According to UNICEF and wiki answers and a couple of other sources, the average daily income in Haiti is $1.80-$2.00 depending on the source.
 
So it's above an average that is already pitifully low.Plus you have to understand that since the quake prices on basic goods have risen greatly.

But beyond all that, Haiti has been among the poorest nations in the world for years, i doubt a dollar or so raise is going to make much of a difference. You read in the article that their government tried to raise minimum wage to $5, but their president wouldn't sign it, knowing that the companies would simply move rather than pay that for labor.

Pay was even lower last year when lawmakers raised the country's minimum from $1.72 a day to almost $5 in response to protests. But owners complained, and President Rene Preval refused to enact the law. A compromise allowed non-garment workers to receive the higher minimum, but stuck factory workers with the "outsourcing" wage.

Indiana has theirs on Debit cards. Not sure where all it is usable, but I know the Post Office and grocery stores take it. Amazon, however, doesn't. I've gone through 7k on unemployment and just ran out. Hopefully an extension comes through.

PA does debit cards as well, but they also do direct deposit. Mrs. Number83 is enjoying her time off so far, but that is about to change. I may have gotten her an interview at my place...OH GAWD, WHAT HAVE I DONE!!!!!!
 
I saw Ronin for the first time last night...pretty good movie, but could have been better.

Also watched I Love You Man on :br:...God I love that movie. Just as funny as the first time I saw it.

Same here with DD, too lazy to take the 10 minutes tops it would take to do it. I need to work on a resume and get shit out there, too bad I was lazy in my late teens/early 20s, or I'd have a degree.

Does anyone use a HD Antenna (Rabbit Ears) for thier HDTV needs? Does it get more than the local ABC/CBS/NBC affiliates (Like Cartoon Network, Nick Toons, USA, etc.)? If you do, can you recommend a good antenna?

I want to get something decent for Number84's bedroom, and I dont want have to run cable to do it.

A friend of mine lives in the sticks while i'm in the suburbs, he still gets better reception over the air than i can.

I have 2. One is a GE that I picked up like 4 years ago on Target clearance. The other is the cheapest OTA antenna Target currently sells for $10.50ish. I think it's RCA.

Both work fine.

This dumb high-school kid posted an ad for ODST for $25 - perfect condition he says, absolutely no scratches.

First, the kid puts the wrong city in the goddamn ad, forcing me to drive a solid 25 minutes versus the 10 minutes I thought it would've taken me since the city he posted for was where I worked.

I get there, both disks are completely fucked up. It looked like he like his dog play with it and also licked his fingertips and intentionally left fingerprints all over each disk.

I tell him, uhh dude, these disks are kinda fucked. He goes, they work fine though. I say right. I'll pass.

Now I just saw he lowered the price to $20 today with the same ad. What a fucktard.

Anywho. I think I'll use my $10 TRU GC and just buy it new...
 
The only cable channels that I know of that were ever available OTA were the Turner ones, and I am pretty sure that was only in Atlanta and a few other cities. Those were, of course, well before HD.
