I have been worried about this from the beginning... especially for titles that don't sell that well. Trouble is, I know I will wait on getting a few titles because I am worried about space.
What happens if you download it and then delete it for space? Will it still be available for re-download?
Yeah. You only have to pay once, and your save files will still be on the Wii's memory (that is if you don't delete those two)

Wow! Starting NEXT MONTH..they will be releasing TurboGrafx CD and TurboGrafx Duo games on the VC for 800 points. It doesn't state whom will get the games for it, but they plan to do for all regions.
Book I & II and Chou Aniki will be the first games for it.

The TurboGrafx-16 is a nice addition to the Virtual Console. Don't get me wrong. But it'd be nice to have more. Hudson know what I'm talking about! They've announced that, starting next month, they'll be rolling TurboGrafx CD and TurboDuo games onto the Wii's retro catalogue. Games from both systems will set you back 800 points, and the plan is to make them available across all regions. Yes, Europe and Australia, that includes you as well. As for games, Ys Book I & II and Chou Aniki will be amongst the first available. Took them long enough, but between today's other announcement and this Nintendo finally seem to be coming around to just why we were so excited about the Virtual Console in the first place.

We have our first confirmed title for Monday

World Class Baseball

To me, meh. For others, who knows :).

C'mon Vegas Stakes!! Or Lost Levels (I have a feeling we might be getting those 2 Mario games Europe just got)

So Monday:
World Class Baseball
Mario Lost Levels
Mario Super Picross??

Doesn't seem right.
Let's take out Super Picross, and throw in VEGAS STAKES FOR ME! ty!

World Class Baseball
Mario Lost Levels
Vegas Stakes

^ good Monday

Nothing exciting, but I checked out the ESRB website to see if anything new showed up. I believe these are remotely new (again, not exciting)
Crack Down (Gen)
ESWAT: City Under Siege (Gen)
^ we knew about these since XBLA is getting them and they just came out recently in Japan AND Europe.

Golden Axe III (Gen)

Really..nothing exciting. But still. C'mon Vegas Stakes, where are you?!

Two CD titles confirmed for VC!

http://www.siliconera.com/2007/09/14/turboduo-games-heading-to-the-virtual-console/

Turbo Duo:
Ys Book I and II
Cho Aniki
OMFG!!! YS Book I&II!!!

That has been my favorite overall RPG for decades. I was always hoping they'd start bringing in Turbo CD Games, I wonder if they'll bring in Cosmic Fantasy and Valis as well :whistle2:k

I also hope they bring in the other YS games, especially YS III

[This is my last joke about it, I swear.]
I knew the majority of the disk was the Halo 3 beta, but small enough to be on the VC? Amazing.

World Class Baseball...I would rather see Baseball Stars (Neo Geo) or even Super Baseball 2020

Seriously, NoA should release Super Mario All-Stars instead of the NES versions...800 points compared to 2000 points...oh well.

Haven't seen it listed on here, but Super Thunder Blade from the Genesis is confirmed for Monday. I remember playing Thunder Blade on my old Atari ST back in the day and having fun with it...but not enough to shell out $8 for it now.

Oh, they will - just as soon as enough people have spent 2000 points on the other versions.

Hopefully they release something good today .. hopefully.
I'd say another RPG, but people would probably get mad for more RPG love, lol

Just a friendly FYI but Unemployment is making me go to a damn job fair thing today (..hate these things) and I have to leave around 7.
So I'll have this updated later when I come home. Not like 8am like I usually do :(

 c'mon Vegas Stakes!

Good luck on getting a job, lilboo.

In the meanwhile, today's update:
WII-KLY UPDATE: THREE NEW CLASSIC GAMES ADDED TO WII SHOP CHANNEL

Sept. 17, 2007
Everyone's favorite long-tongued, egg-tossing dinosaurs make a colorful splash on the Wii Shop Channel this week. Yoshi's action takes place in storybook "pages" made up of bookmaking materials and other familiar textures, including cut-paper forests, denim clouds, inflatable plastic islands and stacks of colored spools. It's a classic Nintendo® 64 game remembered as much for its beauty as its game play. Once you're done with that, you can probably find time to fly an attack helicopter or play a little baseball to get ready for the post-season.
Three new classic games go live at 9 a.m. Pacific time. Nintendo adds new games to the Wii Shop Channel every Monday. Wii™ owners with a high-speed Internet connection can redeem Wii Points™ to download the games. Wii Points can be purchased in the Wii Shop Channel or at retail outlets. This week's new games are:
Yoshi's Story™ (Nintendo 64, 1 player, rated E for Everyone, 1,000 Wii Points): The evil Baby Bowser has cast a spell turning Yoshi's Island™ into a picture book. Worse yet, the Super Happy Tree has been stolen, making the island dark and gloomy. Players must take control of six Yoshis, each a different color, and travel through six pages (worlds) of platforming adventure to recover the tree and return the island to normal. Featuring huge character models and bright, vibrant colors, the game's various environments (such as woods, caves, mountains and oceans) come alive in a uniquely gorgeous 2½-D look. Eat fruit, avoid enemies and obstacles, and throw eggs from the Yoshis' never-ending supply in your quest to stop Baby Bowser's plan from succeeding. If you're good enough, you can aim for higher scores by being picky about the fruit you eat. And who knows, you might even find the mysterious black and white Yoshis.
Super Thunder Blade™ (Sega Genesis, 1 player, rated E for Everyone - Mild Violence, 800 Wii Points): In this follow-up to Thunder Blade, you'll fly a new and improved attack helicopter in a series of attacks against guerilla armies that are bent on taking over the world. Although your aircraft is formidable, your enemies are vast and varied. You'll have to take on submarines, tanks, fighter planes and more. Your command of this state-of-the-art battle copter must be top notch, as you'll have to dodge oncoming fire and use your various weapons to eliminate all enemy targets so you can reach the guerilla base and end their nefarious plans once and for all. Put on your flight suit and step into the thrilling action of Super Thunder Blade.
World Class Baseball (TurboGrafx16, 1-2 players, rated E for Everyone, 600 Wii Points): Acclaimed for its steady game play, World Class Baseball is the definitive baseball game on the TurboGrafx16. Battle the computer in OPEN MODE or play a friend in VERSUS MODE. Customize your team in EDIT MODE or even watch a game between two computer opponents in WATCH MODE. World Class Baseball offers the complete baseball gaming experience. Of course there's also plenty of single-player action. The main feature is PENNANT MODE, where the player chooses a team from one of the world's leagues and strives to win their team's league. Beat league rivals and save your progress with passwords on your way to becoming league champions. After winning your league, get ready to the face the other league's champion in the heated series for the world championship.
I've never played Yoshi's Story either, how was it?
I picked the cartridge up recently from a thrift store for about $2.00. I think it's a really great, albeit a slightly strange addition to the Mario canon. It's also one of the best looking games for the N64; and even though I own it, I'm really curious to see how it looks on the Virtual Console. I'd say if you like Yoshi's Island, you ought to download this one.

Yoshi's Story is crap. Touted to be a sequel to Yoshi's Island, yet not at all.

Also it's the game that turned Yoshi's sound effects from cool to the most wretched thing, ever. Avoid.

I liked Yoshi's Story, but I'm not sure if I'd pay $10 for it. The game is so treacley sweet that it makes the Care Bears look like Marilyn Manson, but some of the music is kind of catchy. It's a very short game, so N64 owners were understandably upset about paying full price for it.

I previously owned Yoshi's Story and I enjoyed it although it is really short. It would be great for my kids, so I am thinking of picking it up.

I just got 2000 Wii Points for free today and was hoping there would be something good. I might pick up Tecmo Bowl just because.

Hey I'm back :D

Wow, I'll be updating the OP in a bit. Did not expect Yoshi's Story at all! Kinda nice to have another N64 game on board..that's a "maybe" purchase for me..since I did enjoy it. But that's all. Just enjoyed it, not OMGOMG!..anyway, somewhat decent week I suppose.

Vegas Stakes is out there and it just HAS to be close. It just HAS to be!!
Why would you want to buy Yoshi's Story?
Because it's a good game?

I'm offended by the OP calling it medicre, and spelling it wrong to boot.

Gotta pick that one up sometime. I loved Yoshi's Story.

This week's update can be summed up in one word: "meh" Oh well, every week can't be awesome.

Also, avoid Yoshi's Story. There's a good reason they snuck this one on the VC with no fanfare whatsoever.
Damn, what's with all the Yoshi's Story hate?
Yeah, I don't understand it. It's a pretty good game.

No one's claiming it to be Super Mario World 3 (though it sort of is).

Is still have the yoshi story cart, i was never able to sell it so i won't be buying it on vc lol. Never knew this much hate existed. If its worth anything on the yoshi story save file you get to play as black yoshi :) hint if you want to buy mine :)
Yeah, I don't understand it. It's a pretty good game.

That jerk Yoshi got a sequal to YI not too long ago. Considering the original YI was a sequal to SMW, I'm outraged SMW hasn't had a true sequal. fucking Yoshi stealing sequals.

In general, the VC admins really got love for the TG-16 (It's not really 16-bit..more like 12-bit, heh) and mediocre Genesis games...In addition, they have yet released a game for the Genesis that is not from Sega themselves...
Damn, what's with all the Yoshi's Story hate?
It's not a good game.

Never mind that it was sold as a sequel to the fabulous Yoshi's Island which it definitely wasn't, it just was a pretty horrible game on its own merits.

And I'm bitter that it ruined Yoshi and Nintendo has stuck with the sound design from that game for him to this day. ;)

I guess so, since you're not one to mindlessly hate on a game like this. I'm surprised.

Mini Reviews:

Yoshi's Story was boorrrring. It was like Nintendo said "Hey, everybody, let's take Yoshi's Island, but take out all the gameplay mechanics! Then, let's replace those elements with fewer levels than anyone would think possible in a $50 game!" Seriously. It has egg throwing, and... none of the creative things that Yoshi's Island had. The level design sucks, too, and the game is far too easy. Plus, it's like 30 minutes long. Now, I don't consider myself a master of Wii economics (despite my being an economics major), but $10 for 30 minutes of shitty gameplay is about the same as paying for an ugly whore who dies of ebola halfway through her visit. Also, she gives you the clap. Damn.

Super Thunder Blade... hmm... basically, take Space Harrier, then abort it in the fourth trimester. This is a clone of Space Harrier, but it does such a bad job of replicating that game that it basically kills whatever enjoyment you can get out of Space Harrier. Shitty graphics, audio that sounds like somebody's fucked up, screeching car brakes, and gameplay that makes you wonder if Sega has a rogue developer that wants to kill the company for good -- It's another winner for the Wii VC!

World Class Baseball - fuck if I know. It's another sports game. When we get Baseball Stars 2 on the Neo Geo, that'll be a day to celebrate, but today is a day of mourning.

Lose.

Rocko, yeah, I don't mindlessly hate the game. It's borderline objectively not good. I'm actually very, very surprised to see so many people who like it around here.
Shit! Changed that egregious mistake. Island is great. Perhaps in repentance, I should play through Yoshi's Island DS finally...
eh, DS starts out ok but is pretty uninspired. Just replay the original.

Honestly, Yoshi's Story is probably the game of the week this bad week. I honestly hated the game when I originally bought it, so I have no desire to get it this week. I mean, someone was obviously on drugs when designing that game. Because that's honestly what the game is.
I bought Ninja Gaiden and Sonic the Hedgehog today! I still have 800 points left. What to buy?
Kirby's Dream Course!

Honestly, you seem like a very honest person.

I tried Yoshi's Story out a bit yesterday. I was impressed with the art direction, but playing it felt very sluggish. Not sure if this is how the game always was or if that's a symptom of the emulation.

I don't think Yoshi's Story is all that bad. I'd put it in the same tier of titles as DKC--graphically interesting but ultimately forgettable in terms of gameplay. Unlike DKC, whose best feature was its background music, Yoshi's Story's BGM is some of the most annoying music you'll ever hear. It's nightmare inducing stuff.
