Tonight is the night - YOU DOWN FOR SFII?

Whoa, I completely forgot about this...

Is there a specific time it drops, or will it be right at the start of August 2nd?

Probably some weird time in the middle of the night. They rarely seem to come right at midnight (witness JimmieMac threatening to murder Major Nelson when Frogger was 13 minutes late). Somewhere in the midnight-to-4 am range. Probably closer to 4 am since MS is on the west coast.

*Edit* - poll added

12 pm PST so 3 am for me.

All the past Midnight launched games have actually come out at 1 PST. So, I probably won't wake up at 4 EST to check this out. I'm definitely planning on buying it at a time of day that I will be awake at though.

I need something to play. I'm not a hardcore fighting fan, so if there is a little lag, I won't be bothered much.

800 points, right? I may bite for that. I need something to play the hell out of once I get all my grading done on Thursday. I need to be reminded about how bad I am at SFII, and how often I accuse cats of being cheap as hell with Ryu. I haven't had such an experience since the days of X-Band.

I always bitch about people being cheap with E. Honda (the hand slap) and Blanka (electricity). Unless you time your jumps perfectly you are going to get killed. The Ryu cheapness (fireballs like crazy and then a dragon punch once the opponent jumps over) also sucks but you need more skills to pull it off. I used to be pretty bad ass with Chun Li but that was just on SNES and against everyone in my dorm... I'm pretty sure I actually suck though.

I also wonder about the speed of this game - ever since SFII Turbo, I don't care for the SFII/Champion Edition speed. The XBLA game is based off CE, isn't it? So no midair ryu/ken spin kicks, no chun-li fireball, etc, right?

Eck, too late for me then... I play against you guys tomorrow... I'll probably get rim -rocked because I haven't really played much SFII... and I'm used to fare like KOF XI and SFA 3 now which will absolutely destroy any chance I have.

I hate to say it but I think Capcom is gonna successfully milk me (PWNED!) because I plan on buying this tomorrow, even at 800 points. Yeah, I'm gonna spend another $10ish even though I already have SF:AC. I figure when they make SF:AC backwards everyone will scream. But by then I'll just play this over Live and whip out SF:AC for Third Strike.

I believe you are correct. Didn't Chun Li have the 1/2 circle blue fireball in the original though? You know.. the one where she sticks her ass out as she fires?
nope.
Heh, I guess after all the versions over the years it's all just a blur...

Well, you *did* remember her sticking her ass out.

I'll be up for a night of me getting owned on street fighter. Haven't played in ages, and I wasn't even good at it back then. I can't even remember anybodies moves. :whistle2:(

Is anyone here good? I'm not too good either.

I might actually change my mind if enough people here get it. I'm not that into playing with strangers in fighting games like this.

I'm the best in the world but if I lose I'll just blame it on the lag and then the controller. :D

I think a lot of people who are into fighting games in general will be good at SFII... I hopefully fall into that category since I know how to play Ken and Ryu and I just have to get used to the pace of the gameplay again.

I don't know, I'm good with Ken and Ryu as well (who isn't?) but me saying "I'm good" or "I suck" might be completely turned around once this hits. I could do far better or far worse than I'm expecting.

Anyone staying up to get it right when it hits - maybe we should organize something so we can all nail down that "top 100" achievement before it gets clogged up by morning.

I'm gonna be there for sure just make an uno room and have someone checking up on majornelson or something every 5 minutes until it hits.

I guess I'm the first to admit it .
I'm not interested .

I do look forward to everyone bitching about how it's not perfect .

I can't play it...I made a vow when I was 14 to never play against a human opponent in Street Fighter II. After decimating waves upon waves of kids with my Ryu and Dhalsim skills, a 90 foot tall black girl, walked up to the arcade machine, and completely killed me in like 30 seconds flat...since then...i don't know....

So do I. And then I look forward to my "it's not that bad" retort. See Frogger and Galaga for precedence.

Wait, are you serious? No Cammy or Fei Long either?

People will compain about the lag no matter what.

Hopefully it's at least as good as SFAC lag wise. That would be fine with me.

I'm definately getting this, not sure if I'll stay up late to get it today though.

I look forward to murdering people with Guile. ;)
Damn - some of those might be tough. Not losing a round? I don't know...
Set it on one star.
Wait, are you serious? No Cammy or Fei Long either?
Well, no Cammy or Fei Long (or those other two Super cats), but looking back at screenshots of this game, as well as the color of the logo (which has to mean *something*, I suppose), it appears to be based off of SFII' Turbo, and not CE. So now javeryh can  at Chun-Li's derriere all over again.

this is odd

I would consider myself to be pretty good at the older versions. When they released the combo meter I kind of lost my edge.

Similar to Mortal Kombat 1&2, the run button always pissed me off in the 3rd game.

Anyone that wants to play that is not already on my friends list send me an friend request.

Not too interested....I'll try the demo. Not a big fighter fan. Back in the day it was ok....not sure if I'll like it now. I'll get my ass handed to me anyways.

I doubt I'll stay up since the promise of 12 AM PST actually means sometime between 12 AM and 8 AM PST, I'll pick it up tomorrow morning.
So do I. And then I look forward to my "it's not that bad" retort. See Frogger and Galaga for precedence.
Sorry, can't help it. My five year old Powerbook runs these games perfectly. No excuses. ;)

You are the bane of my XBLA friends scoreboard. I will defend the games that I can actually beat your score on.

I would if I had the points. I am low on money and don't really want to fork over another $10 for an old ass game I can still play on my SNES. If there are no lag issues, it might force my hand sooner than I expect.

I was gonna get a Live card today and get started, but for some reason I thought this was based on Super Street Fighter 2... other then Ken, my best characters were Cammy + Fei Long, so this is kind of a disappointment for me.

How many people want to bet that Capcom will later on release Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo on XBLA for another 800 points?
