In fact, for us, competition is good. Do you think the Genesis or the SNES would've been as fantastic if one has exited without the other? Not a chance.
Hating the company that you don't own or support? You've crossed some line there into some bizzare, weird world that I'm scared to even think about visiting.
Where I grew up, it wasn't wrong to hate any one company. In fact, it was so fun because we had two sides: the Genesis kids and the SNES kids. We'd argue at bus stop, in the lunch room, at the playground and in the class room about how much we hated the other system we didn't own. You are right, competition is good. I hate the PS3 and I like the 360. But if everyone else and I no longer hate the PS3 and love it, then, "do you think it would've been as fantastic if one has exited without the other? Not a chance." With a thread like this, you are going to get people like me but without people like me, who would you reply to and without people like you who support the PS3, who would I reply to?
And the war analogy is good. Maybe I took to far to say we hate them

, but there's truth in that analogy. I also do not want to see Sony get grounded. Red vs Blue, right? "Why are we here?"

Oh my. SMW, SoM, FFVI, FFIV, CT, DKC, SFIITurbo, Super SFII, Bomberman, Super Punch-Out, and these just a few of the ones I can think of that pretty much was the definition of gaming back in the 90s.
