This game needs a next - gen version...

captainofindustry

CAGiversary!
Now most of these are playstation which isn't exactly old school but oh well. Here is a list of games that I think need a next-gen edition.

Tomba 1&2(ps)
Rival Schools (ps) / Project Justice (dc)
Destrega (ps)
Gunstar Heroes (sega) So what it's an obvious one.
Megaman Legends 1&2 (ps) I know there is the 2, but is there another?
Decption 1,2&3 (ps)
Vagrant Story (ps)

I imagine there's more but that's all I can think of for now.

Anyone else, got any?
I liked illusion of gaia alot, be nice to see a new version of that
Terranigma and SoulBlazer are... related.

I agree with like every game listed.

Especially the Tomba games. Easily the two best platformers I've ever played.

Check 'em out if you haven't. Be warned though, Tomba 1 doesn't work on PS2. (NOOO!)

I did not know that about Tomba 1, are you a hundred percent sure? i'm pretty sure I've seen a couple work on the PS2.

Oh yaeh, here's one to add

Vectorman

edit: I've finally hit post 500. Wooo HOoo I'm an All-Star now. Yay.!!!!

Personally, I'd like to see updated versions Tomb Raider 1 and 2. The level design on these two rocked, and they are among the best PS1 titles. A good next gen improvement, comparable to the RE overhauling on the GC would make it worth a trip back into those tombs. A new Contra, which consists of graphically updated versions of the best side scrolling levels, would also be a welcome surprise. Shattered Soldier was a step in the right direction, but many complained it wasn't as good as Contra 3 (SNES). But the grand daddy of awesome remakes would be remakes of Metal Gear 1 and 2. The first Metal Gear was awesome - and long. The second I haven't played, as a North American version was never released, but it is supposed to be as good, or better, than the first. They'd need to add more story elements and overhaul the engine, but if done right, would be an incredible experience. Honestly, I don't see why we don't have more remakes of classics. It would certainly eliminate a lot of the tasks inherent in designing original titles, and more focus could be put into graphics, sound, and other icing on the cake.

You're refering to the old nes metal gear games right?

Btw loved both Eternal Champions and Eternal Champions CD that was a good update to a good game. I mean come on the clown car death was just f'n great.

I think the quality would hold up hell mario, zelda and sonic still hold up why wouldn't these games? Of course you would have to modernize them but that can't be to hard they aren't that old.

So yes... Tomba 3 would be the shit.

Streets of Rage (although there was some XBox game at E3 that did seem to be a sequel in spirit)

I'd also love to see a remake of Final Fantasy VII. I just started replaying it, and it'd be awesome to see it with updated graphics, higher quality music, and improved dialogue.

Like someone wrote earlier Battletoads! but it gotta be 4-players. Maybe introduce a new Toad?

We need more Co-Op Beat em' Ups. Can't wait for TMNT 2. Finally 4-players!

What amazes me is people constantly bitch about nothing new ever being made.. games nowadays being nothing but sequels and rehashes. But, then come up with hundred's of old games they'd like to see re-done or sequeled....

But, the Chrono series and Shadowrun are about the only two I'd really be hot on.

edit - I also detest remakes, I want a sequel.. if I feel it necessary to play FF#, Shadowrun, Chrono Cross, etc.. I'll just pop in the original game, I don't need updated graphics to waste money on.

re-edit - Syndicate, god that would be an amazing sequel. (and yes, I know there was Syndicate World, another sequel)
Eternal Champions
NiGHTS
Startropics
Bionic Commando
Die Hard Arcade
Damn, I was gonna say Bionic Commando...

There's a difference between a re-make/sequel and releasing the same game. Lunar: Silver Star was remade as Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete and was much better. Super Mario Brothers 3 is a great sequel. Super Mario Advanced 4: SMB 3 is not, as it's the same game. There is a distinct (although sometimes thin) line between great remake/sequel and giving me the same game I played 15 years ago.

That wasn't really my point. I read posts, hear whining and read articles all the time that complain the industry is stagnant, there are no new franchises, everything is a sequel... blah, blah blah. Anyways.. I just find it odd that everyone is on that bandwagon but yet can think of tons of games they want sequeled or remade.

And slightly on subject.. the latest EGM had a list of ten games coming out that were "must buys" or something... all but one (Fable) was a sequel to a long standing franchise.

tecmos deception (agreed)

didnt tecmo announce they were working on a new Deception? I remember reading about in GMR maybe 2 months ago. Probably along time off though.

I don't really have a problem with sequals though it does seem like a trend of sequals coming out. Then again the reason they are made (usually) is because it was a good game in the first place.

Back on topic......

I'd also love to see a sequel to Jet Force Gemini. That was one of the greatest and most underrated games on the N64.

I heard something about a sequel to this. Maybe just a rumor. But theirs gonna be a new Conker game out. But it's on X-Box WHY!!!!!

It's not really a new Conker game, its the same game with better multiplayer and improved graphics/sound. And its on Xbox because Microsoft own's Rare.

I'd like to see a PS2 Carnage Heart sequel.

And maybe a PS2 Bushido Blade... are any of the other 'samurai' games a good analog to BB1? I didn't like 2 as much. Any fairly grounded sword sims out there?

Streets of Rage definitely deserves an updated sequel, but not a straight up remake. I wouldn't mind seeing another Tobal or for Squaresoft just to port over Tobal number 2.

It's already been said, but there's only one game I wait with baited breath for news of a sequel to: Vagrant Story.

I would go so far as to say it was the best Playstation game of all time, Metal Gear Solid included.

"Shouldn't we wait for reinforcements?"
"I AM the reinforcements."

How badass is that?

Bionic Commando definitely needs a sequel.

I'd like to see more old-school 2D action games in general. Seems like ever since the N64 and Playstation everything has to be in 3D. And half the time the programmers screw up the camera controls/angles.

I saw several that I have been thinking of.
River City Ransom - has to be co-op preferably up to 4 players, just an awesome game that I still play from time to time

I personally am fine with Sequels unless they are ruining the line.

Crystalis (nes) - I spent more time on this than the original Zelda, and I'm a huge Zelda fan.

Blazing Lazers (tg-16)

I agree to some degree. The difference is that the games here are games that were forgotten but were great. Most of the sequels we have today are very tired and cookie-cuttered. I want either new innovative games, or sequels to these games (Actraiser especially) that had an innovative idea that never took off.

The Deception series by Tecmo is perhaps the most underrated series of all time. The graphics always sucked but the gameplay was so damn unique. Those games definitely deserve remakes or sequels.

Also, Konami need to get on the damn ball and re-release Snatcher and release Policenauts. They could release them as a collectors set.
Yeah, but Actraiser 2 sucked, Tromack.

Next-gen Blaster Master would be pretty cool.
They had a Blaster Master 2 for the Genesis (I have it) but it sucks. A properly made 3d version would be great.

I would like to see another Earthbound, or a proper sequel to Might and Magic, number 9 blew.
vectorman,
That was going to be remade, but it was cancelled because they didn't think it would be up to par with a good game or get money or something, a damn shame
