On an unrelated note, I talked to the guy in your avatar on the phone about 12 or so years ago...

The only one I have doubts on is the SW.

Here are the pics:
Found my first 20 dollar game at a thrift store, a copy of Madden 08 (Or was it 07?) for the Wii.

They had a game called Shadow Tower for the PS1. Never heard of it and it was 3 bucks so I picked it up. They also had a black dreamcast for 5 but it didn't have any cables, pass. They also had bags of Lego which had me excited until I saw they were charging 15 bucks per bag, each one weighing only about a pound each. They also had a group of minifigures, perhaps around 20-30 but they wanted...80 for them (?!)
Shadow Tower is a minor uncommon--I have memories of it being slow and difficult (like being killed from being poisoned by a slime difficult). Though if you like the breakable weapons mechanic, you might want to flip it and pick up Koudelka instead.

the monopoly looks good. Hard to tell on the SNES ones, but from my (limited) knowledge I'd say it looks sealed.

The UMK3 though is hard to tell. It's a very late system release and that's not a very typical looking seal, but they did change over time.

The black sports edition Dreamcast is pretty valuable. That'd be a decent flip at $5, even without cords.

yeah it is, i can't find any photos of a sealed UMK3.

it's very possible that they used a cheaper shrinkwrapping method for those late releases though? UMK3 was october 96. Way after PSX and Saturn, and around the same time as N64.

I'd like to see more pics, especially of the corners and the flaps where the box gets opened. You can usually see pretty easily if its been bent.

I am 99% sure the MK is legit. It has a TRU price tag on the front, an additional security sticker on the back, a broken hang tag, and the box is a little crushed. I would think someone would try harder if they wanted to fake a seal. It just lookes like it was sealed and went through the ringer.

It is the normal seal with a fold instead of a solid seal. This type of wrap is common on VHS tapes and I am pretty sure it was on SNES games as well. I just thinnk since the box is damaged, the shrink is a little loose.

I know it is hard to tell from the pics though.

The two games look factory sealed, but the UMK looks like it was resealed.
Still, a good price for the games
darnit, you guys are gonna make me go back tomorrow and get that DC...
Get the dreamcast. Black Sports edition was kind of rare back then. I never own a dreamcast or N64 so I was never interested when I saw one.

I was thinking what u just stated, u maybe right. Some SNEs was like that.
Good find. I had a nice collection of SNES with games like FF13, SoEM, SoM, Mario RPG,etc. but my mom threw it out when I was a kid. Only if I knew I would have kept it.

Not much today. Found complete Final Fantasy X and Halo 2 for $3 each. Both were complete and looked to be in good shape, but Halo 2 doesn't want to load past the opening cut scene. Doesn't look like it's badly scratched or anything, so it might just need a good cleaning. Also got an NES zapper for $1 and Star Trek Voyager: Elite Force for $1.

Go back for the Dreamcast. Might also take a look around and make sure somebody didn't stow the controller or cords elsewhere, as that's what happened to mine. Console only one on Amazon right now for $30, too:

The UMK3 looks legit. I have most of my SNES games from when I was a kid and I only used to open one end so the plastic is still on the boxes and it looks like my SNES games that still have plastic on them.

Had some great finds from second-hand stores this week, including an amazing haul from the free bin.

Persona 3 Portable (PSP) - $15
Darkstalkers Chronicle: Chaos Tower (PSP) - $11
Virtua Fighter: REMIX (Saturn) - $1
Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla DVD - $9
Godzilla vs. Gigan VHS - $3
Kittie's "Spit" Album - $1.25

All of the following were FREE.

I stopped at my Goodwill yesterday and found nothing. But they were bringing out a new cart as I was getting ready to leave and I spotted a Garmin GPS for $20. It was in box with cable and mount (a basic model--the 250). I've been considering getting a GPS for my son to goof around with (he loves maps and GPS) and to use for rummage sales. I figured I'd return it if it didn't work.

But it works perfectly. Not a great gaming find but still cool.

Wow, very nice find on the PC games. Some very good titles there

So I shop various thrift/second hand stores pretty often. Mostly for clothing and cool shit for my apartment, and of course games etc.

These are the finds for the summer more or less.

Top left is a Japanese import Dreamcast game. Street racing. $2 at Savers.

The other 3 are all from the same SA

B.O.B. - $3. Never heard of it but I barely come across SNES games so what the hell
FFVIII - $3.49, I don't even play RPGs but its in nice condition.
MGS - $3.49

The DC game is going for $20 on amazon. I know the other 3 weren't amazing deals, I think I just got excited to see some actual non sports games.

Picked up Pokemon Snap for $2 at different SA yesterday. Made me happy.

I know people put a lot of non-game stuff in the yard sale thread, not sure if that's as accepted here so feel free to rip me on these.

Went to some random thrift while on a weekend vacation. Everything was half off. They had an unopened Godfather collection on DVD for $3. Bought it for $1.50 and flipped next day on amazon for $61. Really can't believe that was priced the same as a pile of crap DVDs.

Grabbed a couple vinyl albums at the same SA as the PS1 games. Beatles Revolver and AC/DC Back in Black for .99 a piece.

Picture%2525205.png

Beer tap was $2.99 at a Savers. Little toy guy was $3.99 at an SA. Box is a little beat up but everything inside is brand new/unopened.

Nice PC collection. Since they were free, does that mean PC is dieing?

That's Shutokō Battle - Tokyo Xtreme Racer in the US. Nice finds!

Anything you want for the Tomb Raider?

Today went from super cheap to kinda expensive-

First GW- Nothing

Second- Watermelon N64 controller and Perfect Shot Wii Gun (id never pay $20 for one of these but $1 ill do anyday)- $4.27

Third- Nothing until Im walking out and see a Xbox360 4GB Kinect Bundle in the glasscase. Leave it, go to the store to get some Mountain Dew Supernova and Pitchblack, sit in my car, think about it, go back in to GW, ask to look at it. Been opened but everything appears to be in there. - $248.08 after tax ($229.99 before)

EDIT- everything is in the box and works perfect, there was a profile on it and that girls Avatar is FUG hahaha. I already have the 250GB slim so Im probably gonna keep the Kinect and game then throw some games I dont want in and sell it to a friend or put it on eBay or CL.

EDIT2- Got an E71 error, hasnt read a disc since. Just says Open Tray or Shut Tray. Not gonna mess around with fixing it or sending it to MS. Back for a refund tomorrow. No Kinect for me.

EDIT3- I lied, still under warranty till next March so I printed a shipping label and sent it to MS today.

That game is gargoyle's quest

I wouldn't touch the stickers on those saturn games - any damage done to the top of the disc is going to ruin it.

I learned that lesson with a copy of Star Ocean on PS1, tried to remove stickers and half the top label came off with it.

Yep. I used to do this with family video PS1 games years ago. Most would come off fine if you go really slow, but you can't ever tell which one is going to rip the label off. Just leave the stickers on.
Saw a boxed Super Scope 6 for the SNES, minus the game, for $15.00 today and the box is in great condition. Didn't pick it up though.
Why not?
I guess without the game, the scope is pretty useless, and it's not that highly valued, is it?
If the box is minty, I would pick it up. A box in nice shape is much harder to find than the game itself. If games are really going to become collectible, the boxes and manuals will be worth as much as the game itself in the long run.

Hell, in some cases they already are.
I sold a Chrono Trigger box with all the fixings for $90.

I found a sealed Link's Awakening at goodwill... price
$150 :bomb:
.

Not bad tonight at the local GW, found a Donkey Kong Jungle Beat complete for $3 in the DVD bin - figure I'd pick it up because I like DK & it said you can use a GC controller for it. Then in the Misc Electronics I find the controller marked $4! I think I did well, both for $7...

Had to laugh, while these items were out in the store - all the crappy PS1 & PS2 games (including sports games) were in the glass case...
I found promotional VHS tapes for Banjo Kazooie and Diddy Kong Racing today. The case looks like they were designed to be mailed. Both are in really nice shape, 50 cents each.

Mine look a lot nicer than this picture.
They were mailed to Nintendo Power subscribers - you could also get them at Blockbuster. I got the Starfox 64 one back in the day from Blockbuster and watched the shit out of it. It's awesome.

Regular, "Players Choice," or DX?

Didn't go all out thrifting, but stopped into Goodwill for a minute. Nothing huge, but I picked up Tetris Attack for the Game Boy for $2.99. It completes my US-released retro Panel De Pon collection, so I'm happy.
Depending on the condition of the box and seal, you might still end up turning a profit.
I don't have the cash flow for the initial investment though.

Didn't go back to the thrift with the DC until today. Of course it's gone but no biggie. I was feeling under the weather and didn't want to make the 25 minute trip out there again BUT I did find a red OG Nintendo DS for 7. Kind of worse for wear but whatever. I figure I can still sell it for parts, I want more holiday game cash.

Oh found a copy of FF8 for 3 as well. Discs are in great shape too! Too bad it has a GH label, the discs and manual are both from a black label copy.
Depending on the condition of the box and seal, you might still end up turning a profit.
I think youre missing what hes getting at. Even if he could make a profit its still a Goodwill trying to sell a Gameboy game for $150. That would be priced $4 at my GW.

I know what you're getting at, but it is too bad that your goodwill is leaving that much money on the table, so to speak. I suppose that you think if someone donates a roll of silver dimes there they should sell them at less than face value?

I have come to think of finding the underpriced gems as the thrill of the game. one of my thrifts has started pricing things higher than I like in general, but I can still beat their system without too much trouble.

Same here, it would be $20 at most if the pricers were feeling especially uppity. Not too many needy people are going to be dropping $150 on a game; that Goodwill might as well open up a section called "for sealed collectors or resellers only." Is there a return policy if it's a reseal, wait...no?

Maybe they should sell them for less since they don't have to pay anything for them! Any other business might have to pay $3-5 for each $10 game they sell.

Picked up a N64 console, with two grey controllers (one of them has a semi-loose analog stick, the other one is in great condition), power supply, and tv cable, with the following games: mario kart 64, diddy kong racing, paper boy, super smash brothers, donkey kong 64 all for $26.xx including tax.

The console itself was marked $20.50, and the games were $2.50 each. But I asked the manager if I can get a discount on that bundle, and she gave it to me for $25.

I guess I overpaid for the console, but I guess the games made up for it, right?

The Super Scope 6 gun with box was still there today, didn't pick it up though. I will see if it's still there tomorrow.

Edit: All the games works, and I think there is a 4MB expansion pack in it, too. But I don't have the special key to remove it.

Ok so I going to finally post this.
Not much but a FF8 Black Label with manual for $1
Warhammer online in mint condition $4. (It looks like it was opened there)

The one thing that REALLY pissed me off was a copy of FF7.
I was like sweet FF7! Then I get to it....BOOTLEGDED TO HELL!!!!1
It is a a one disc case with the most photocopied cover i have ever seen for a game with the same terrible photocopied disc art on the discs.

The one good thing was I found the manual for FF8 in the FF7 box sooo.....

The sad thing was when we were checking out I saw thew guy in the line next to mine buy it.....poor guy.
