It has been confirmed that the PS2 iterations of Tomb Raider will be recieving a PS3 HD makeover in the form of the Tomb Raider Trilogy.

A listing for "Tomb Raider Trilogy" appeared on Amazon.de, and according to the listing, will include remastered versions of Tomb Raider Legend, Tomb Raider Anniversary, and Tomb Raider Underworld. All three games will offer trophy support and the collection will also unlock special avatars for PlayStation Home.

After seeing the report from Joystiq regarding this listing, Crystal Dynamics' global brand director, Karl Stewart, confirmed the news on his Twitter page stating: "Yes, it's official. #TombRaider PS3 'Trilogy' pack coming in the new year. Full details next week. Watch this space."

This is obviously being released to drum up excitement before the big Tomb Raider reboot, but with so many big titles being released who is going to bother rebuying these?
 
But....

Aren't most of those games on PS3, too?

EDIT: Okay, only Underworld is. But of all the PS2 series to get a remake, this is one I couldn't care less about.
 
Do people really care about Lara Croft franchise? GotL might have been the only TR game worth playing.

It is only worth playing an old game if it was actually good.
 
I really don't know what made them thing that there was a demand for this. You are essentially getting two games in HD that were already on Xbox 360. This bundle could just be two xbox 360 ports and one PS3 re-release.

Who really wants this?
 
What the hell? I'm pretty sure I owned all those games on 360 at one point. Actually, I know I still have Anniversary (nostalgia I guess).

meh, why do we, ps3 owners, want 3 shitty Tomb Raider games WHILE we have Uncharted 1 and 2?

Now the Xbox ppl, who don't have stellar game like Uncharted 1 and 2, need this HD remasters... oh wait, they already have it. :roll:
 
I don't really like the TR games but after Uncharted, I've been a huge fan of action/adventure games.. including TR since Uncharted borrowed many ideas from the series. I actually though Underworld and Legend were pretty good (minus the awful stories).

If it's ports of the 360 versions/PC of Legends and Anniversary, I'd bite. But if they're PS2 ports, which it sounds like they are... then fuck that. That doesn't make any sense since current gen versions of all 3 games already exist.

They're not shitty. They're actually pretty good...or they were anyways back when I played them.
 
At least these kinds of releases won't be taking up space on store shelves. Put them out online for the small percentage of people interested and be done with it =)

I never got to play Legend so I might be one of the ten people interested so long as they're available individually. I really loved Anniversary and Underworld was very decent.

My guess is the Trilogy will have a RRP of £24.99, like Prince of Persia. So the games will probably be available to buy separately on PSN for around £11.99.
