as long as it remains unreleased. I'll probably grab 1000 points on/around Christmas and get myself Super Metroid. There's no excuse not to have it by now, for starters, and I thought it would be neat to get myself a game I'd received for Christmas before. I could also get Super Mario World, Donkey Kong Country, or Sonic 1 or 2 and satisfy that requirement (and if Dr. Mario, Bionic Commando, TMNT 2, or Shadows of the Empire were out, I could use those as well) but I've gotta go with Super Metroid.

If any of you chose to do that, to download a game that was a previous Christmas present, what game would you get?
 
Damn I already have a dkc3 cart, and it is a great game.
But why would they release all the dkc games before releasing smash bros?
It is like they don't care what the fans want. Why do we vote in all theses gaaaay little mii contests and not vote on what vc games we want to see?

Because if they gave everything the fans wanted ASAP, we would have 5 more years of really boring updates.

DKC3 is great, but I rank it 3rd out of the 3. My personal preference is DKC 2, 1, then 3. It's still a fine game though :)

Just remember: January 21 or 28 will be when the 200th VC game is released. So, there's potential for something big right there. New Year's Eve is ALSO a Monday. So maybe, just maybe, they can give us a good end of the year update.

So you don't agree that the fans should vote? C'mon man everyone gives that lame excuse. Why do you care if you get shit in 4 years if you could have the goods now. They can always save a couple of gems for 3 years from now but they need to have a vote! I don't want to vote for the best pilgrim or toothfairy, it is a waste of my time.
 
Well I saw on the ESRB page that Super Mario Kart was rated so I was hoping it would come out soon if not already (although I realize it takes a while for some rated games to make it on the VC). Maybe it will come out with Mario Kart Wii.

I'm still going to guess that Smash Bros will come out around Brawl as well.

And happy 100 page anniversary guys.
 
i finally beat all of the levels on super mario bros lost levels. i was finally able to put in some real time after beating galaxy. i beat it on all stars but not being able to continue on each level makes the game much much harder.

so has anyone else beaten all of the worlds? world C and D are very trippy. and world 9 is pure craziness.

i've gotten so i could beat the game pretty easily. i did it without continuing more then once. i haven't decided if i'll do the letter worlds again. i beat them twice and i'm feeling worn out.

I think you're getting confused with Mario Kart Wii. On the ESRB website, they only have ratings for Mario Kart 64 and the most recent one is Mario Kart Wii..which of course, is the Wii version and NOT Super Mario Kart (SNES).

Whenever I search "Super Mario Kart" I don't get any results. When I search for "Mario Kart" I get MK 64 and MK Wii.

What am I doing differently?

Yay DKC 3, now if I could only beat the original DKC so I could move onto 2 and then DKC 3, lol.

So since there is nothing of my tastes up for X-mas day I have decided to buy on X-mas...

I recently bought super metroid, and it is awesome! a definite buy. There is literally thousands of hidden areas. I now have 95 missiles :D

When did they say that? And Nintendo's been a liar ever since they said Zelda TP would be on GC only and not the upcoming Revolution. Then again when they said it would be on the GC and Wii with a simultaneous release on Wii day. Then they finally got their cockmongering ways right and made the GC game release almost a month after Wii. Nintendo sucks when anything gets in the way of its enormous profits, and yet my only next gen console is Wii. Why do I even trust anything they say anymore?

DKC 3 entices me...but since I'm relocating to another state in 3 weeks, I'm going to hold off on my VC purchases until I settle in.

so here are the main things that helped me through world 8.
first of all, while looking up what i needed to do to unlock the letter worlds, i came across how to get 1ups at the flag. for this, your coin total should be 11 times the last # of time you have left. so if you had 367 seconds left. you'd want to have 77 coins.

so on 8-1 i'd get 11 coins, and then on 8-2 and 8-3 i'd get no coins at all. and if i did the flag trick right on all 3 levels, i'd get 3 extra 1ups which come in very handy on 8-4.

and then i came across some hidden blocks on 8-3 that made things much much easier. somewhere around half way through there is a big in a hidden block. if i get that i'm golden. it's easy to miss in that it comes right after a hammerhead. and then a little ways further there's another block that has a star in it. this one is in a much less dangerous place. it's in the area right before the last spring jump.

LttP owns you. OoT is a 3D rendition of LttP that sucks 100 times more. (mostly due to the graphics looking like ass) On the other hand, I can look at and play LttP without barfing. I x3 16 bit.
