I have not played a Tales game before, so it's a little different for an RPG. The battles anyway.
I'm only a few hours in and it is just starting to pick up. The battle system was very unexpected for me. I still am having a hard time with it, so, for now I am just pretty much playing button masher in the battles and randomly using my characters skills. If you get it soon, please post some tips for battle.
I like the characters and I like the story, so far. There has not been any boring parts yet that seem to take forever. Things just keep moving along.
The character voices are a

ing joke!!! The first thing I did after the opening was turn off the voices. They are bad. It sounds like they are just reading a script with no idea of what is actually happening. And the sound of the voices is just terrible. Namco low budgeted the Europeans on this one.
The controls, as in walking around the map and in towns, somewhat suck, at least to me. The nub can be used instead of the d-pad, which makes the control better (alot easier to go diagonal), but seriously, the nub is so bad, it just makes it worse overall. Sony, what were you thinking!?!?
I think the graphics are beautiful. I like the music too. Not much else I can say about those. They typically aren't a big deal.
This game works great on the PSP. I can turn it on/off at a moments notice and not even worry about saving as long as I have battery. Which is the reason I like RPG games that take hours and hours and... on portable systems. Just put it to sleep, turn it back on, and no change. Just start where you left without having to save. Not sure if this is considering cheating, but it allows me to play more. Especially without not having to redo things.
I think that is all I can say about it for now. I need to play it some more. Of course, I would be playing it right now, if I stopped putting off my homework.
I'm also trying to play 2 other games at the same time. Which makes devotion to one game very difficult. Too many games, too little patience and time.
