Thread XXXV - An honest & sincere letter to all Fighting Gamers

Im not a huge fan of any 3D fighters. I love me the 2D. 2D fighters are 90% of the reason I keep older consoles around and hooked up ready to go.

I own, and will play 3D fighters tho. I like VF series, and the Tekken series. Imo the weakest 3D fighting series is DOA. But even that game I can have fun with. Who doesnt like bouncing boobies?
All those reasons, and more, such as the lame sound effects and weak looking attacks, kill the game for me.

VF5 is a decent enough game, but I could never get into the series like I can others.
the sound effects kill it for me 90% of the time. The thing Tekken really does well is it's sound where everything meshes into a ball of perfect pain where in virtua fighter everyone's kicks sound like airplane engines and bamboo sticks being whacked.

also virtua fighter lacks alot of flare. yeah it looks fucking great, but there's about 10% personality in there. My guess is a deeper story would help. All I know is that Kage probably has the deepest story of them all since he's related to Dural.

I'm picking it up this week, though I can see myself ditching it down the road (not as fast as I did with DoA4 though). I like VF but never have had the ability to be good at it or enjoy it the way I wish I could. I don't think I need to change though, I think the game needs to.

and about that sound thing again:

Aesthetically speaking, VF is kinda bleh to me...

But man, I get pumped watching exciting match vids of high level play...(But I guess you can say that for any fighting game lol)... for me at least.

VF is very blah to me, although I can watch the occasional match vid. That isn't saying a ton though, because I'll watch match vids of games I've never played before haha.
Hell, I'm playing Power Stone 2 more than I'm playing VF these days. SC, Tekken, and DOA all have their moments also.
Ewww, play Power Stone 1 :)

A guy from a local import store in my area called Power Stone 2, "California Raisin Fighters" randomly one time.

I love Virtua Fighter 5 but I have to agree with everyone. As much as I love playing it, I don't think I could play it as much as say Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection. Then again it's like comparing apples and oranges right?

WHAT A KNUCKLEHEAD

I like the VF series a lot, but I played 4 and Evo so much that I'm not so in to 5. Kinda like how I had a huge infatuation with DOA:U, but my interest in 4 was more wishy-washy and ended rather quickly. Same with Soul Calibur 2-- couldn't take 3 for that long since I played 2 so much.

Got my GG:Accent Core PS2 from amazon today, yay!

So...playing lots of Wartech: Senko No Ronde. Its really addicting. For my final purchase of the month (to go with 28 games, PSP Slim and DS Lite) I'll probably get the arcade stick for 360. Needed for VF5 anyway.
I'll try to get it for an early Channukah present.

Also, Guilty Gear Accent Core is crazy. I can't figure out how to beat the stupid guitar bitch at the end of arcade mode. She's crazy. My guy is Faust. Sure, I'm awful at the game, but hopefully the more I play the better I get.

And...Chacrana didn't get banned did he? I mean, it says "banned" as his sig thingy...

Anyway, EB is getting VF5 on Wednesday I believe. I'll have to get it Thursday. Either way, can't wait!

Looks like it. judging by some posts, sounds like he made a joke account.

 Wow, that would explain him not being on the forum for a while. That's too bad.

I've said for a long time you have to have equal parts flash and substance. VF didn't get that until VF4 (which I liked). I've only played the demo of VF5 on the 360 so far.

I still love me some Project Justice though. Wacky, zany, funtime!

Well, it's basically a Wii version of a Soul-Caliburized Rakion Online.

Check out the gameplay semblances (and that first level in the canyon with the gate!)
Good news. Was talked to Chac and he'll be back tomorrow :D
What in the name of Sheng Long happened anyway?

From the man himself :D
"Anyway, what I did was create another account and I called it FoxyGamerLady and I posted a couple non-vulgar posts that essentially implied that I wanted to hook up with Mana. It was really funny."
so chac is getting the ok to come back I'm guessing. he won't make that mistake again again again again again again again again again.
Fixed.

That's why we love him ;)

I always knew he'd get busted trying to pass himself off as a woman.

interesting, I'll have to check out Rakion, looks kinda fun.

wow... poor eddy... kinda makes sense since in a way he's up against kazuya the guy who killed his parents... also, he probably has the weakest plot... actually a large number of people have weak starting plots but the greater whole (g-corp/zaibatsu war) makes it interesting.
Guilty Gear 2 demo up on JPN XBL Marketplace...

771 MB.
Ooooooo!

Hopefully it's NOT the same as the one from TGS!
Any impressions of the GG2 demo?
I played it this morning and all I gotta say is where's the fucking rock n' roll?

I dunno how to get on the Jappo XBL, and I'm probably too lazy to do it. I just want impressions.

And yeah, I'm back. I didn't get banned for being awesome and making fun of Mana (they actually gave me some leniency - 1 day ban instead of 3), I got banned for having a duplicate account.

Azumanga just posted a misleading quote and he should be shot for such.

That original post was pretty funny  I hope you learned a lot on your sequester.

This game already fails and I haven't even seen so much as a few screens.

I learned the welfare effects of the collusive basing point pricing system. Coz I studied dem boox an' took mah test for Economical today.

GG2 plays okay but I really don't like those 3D beat em' ups too much. The only one I play is Berserk (PS2.) It's a good stress releaver. I finished the first level of the demo. I think there's 2 levels, so if it got any better I wouldn't know. In the demo you use Sol and it's fairly basic:

1 weak attack button, 1 strong attack. Linking them togther performs diffrent combos. You can air juggle, shoot projectiles (Gunblade), and by holding down the R-Trigger and pressing the strong attack he can do his various special moves (Volcanic Viper). There's also an air dash which seems pretty useless so far.

You can toggle through items you pick up along the way. So far all I've found are health and special bar recovery stuff.

The Graphics are meh, Backgrounds look nice but eneimes look like PS2. Sol's moves kinda slow for my tastes. Overall it's got action and if you like Dynasty Warriors or Shaolin Monks you might like this. If it had some kinda co-op 2-Player online then then that would be a major plus.

Right there lol
If Sol wasn't in it I wouldn't know I was playing a Guilty Gear game.
isn't this a prequel to the GG main series? supposedly the crazy war dealing with the gears (of war?).

oh, and in the next month or so I'm going to start making products for my new design company, initially with clothing and stickers... alongside multiple medias:

in case you wanted to know, that's the company logo.

GG 2 is alright at best. I could not even make it though the demo. Graphics suck, and the control is nothing great, also I bet it really borning like half way though.

But there is some nice blood effects.

Rolento - I think it's some kinda prequel, I remember in the storyline about Sol being involved in some war like 100 years ago, steal that fire sword. Like I wrote earlier the only thing that could save it is some online co-op. 4-Player co-op could be fun. Besides Sol any returning characters?

Nice logo, what's you company's name?

yeah, GG story is confusing like most fighters...

as for the company, I don't want the name to be pushed too much since the image/logo is the driving force... it's called KOKI.
Yeah, so how is VF5 on the 360?
Amazing, I just did 10 ranked mataches (Won 5 : Lost 5) ABSOLUTY NO LAG I'm gonna do some training and get back on later. This game is a blast.

You're shittin me -- the game plays well online?

I really wish I had $60 to throw at this right now, but with my upcoming computer build, I don't... though maybe I can find some shit to sell so I can suffice my addiction.

No Lag?!? Aw, you mean I have to buy the game now rather than later? Man, that's great that they were able to streamline a fighting game over XBL. Gives me hope for the future for sure.

Shoot, I earmarked funds for Naruto today, too. Oh well, I'm even worse at VF than I am at most fighting games anyways. :p

I told you guys online is what VF5 needed to be relevant to everyone, not just hardcore fans. Sega finally gets it, and got off that damn high horse of theirs.
