Thinking of buying Titan Quest Gold -- opinions?

CAGiversary!
I found it online for ~$15. I enjoyed Diablo ][ and am looking for a game that I can play online with a friend.

One question I have is how does the loot sharing work? My friend ninja's stuff like crazy ("my friend") -- is it a classic free-for-all? Also, are the maps not random? I thought I read somewhere that they weren't...

Have any CAG's played it that might be willing to cast their two cents about the game?
I just played it single player (I didn't finish the game, by any means) and it was super mega ultra repetitive.
Exactly!

This is the best Diablo II clone out there--in fact, I can't think of anything that separates the game from D2 besides the graphics. Not sure how loot sharing works. The maps aren't random. My biggest complaint from the 20 hours or so I put in to it is that there aren't any deep caves like Diablo. Generally, it's pretty easy, but there are plenty of times when you'll hit a crazy boss and need to grind a bit more.

Overall, the game looks great and will satisfy your need to chop down huge patches of demons.

titan Quest is good, but it's no D2. In fact, you won't find an adequate replacement probably until D3 :( But let us know if you do!

I found it very enjoyable.

Still play it every now and again.

Maps are not random, locations for stuff for certain quests can be (think Tal Rasha's tomb ala D2).

Loot is FFA.

I played Titan Quest and its expansion with my brother and we had a lot of fun. If you enjoyed the Diablo series then you should probably enjoy this. It's a lengthy game so I feel I got my money's worth. You'll be able to put many hours in before finishing on the initial difficulty level even with the two of you combining forces.
The maps aren't random but that didn't seem to bother me too much. As for the lack of deeper dungeons, I didn't mind that either because for every deep dungeon I fought my way down in Diablo 2, there was the long run back out again...
The item drops and chests are a free-for-all but my bro and I would just swap what we picked up. Since we didn't overlap too much on gear requirements for our characters we weren't competing for the same items.

My only problems arose with the rubber-banding performance issue on some levels which was discussed in the titanquest.net forums and seemed to be common enough. And second. My dad joined us once and his character was levels ahead of us and is prevented us from getting one quest item because the game thought we didn't need it due to my dad's character level... It was a key to a door We had to restart the multiplayer session so my bro and I could complete the quest again to get the item. So my recommendation would be to reserve those characters for only when you play together and start another one for a solo game.

All in all I thought it was a worthy game to hold me over until Diablo 3.

I loved Titan Quest and Immortal Throne. It is a fantastic action RPG. I spent more time with TQ and IT than any other game in the last 15 months. The ability to combine two different professions makes it very flexible and fun. The 8 Melee, Magic and Ranged specialties can be mixed and matched to satisfy almost anyone. I also enjoyed the setting of the game since Ancient Greece has not been used very often. I've never played D2 so I can't comment on the similarity or lack thereof. Many of the people who rip on TQ loved D2, for whatever that's worth.

I loved Titan Quest...and have been waiting for the expansion to go on clearance or cheaper than it is right now. But def. worth it!

TQ was one of the most boring RPGs I've played. Compared to D2 it's incredibly slow, the worlds are not as interesting to explore, far more linear, and the skills are unrewarding. Perhaps worst of all are the inadequate quantity and quality of items.

This is $10 on steam. I'm thinking of grabbing it. I was going to reinstall D2 but maybe this would be better. Been watching youtube videos on it and like what I see so far.

I remember hating the fuck out of it when I tried it out (borrowed a friend's copy).

Oddly enough, I bought this, but I'm liking it so far. Playing as Spirit mastery to the start is kind of slow, but I'm sure I'll get my $10 worth out of it.

Divine Divinity is my favorite Diablo-like game, that isn't Diablo. TQ is good, and Sacred 2 just came out, and is decent as well.
