Zack Ryder is like Colt Cabana without the mat skills. The guy just knows how to have a good time and have fun with his gimmick.

fucking awesome show overall. Corre matches were nothing special, but everything on it served a purpose. The Alberto/Brodus/Ricard and Cody stuff was gold. Can't wait for the Rey-Cody blowoff at the PPV and the ladder match should be really good too.

RRRRAAASCCALLL RODRIGUEZ!

Rey's a bag man, doing bag things...

Quotes -
Josh - Cole was knighted last night on Raw. Well, he thinks he was.
Booker - Michael Cole has lost his damn mind. For the fifth time.
Cole - Thank you peasant Booker and peasant Josh.
Booker - Cody’s got a bag in his hand - he gonna use that to cover his face?
Cody - Everyone can see that I’m wearing a mask - my mask is for protection and protection only. Whereas Rey wears a mask because HE IS HIDING SOMETHING! HIS FEARS. HE IS HIDING HIS LOATHING THOUGHT FOR ALL OF YOU! In a matter of speaking, you all are wearing masks as well. And under the brim of this cowl, I can see through your mask. I can see in your face your envy. And I can see if all your faces the look of despair knowing that your lives are MISERABLE! The sick thing is that as bad as it may be fore you - you hope it’s worse for your neighbor! YOU ALL HOPE IT’S WORSE FOR YOUR FRIENDS, YOUR FAMILY! I BET THAT YOU CAN’T EVEN STAND TO LOOK AT THEM AND I DON’T BLAME YOU. But, tonight, I offer a remedy at my expense. THIS is a paper bag - assistants ASSIST ME - HAND THESE OUT TO ALL OF THESE PEOPLE! Please, gentlemen, HAND THEM OUT! HURRY, THEY ALL WANT THEM AND NEED THEM! THESE PAPER BAGS WILL COVER YOUR LYING EYES, THEY WILL COVER THOSE BLACKHEADS PROTRUDING FROM YOUR PROBOSCTUS AND THEY WILL COVER YOUR ROTTING TEETH. COVER YOUR FACES UNTIL I’M HOPEFULLY DRAFTED OFF THIS SHOW, OR UNTIL I DEFEAT, LIKE I DID AT WRESTLEMANIA, REY MYSTERIO TONIGHT! REY - THIS ONE’S FOR YOU!
Cole - Rey really needs to wear the paper bag.
Cole - REY TURNS CODY RHODES INTO A DR. JEKYLL!
Josh - Some of the members of the WWE Universe are wearing bags on their heads.
Cole - IT’S THEIR WAY OF SAYING WE UNDERSTAND THE TRAUMA YOU’VE BEEN THROUGH!
Booker - MAYBE WE SHOULD GET A BAG FOR YOUR FACE!
Cole - Good comeback, especially since I’m not involved in this.
Booker - THIS IS THE PAIN GAME! IT’S WHAT WWE IS ALL ABOUT - GETTING HURT AND STILL GOING!
Cole - IN MY MIND, REY HURT HIM INTENTIONALLY.
Booker - Your mind is small.
Cole - GOOD ONE! When JR was tweeting about ham and egger announcers, he was talking about you.
Booker - NO, YOU!
Booker - THIS IS BORDERLINE ASSAULT!
Crowd - PAPER BAG!
Josh - CAN GABRIEL AND SLATER OVERCOME THIS MEGA-POWERED TEAM!?
Josh - Maybe the Corre will follow LayCool’s lead and get some therapy.
McCool - THIS THERAPY IS WORKING WONDERS. After it last week, LAYLA LOST ANOTHER MATCH! YAY!
McCool - Lay, I’m not sure you’re even flawless!
Cole - CAN I HAVE YOUR ATTENTION PLEASE!? If you missed Raw, you MISSED THIS! (knighting clip airs) FIRST I SHOT J.R. WITH BBQ AND THEN I MADE HIM KISS MY FEET! HAHAHAHAHAHA! YES! I’VE BEEN KNIGHTED SIR MICHAEL COLE! But there can be only one ALL-AMERICAN AMERICAN, AND THAT MAN IS JACK SWAGGER!
Booker - Swagger has a hell of a wrestling background!
Cole - SWAGGER BOMB! IMAGINE HIM DOING THAT TO JR’S BIG OLD GUT! THAT’D BE A REAL SLOBBERKNOCKER! THE ALL-AMERICAN AMERICAN IS TEAMING WITH A KNIGHT - A VALIANT CRUSADER! I REPRESENT THE QUEEN’S KINGDOM AND WE WILL SLAY THE DRAGON KNOWN AS JERRY LAWLER AND THE PIG KNOWN AS J.R.! WE’RE GONNA HAVE BARBECUED PIG AT EXTREME RULES!
Josh - Combined, the Big Show and Kane weigh more than a monster truck and are 14 feet tall!
Booker - I actually was a king, but that’s another story. LET’S TALK ABOUT THIS TAG TEAM MATCH!
(after the stink face)Booker - Don’t even know what to say about that one.
Cole - Well, you’ve experienced it from other athletes.
Booker - KANE AND BIG SHOW ARE ALL BISHNESS!
Cole - Booker, you were a great tag team champion.
Booker - TEN TIME WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPION!
Cole - I wonder how Kane and Big Show will celebrate - what do they do for fun?
Cole - Could a move to Raw help McIntyre?
Booker - Yeah, but it could hurt him because Raw’s so stacked. He’d have to really step it up.
Cole - SMACKDOWN’S STACKED WITH TALENT, TOO!
Booker - Kofi is agile and versatile! BUT HE’S ALWAYS TRYING TO MAKE THE FANS HAPPY! SOMETIMES YA JUST GOTTA FORGET ABOUT THEM AND GET THA JOB DONE!
Josh - KOFI KINGSTON IS ROLLING!
Alberto - MY NAME IS ALBERTO DEL RIO! BUT YOU ALREADY KNOW THAT! AND YOU ALSO KNOW THAT NO ONE THROWS A FIESTA LIKE ME! That’s why I want to welcome you all to Edge’s retirement party. I bring all these presents for Edge! FOR HIS RETIREMENT! A GRANDFATHER CLOCK! WITH THIS, YOU CAN SIT AND WATCH YOUR LIFE TICK AWAY! Tik tok. Tik tok. AND I KNOW when someone has an injury like yours. You lose control of your lower body and you cannot make it to the bathroom! ADULT DIAPERS! WOAH! Alberto knows that there’s nothing better in your retirement than friends. That’s why, and only because I’m a good man, SHE’S HERE TONIGHT, EDGE! AND HERE SHE COMES! Ooh Lita! You look a little bit heavier, but I’m not gonna lie to you - you never looked better! Now you and Edge can have quality time and if your some reason you decide to have a romantic stroll - NOW HE CAN BE ABLE TO DO IT BECAUSE HE’LL HAVE THIS! That brings my last present! HIS NEW RIDE! Now he can go anywhere he wants! AND THIS IS THE BEST PART - HE’S GONNA HAVE HIS OWN HANDICAPPED PARKING PASS! ALL OF THIS IS DUE TO THE NEW WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION AFTER EXTREME RULES - ALBERTO DEL RIO!
Edge - Hahaha. Alberto. You look surprised to see me. They don’t look surprised, but you do. Didn’t yo get my RSVP - I went on Facebook and I never do that, and I said I’d be ANYWHERE. Mexico, the U.S., or even LONDON, ENGLAND. Who misses his retirement party? But we already know YOU SUCK. And you’re a lousy human being. AND A LOUSY PARTY HOST. This is brutal. Some might call you a party pooper - with Brodus, the weird-looking Ricky Marton and the fake Lita you got 1500 pounds of poop. A big flaming bag of poop.
Crowd - POOP!
Alberto - BRODUS, GET HIM!

The comments in that article from the dude who defended TNA in all kinds of ridiculous ways screams some poor intern forced to try to spin the article in TNA's favor.

Is it too much to ask a wrestling promotion in this day and age to take care of its talent and also try to stop being ashamed of being a wrestling promotion? Jesus, it's like both major promotions are ridiculously pathetic.

In other news, don't ask how I know, but people are busy at WWE offices doing video editing on news reels from the 1940's. Not sure if it's wrestling related or not (i.e., for one of their shitty only-semantically-not-straight-to-video releases, or for their WWE Network proposals), but it is happening.

Maybe they're going to bring back Kenzo Suzuki as Emperor Hirohito?

shop.mattel.com got series 8 in before everyone else, so 9 shouldn't be far behind - they charge the retail price unlike Ringside Collectibles.
I hope she sues them into a crater, wins, buys out the company, and then forces Dixie, Russo, and Hogan to clean the floors of the Impact Zone with their tongues.
I agree, but why Hogan?

Don't forget putting up videos of him on the shitter.

Flopping his dong around in front of his daughter in the process of trying to sell a rap-a-doo- video game. There's gotta be some justice for that, yes?
I think the last time he was on TV was when Snooki was a guest host on Raw, right?
Last time he was on TV was when Roddy Piper smashed him in the head with a coconut for singing "Friday".

Amy, Overdosed because of a stupid Punk that wrote her a letter and said he wished she was dead..They don't know what the Drug is, but they said it's a very strong drug that won't pass through her system the correct way and that's why she keeps on flat lineing.

People in her comments are making it seem like the P is capitalized b/c it was CM Punk who wrote her the letter.
Just want to say something about Zach Ryder. Zach has a Youtube show that is very popular among Zach fans. In fact, his videos are being watched by approximately 10 times the number of people who are watching NXT on the official WWE Fan Nation Youtube page. I've also been told that people are, and this is a direct quote, "spamming the WWE facebook and twitter accounts for days now", hoping that this will "help the Ryder Revolution grow". What I'm about to say is probably going to be construed as something against Ryder, but it's not, and in fact he's kind of in a lose-lose situation here. My advice is, stop doing this immediately if you're a Zach Ryder fan. If this was any other company maybe in the world, yes, all of this viral attention would probably serve him well. But this is WWE, and in almost EVERY case historically, if a guy gets over and it was not WWE's doing, then WWE has to prove that, in fact, he can't get over, and that he's really no good at all. There is a reason Bryan Danielson was given a new name and given Miz as his "mentor" on NXT. Same with Kaval and Laycool. Same with nearly every other guy who got over huge on the indy scene. You get over huge on the indy scene and it's WWE's "job" to prove that you are not, in fact, really any good at all, and if you do finally get over in WWE, like CM Punk, it's after a long period of having to suffer, do jobs, be booked in a ridiculous manner with ridiculous people, hear that you "can't work", etc. So, long story short, bombarding WWE's Twitter and Facebook pages with Zach Ryder stuff is FAR more likely to backfire than it is to get him a push on Raw or Smackdown. In fact, quite frankly if you want Zach to get a minor push, your best bet is to have Dave or I write in the newsletter that Zach is on the verge of being released and will never be seen on Raw or Smackdown again, at which point he'll probably get a win on one or both shows the following week.
Sounds about right.
Sounds about right.
Sadly.. Yes. It's stupid and counters everything that the WWE says about people "taking the ball and running with it!" The WWE spouts bullshit. TNA is apparently the equivalent of a Chinese sweatshop. I really wish ROH or something could get a decent TV deal. We need an alternative. I can't buy every card from every one of those 3 (ROH, Dragon Gate, and Chikara), but I will support them with more of my 'wrestling dollar' from now on. I guess I've just had enough of the bullshit.
Sounds about right.
About in this case means approximate. In the WO's case, that's spot the motherfuck on.

Percy Watson will be the World Champion at EntertainaMania before WWE ever does good by the fans.

TNA may have be the pro wrestling version of Upton Sinclair's meatpacking plants, but what was the last thing that WWE did that did not express contempt for you as a wrestling fan? The last time they signed someone, pushed someone, and said "yeah, thanks for supporting our product."

I'm a bit tired of being perpetually kicked in the dick by both major promotions.

I used to love wrestling growing up but can't stand watching it now. I came back when Austin & Rock were big but then stopped watching again in mid 2000's. It is just completely unwatchable to me.

I tried watching TNA for awhile but when Hogan showed up dragging the likes of his brother in law with him, I stopped watching that too. It was like the Fall of WCW all over again.

Finlay & Hornswoggle, for how cheesy it was, got me watching again. For whatever reason I like the combo.

I still enjoy the wrestling games (even though I don't know who half the guys are) and picking up DVD of older stuff here and there.

This thread is a great read, I get to keep up on all the news. Thanks.
Sounds about right.
That mentality in WWE and the wrestling business is so fucking stupid. If a guy is over, let him get on TV and make you money. I simply cannot understand why anyone would green light holding someone down. It's sad that these guys don't have a viable alternative to go wrestle for. TNA doesn't pay anything and will just drop the ball with you, and ROH isn't even on TV and probably pays peanuts too.

At some point you have to wonder why they even keep any of these guys around. Superstars is web-only in the US now. They're afraid to put every current and former Nexus member except Wade Barrett in a singles match and they've still been on every show for the past year. Yet a guy like Ryder, who definitely has the personality, and knows what he's doing in the ring can't even get a match on Raw once in a while.

There's plenty of room on the train leaving WWEville. I implore all of you to join me on it. It's a refreshing journey.

Stop being a WWE zombie!

This is one reason why I wish WCW survived—and have always been a WCW fan first: WCW was a pro wrestling company, through and through. For all the shit WCW got in its last few years, they tried. Cruiserweight tag titles? Putting more focus in the show on talented guys? I'd love to see WWE do that today.

And Neo, I'm right there with you, but my train stops at ROH (and PWG).

Well shit:

Randy Ricci, a former production manager for TNA Wrestling, claimed in a blog post on Friday that the reason Desmond Wolfe has not been wrestling in recent months is because he has Hepatitis C—a viral disease that leads to inflammation of the liver.
Ricci adds that the former ROH World Champion will be offered an office job.
Wolfe last wrestled for the organization in August. He and Magnus were scheduled to receive a shot at the TNA World Tag Team Championship against The Motor City Machine Guns at No Surrender, but were pulled from the event at the last minute, with TNA citing a “personal issue” as the reason. It was later reported that Wolfe was pulled from the event due to an undisclosed medical situation that would sideline him indefinitely.
Hulk Hogan is the only TNA Wrestling employee to publicly address Wolfe’s status with the organization. When asked recently on Twitter about Wolfe returning to television, Hogan responded, “Desmond’s situation is beyond TNA’s control, the ball is completely in his court.”

Now I wonder if that was what lead to WWE passing on him that allowed TNA to sign him in the 1st place. Did TNA let him wrestle knowing he had HepC for that long and then got gun shy? hmmmm....
That was always my guess. Hep C or HIV.

Shame, really.
I was also thinking it had something to do with his blood. That makes the most sense considering they let a guy like Kurt Angle go out there every week and do moonsaults and powerbombs off the top of a cage.

I heard that. I don't know if it's because I grew up in Georgia and it was WCW country or what, but damn WCW had just as many classics as WWF. And for every Robocob and Dungeon of Doom in WCW, there was Ultimate Warrior oozes goo out of his head or Techno Team 2000 on WWF.

Sucks about Wolfe, he could've been a heel player for real in TNA. Shit or even in WWE, if they picked him up.

Agreed, I'm still very much a wrestling fan and thus a Ring of Honor fan. My first live ROH experience over WM weekend has cemented that for quite a while. I gladly pay $15 for their iPPV's and will even dance a little jig when they get their next TV contract.

Who here is a "WWE zombie?" There's far more negative talk about WWE than positive here, especially lately.

Just because ROH doesn't interest someone & they know TNA sucks doesn't mean they are mindless WWE fans. It means modern wrestling just isn't something they're too enthralled with.

No one specific was named. That's not to say that there aren't some who blindly follow WWE no matter how bad it gets. That's what makes one a "mindless WWE fan"; continually showing up knowing that the product is terrible.

Based on the reviews here, I decided to catch up on the Long Island Story today. Really good, especially the father/John Morrison stuff. Also, could HHH have looked any more uncomfortable answering why Ryder isn't being pushed on episode 7?

I follow WWE's product, but haven't watched any non-Raw shows in years now. I'm down to watching Raw roughly every other week at this point.

I'm familiar with the major storylines (Orton/Punk, Miz/Cena/now Morrisson, Cole/Lawler), but that's about it. Couldn't tell you too terribly much about the week to week changes in the show - largely because they don't matter in the grand scheme of things. There's not a whole lot of development or in-ring action on any given week.

I think WWE benefits from my habit. I've watched pro wrestling on Mondays since the late 1980's, so Monday = wrestling night. If it weren't for that habit, it would be as easy to walk away from as I did that tv show "Preacher" (nowhere near as good as I remember). There's nothing compelling me to watch Raw - no question of what kind of amazing action or development I'll see tomorrow. The matches won't matter. It's not a matter of what they'll build to on the PPV, because they won't do much and what little they do (special referee in the lawler/cole tag team match?) will be of no consequence or importance. It's not the matches, because good wrestling matches with build, importance and meaning won't happen. 1-3 minute matches with 5 minutes of entrances and 4 minutes of storyline. The matches are bullshit, and just an empty vehicle to push their "action soap opera."

So WWE does nothing to keep me as a viewer. They benefit because, for me, Monday night = wrestling night, and that has been the case since Reagan was president.

But I'm really into baseball this year, so I probably won't watch Raw tomorrow. "The Draft" is a poorly written, deeply illogical, ultimately meaningless attempt to desperately catch viewers. Is it meaningless? Let me ask you this: what will be new or amazing or unique if Del Rio is moved to Raw? Dude has been on every week since late January. There is no brand split in practice.

The draft's illogical as fuck because a draft involves *selection* from ownership and management. The Cincinnati Bengals should draft a QB this year, because their current starter is (1) awful and (2) doesn't want to be there any longer. If the NFL draft worked the way the WWE draft did, they'd end up keeping Carson Palmer, losing Chad Ochocinco and getting Jerome Bettis. WWE's "put all them names in a hat and pull some out" approach to re-balancing their rosters is bang-my-head-against-the-wall insulting and infuriating.

meant to post this a week ago, don't know if it means anything but I got an email from Ticketmaster stating that
John Cena
has been added to the SD card for this weeks show when they hit Greensboro, NC this Tues.
Who here is a "WWE zombie?" There's far more negative talk about WWE than positive here, especially lately.
I had a reply all written out and then Firefox took a shit on me.

Anyways, people still just watch and accept whatever WWE shells out each week. I can understand people not digging TNA, but I don't see anyone saying "fuck this, I'm out" and just stop watching wrestling altogether either. I don't want to single out myke, as I do think others in this thread are "WWE zombies," but he admitted that he only watches WWE because it's part of his Monday routine. TNA has far better wrestlers. I can see why everyone may not agree on how they're being used. I don't either sometimes, but I mean, it's hard to find a shitty AJ Styles match. Beer Money, MCMG, and Angle always put out great matches. I've said it before in the past, but TNA actually has a tag team division. You won't see the current champ matched up with the flavor of the month and have it called a tag match very often. They have the X-Division. Yeah, it isn't as focused on as it once was, but it does exist and you get to see those types of matches that you don't see with WWE.

I think TNA needs to fix things as well, but I think the things WWE needs to fix are far greater.

I don't think they're greater or lesser. WWE's hurdles are bigger in that the systemic changes require Vince McMahon to die, because they'll never change as long as he's in charge - and he'll never retire.

TNA has a smaller hurdle, but they start with Dixie Carter to stop being a money mark for the bullshit artists who are leeching off her company like parasites. She needs to learn that the company name is awful, that her writing crew is fucking terrible, and that she should pay talent more equitably. Good product or not, the way TNA treated Daffney is reason enough to not watch them.
