I want to start off by saying that I find a silver lining in every game -- I bought Enter the Matrix for 49.99 and thoroughly enjoyed it. I got THUG 2 after doing some trade-ins.. that said, was THUG 2 even fucking finished?

I started off in the story mode. I put in on easy. I suppose that this made story mode shorter and the objectives easier, but I can't help notice bugs and whatnot in this game. First off, some objectives are timed. You can hear the timer counting down.. yet no timer is visibly on the screen. Random clipping issues, unresponsive controls, a stupid ass story, and brand new features that have no weight on the game whatsoever ('freak out' after you fall), characters that make no sense (Yay! Benjamin Franklin impersonators! Aliens! Bigfoot!), and just.. ugh. The next to last objective (on easy mode) is to go through towns and gather up dogs before the city explodes. It starts you off with four seconds. Each dog you get raises your time. If you screw up once.. ONCE, you won't make it. During this scenario, dogs are also behind random objects and obscured by FLOATING M-80S THAT YOU CAN WALK THROUGH AND HAVE NO PURPOSE WHATSOEVER. My reward for beating this game?

A space station with aliens walking around and the ability to skate as Shrek. No, I'm not kidding. Why the hell is Shrek in this game?

Long story short.. I loved THUG. I would've been just happy with the same game set in new levels.. but Neversoft just slacked off at this. With Shrek, they used a normal player's body model, but an oversized skin. The result? Shrek's arm quite often going through his head.

Is anyone else pissed off at Neversoft for getting cocky with this? I mean, I have it on XBox, and you can't play online, so there's almost no replay at all. They took out link cable support, so now you can't even play XBConnect. The only thing going for it on XBox is custom soundtracks, and even if you have a PS2, all you'd have to do is turn the in-game music down and put on a CD.

Anyone else besides me extremely pissed off?

I heard about all these bugs, some making the game unplayable. It sucks to see the series go downhill. I loved THPS 1-4 and thought THUG was okay for being something different, but thought it was lacking. I'd also be pissed off if I payed 50 bucks for the game or traded in games of that value.

Nah, it's not even that. I traded in two games that I found at a pawn shop for $8 each. It's just that they've went so damn downhill.. they've got the "Man, people will buy our game regardless!" fever. I don't even mind the jackass people in it because they aren't a huge part in the game.. but it's just.. ugh. Pissing me off. I used to be able to throw in THUG and just skate while talking on the phone, if I was bored, whatever, and it was fun.. now on this I see a bunch of retarded ass ideas, and that's just in one level. You can be the Star Wars Geek in here, and if you choose him and find him in Boston, he's still sitting there.. uh, shouldn't he like.. be gone if I'm PLAYING AS HIM? I usually keep all my games, but I'm seriously considering selling this one.

i didn't like the first one, played it for a little bit and decided i'd wait, and now this one is out and i was going to pick it up at gamerush with trade ins, guess i'll just rent this or pass it now

I haven't bought a Tony Hawk game ever. Sure, the old ones were good, but I just didn't really get into them. That said, I played THUG 2 at my nephew's house, and I agree, it was pretty broken.

Thanks for that list, Oreo. I've noticed that if you free the bullfighter and then have the bull ruin the city, save it, then load it back up, the bull will be in the cage, the city will be fine, but the fighter will be outside the cage. You can also throw tomatoes at the kid in the wheelchair in Boston and the wheelchair magically disappears and reappears.

Anything else?

I thought 3 was the last good Tony Hawk game. I think Activision has strectched the Tony Hawk license as far as it can go. On a different note, I haven't seen a new Matt Hoffman game in a while.

Yeah, bam's laugh at the end, in the captions, is like "aha hahahahah ahh hahahaha hah!"

I was like.. wtf?

Skatopia is what pushed me beyond the edge. The control glitches with the fireworks were UNREAL. That shimmy glitch was in THUG1 also. How'd you make the QA team at Activision?

Am I the only one here who actually likes this game? I beat story mode on sick difficulty, and am currently about halfway through classic. I agree that there are quite a few glitches in the game, definitely more than there should be, but to me the only glitch that really negatively affected my enjoyment of the game was the one that froze your game when you saved. Everything else was just minor; annoying, but minor and not worth making a big deal over. Oreo, you bring up some valid points, but am I the only one who thinks you're nitpicking just a bit here? If you're looking for them, you'll find all kinds of little glitches in every game, from Drake to Ocarina of Time. These things happen, they're not worth going crazy over. THUG 2 is still a pretty good game, not as good as some past Tony Hawk's, but still damn good. Don't let a few minor inconveniences spoil the whole thing for you.

It's fun in free skate, but when I'm catching glares from the sun on the level that's set inside a space ship, there's a problem.

As for unlocking all of the characters, you have to complete the story mode on all difficulty settings (Easy Normal and Sik). You get a different set of characters for beating each difficulty. The best character is probably either the Hand, or the Call of Duty Soldier.

As far as working at Activision, I just saw that they were looking for testers on their website and sent in a resume. I had no prior testing experience but I've been playing games since the Atari 2600 days and that's pretty much it. Overall it was a pretty cool experience. I definitely have a new outlook on games and how they're made. The only drawback is that after playing games 8-10hrs a day you probably won't want to come home and play at all

THPS 2 was awesome, THPS3 was great also, THPS 4 was good, THUG was very dissapointing and crappy and after that rental i decided im not buy anymore THPS games for a while
Did you have to go to their offices?
Yep. All the testing was done at the Activision building in Santa Monica CA.

That sucks. Ah well, I guess the game was fun while it lasted. I just found the alien ship/egypt/hell thing, pointless but cool. I did like the anti-smoking messages in it, though (bust three smoking vending machines).. were you just testing bugs or could you make suggestions and whatnot? Were you able to meet anyone?

And why the hell will they not put this on XBox live.. and were, infact, extremely greedy, and took out system link, thus making it unplayable via XBConnect?!

I haven't played this game yet or probably wont but I swear I said the same thing about game glitches, bugs, and the game feeling unfinished when Activision put out True Crime Streets of LA.

True Crime was definately unfinished. I bought it new for PS2 when it first came out.. froze several times, had floating trees.. ugh.

I haven't had too many complaints about thug 2 so far. I mean there isn't a multiplayer breaking glitch that I am aware of this time. I know there is a save problem but I haven't been hit yet by it I have my CAS saved to my hdd as a back up so I should be ok there. Really to me the story and single player game is a throw away part of the game that exists to help me max out my characters and unlock random things. The Online play is why I get the game as well as random horse with friends who stop by. I like this one much better then THUG and the bonus of classic levels seals the deal for me.

unlocking shrek by playing through the game on easy makes sense to me. the majority of people playing on easy are kids, and kids like shrek. couldn't be simpler.

i haven't play a TH game since number 3. i am probably going to buy number 2 for my dc for $7 new/sealed at TRU w/ the green tag sale. true crime sucked, but i never had that freezing problem on mine and i beat it 2 times within like 6 days of getting it (with playing maybe 6 times).

What do you expect from a game that seems heavily infuenced by Bam Margera?

Tony Hawk should have kept him in the background.

I don't see what all the bitching is about, I like the game just fine...
I play it with a bunch of friends...
Sure some of the challenges are tedious, but there's a reason for everything...
First of all the timed challenges with no timeclock, are supposed to get you to panic before you get a chance to pull it off...
It works pretty well too, we started falling and everything without having a chance to get to the last rail in a couple of the "tour" challenges, but we found out we did have a little more time than we thought...
It keeps you on your toes, and it's fun...
Sure the whole "mark your territory" seems a bit chorish, but in terms of "bugs" I see few...
About unresponsive, controls, maybe something is wrong with your controller, because I think the controls are the best yet for a TH title...
Are you playing the X-Box version too??
Maybe the different versions have more problems, but I have it for X-Box and it's just fine...

I am a huge fan of the Tony Hawk series and really like THUG, but THUG 2 was a disappointment. All those little glitches added up quickly for me and I got annoyed. I ended up trading it in a week after I got it and getting XMen Legends, which is a lot cooler.

I hated the what the goals were set up and didn't really enjoy any of the levels I played. So i got rid of it. I'm hoping this is just a hiccup in the series and that it doesn't go downhill.

Only played THPS4, and that's my favorite. Didn't see the need for THUG/THUG2. It's like Madden.

Did pick up THPS3 for $10 at BB (still sealed). Recently got the Free THUG2 soundtrack at BB.

Oh yeah, True Crime froze on me a few times too. Once when driving really fast on an overpass; guess it couldn't load fast enough.

OT, I'm able to get on the Santa Monica pier, but has anyone been able to jump those concrete barriers and get further out; second set of barriers? I got a vehicle out to the pier as well, but couldn't 'jump' the second set of concrete barriers.

In THUG 2, you know how a character is speaking and he finishes his sentence, I think they forgot to put in the "Press A/X Button".

I think that is a glitch too. I also thought the timed challenges without a timer were weird. I thought it was a bug.

How good is the pay? Is it minimum wage? Higher? Decent paying?

Suprise, suprise. Found two more bugs, both involving the inline skater.

Get a special, hit down back B (on xbox) and he does the 'double fister' where he has two spray paint cans and leaves a trail. Hold down B and when he falls, it'll keep spraying for a few seconds.

Same deal here, hit down forward B and you'll do the 'don't feed phil' move.. keep holding B and angle the land to where you fall off the board.. the sub sandwhich disappears but the crumbs still fly everywhere.. and will continue to fly everywhere until you do the move again.

How embarassing for the development team..

embarassing? making a near-perfect game six years in a row? you guys are just nit-picking; if you look that hard in any game you'll find ample glitches. none of the ones you're describing even seem to affect the gameplay.
