This is why I can't vote for Hillary.

What can honestly be done about illegal immigration unless it is made a capital offense?

There are too many shitholes people are trying to escape and not enough legit spots in the US to accommodate them.

Well for starters, we could stop wasting money putting them through the criminal justice system when they are arrested for crimes, and deport them. Then maybe we can get around to actually enforcing laws with employers.

But the political will for such things seems minimal. And I haven't seen any candidate really talk about it since McCain secured the GOP.

1. get real about stopping illegal immigration
2. provide a powerful registry that prevents employers from unknowingly hiring illegals
3. increase the too-small number of legal immigration spots

I don't like the idea of a guest worker program when we have lots of people waiting their turn to come here legally and work. Let these people come legally while stopping the human/drug traffickers causing chaos on the border.

If an illegal alien murders somebody in the States, the solution is to deport them?

OK.

Is another country going to give the accused a "fair trial"?

If you were a witness to the crime, would you travel to the other country to give testimony?

Here's the scenario I see:

Juan V kills Suzy Q.

The cops catch Juan V.

Rather than process Juan V, he is sent back to Central America.

The Central American government couldn't care less about Suzy Q. They'd rather let Juan V out of jail after a generous donation from Juan V's employer.

Juan V sneaks back into the US.

Juan V kills Suzy R.

It just doesn't seem effective.

Do you happen to know what percent of the prison population is illegal immigrants?
Nope. What is it?
Depending on where you get your data, it's somewhere between 25 and 33 percent.

To put hat into perspective, in 2003 it was believed that approximately 3.1% of our adult population was here illegally. (according to the sources I googled)

I'm not trying to say anything particular by it, but as you've pointed out, protecting our borders is a very serious problem that someone better finding some solutions to, but none of the current candidates want to touch this because they really have no solution.

I've really soured on here over this stuff as well. Initially I was fine with voting for either, though I preferred Obama.

Now I'd have a hard time voting for her if by some miracle she gets the nomination. Thankfully, it doesn't look like I'll have to worry about that.
