Too Human Xbox360 49.99 Toys R' Us

I am here to say I dunno about this game, it seems to be getting really crappy feedback everywhere, but Eternal Darkness was worth the price of the Gamecube alone.. It did so many things right, I put it at the same level as Resident Evil 4 when it came out.. excellent game.

Too bad this new Silicon Knights title seems to be a klunker.. oh well..

I would LOVE so see a sequel to Eternal Darkness!

Ironically, I am just playing the Silicon Knights "remake" of MGS1: aka Twin Snakes.. so far it is very good.. basically it is just a visual enhancement to the orig. MGS1 for PS1.. and you get some of the moves that MGS2 brought about.. oh and they re-did all the cutscenese, and re-recorded with all the orig. cast.. I am only 1/3 thru it, and considering it came out like 5-6 years ago, I think at the time it was a very well done "remake".
2 are coming really soon and another is coming out in a couple months: Tales of Vesperia next week, Infinite Undiscovery in two weeks, and Last Remnant in November.
I think theres a vesperia demo out right now. I personally dont like turn based RPGs but vesperia is kind of a hybrid. The battles remind me of eternal sonata and the graphics are beautiful. Lots of text bubbles though. Anyone who liked Eternal Sonata should check it out.

i have 0 money/time but i want to get all of those games. Im going to buy Too human/CivRev with the toys r us deal

Yeah, Eternal Darkness was really great, wasn't it.

As for Vesperia, the battles don't feel like a hybrid at all to me. I guess you mean because you can hit the menu and diddle with stuff? I dunno. They feel like straight-up action to me, similar to Star Ocean and Tri-Ace's other games lately (Radiata Stories, Infinite Undiscovery, etc).

I honestly prefer turn-based battles, and I hate this new trend, but if any game gets me to swing, it's a good Tales game. Symphonia was excellent.

Hey, two great GameCube games mentioned in one post!

JRPG'S:

Lost Odyssey: On second disk
Blue Dragon: Have it, finishing Lo first
Enchanted Arms: Looks like shit
Eternal Sonata: Decided to wait it out for the PS3 version, november 4
Infinite Undiscovery: Very secret, but from what i've seen it just looks meh
Last Remnant: Next to NOTHING is known
Tales of Vesperia: The demo was awful. I'll end up trading for it on here, not worth retail.

Conclusion: Outlook is pretty bleak. I'm waiting for White Knight Story :)

/end blog i was too lazy to make

That's funny, Eternal Sonata reminded me of all the Tales games. :p
online it says this is coming to Toys R Us on the 21st.....isn't it releasing everywhere tomorrow?
Noticed the same thing. Seems goofy to me.

Gamespot gave this game a review score of 5.5/10. Game also scored badly elsewhere.

Can't believe Silicon Knights managed to blow over 10 years and 80+ million dollars on this. Guess Nintendo wasn't stupid after all when they refused to give SK that much money and severed all connections with them.

The game wasn't in development for 10 years. Only the last 4 or so. They had the idea for 10 years. People still can't get information straight

Well, you guys still in on this deal? I'd just Gamefly it or rent it from BB or HWV...

IGN: 7.8/10
GameSpot: 5.5/10
Game Informer: 6.5/10 (need confirmation on this one)

I'm personally going to Gamefly this game, and I'll go ahead and buy Tales of Vesperia and pre-order Fable II.

I'm still skeptical there is any deal to be had. While they might honor the on-line price at TRU.com, I find it hard to believe that the retail stores will follow suit, particularly since no other store is selling for below MSRP and they didn't advertise $10 off in the ad this week. The 20% off coupon will work, but with tax, that means the game will still be $52 here in California which is not much of a deal, even assuming you buy another game at half off.

Yeah, and Rumblebear, you have it backwards. Silicon Knights left Nintendo. They weren't happy with Nintendo's new "we don't care about games" focus. Neither am I.

I could not possibly care what "Gamespot" has to say about anything. I deleted all my bookmarks to them last November when they fired Jeff Gerstman (and then basically everyone else quit).

At any rate, I'm glad to see IGN's review. "A good game with a few questionable design decision".

I'm definitely getting it, if I can manage to get it for a slight discount either through Toy's R Us or one of these other deals.

I enjoyed the demo, and I think this will be worthwhile, I plan to take advantage of the b1 get half off and pick up another 49.99 title to extend the savings!!!
Wait for it to get a Haze-level price drop. They're withholding the reviews for a reason.
"They"? Lol...cue the ominous music. No one is withholding reviews. 99% of reviews (Gamespot, IGN, etc.) are published after the game's release.

Hey, welcome to the gaming world. You're clearly quite new, so allow me to explain a little something. See, when reviewers get games, they have to agree to release their reviews at a certain time. With Metal Gear Solid 4, reviewers were allowed to release their reviews early as long as they agreed to a certain set of conditions, and if they didn't it would jeopardize their relationship with the company sending them free shit to review. Note, then, that SK or whomever clearly knew their game was going to be shit...so they told the reviewers that they could only release their reviews on the day that the game releases. That is, today.

They sohuld've told them to never release it xD

I actually am going to buy it, $40 from TRU, so thanks guys.

Agree 1000%. In two months this will be available for $29.99. Trust me. Wait.

Can someone post if they have any luck using the 20% off coupon on this today - and also confirm the $49.99 price in-store? Thanks!

I laugh when people say OMG 10!!! years in development and they BLEW it!!!

Its been a concept for 10 years, NOT in development :) Im glad someone else brought it up

I can confirm that Toys R Us B&M also has Too Human for $49.99.

Picked up that plus Madden 09 (-20% off coupon) for $73 before tax thanks to the B1G1 50% off. Great deal!!

I'll second that its 49.99. Just grabbed Too Human and Lost Odyssey for $90 after tax. They didn't take the 20% off coupon and I didn't press it since it pretty clearly reads "No Copies".

For the record, I had the original 20% off coupon and had no issue whatsoever. I do imagine copies will be YMMV.

So it was already in stock? I can't go tonight, but maybe tomorrow night. I could get that and...there was some $30 game I was thinking of, can't remember what.

Yes, they had just received it today (~12pm EST Wednesday).

I think it has to do with location if they have it or not, here in Illinois, no stores have it, or have even heard of it for that matter.

What area? I went to pick up madden at fox valley on the day the 20% would stack with the giftcards, and they "Sold Out" with about 10 display boxes that you bring up to the counter still on the floor.

When I got my copy, the cashier pulled it right out of the DHL box and asked her manager if she could sell it to me. I'm sure they got it a few hours earlier.

They also had some copies of Mario Kart too, for those interested.

EDIT: I'm in South NJ, btw.

Just picked up Soul Calibur IV for $47.99 after original 20% coupon and Too Human for $24.99 after 50% discount for a total before tax of $72.98. Thanks OP!

TRU in Puerto Rico has this for 56.99 instead Which is still a better value than you can get most places. Struck out on the 20 perent off coupon so i decided to pass

I called today and asked about an hour ago. They could have got a shipment, but around here almost everything comes late at night (UPS at like 7pm, DHL at like 5pm, FedEX not before 3pm). Ill probably just see tomorrow or Friday.
Agree 1000%. In two months this will be available for $29.99. Trust me. Wait.
Or you can get it now for $40. >_>

I bought two copies of Too Human (one for me, one for a friend). They let me use a printed 20% coupon. Total after tax was just below $70. Thanks op great deal. Two copies of a brand new game for just under $35 each.

Got two copies of Too Human at the Newark, DE TRU for about $65 after coupon and b1g1. Also got an enormous amount of vitriol for buying the game in the first place from the guy working the counter. If anybody cares, they also had copies of Madden 09 CE. Thanks to everybody for updates on the prices/coupons/offers.

Scored Too Human and Soul Calibur using the B1G1 half off and the 20% off coupon. The coupon was a copy too. No issues. 2 new games for just under $80. Good deal. Thanks again OP!
Im still unsure if i should pick up too human
The B2G1F sale is coming up sometime in October, so it might be worth it to hold off and see what happens with the game pricewise or if there are any other coupons at that time. Worst case scenario, you could still get it for $40 at that time.

Well I caved and bought Too Human and Battlefield: BC for a grand total of $82.xx after the $10 gift card with Madden 09 and B1G1 50% off sale. Not bad if you ask me since Too Human came out to $24.xx afterward, which is exactly what I would have paid for it in the first place. Could not find the 20% off coupon to save my life though. Kinda bummed about it but whatever.

I feel like this game is going to be $29.99 before long anyway, and I'm not sure if I even want to bother with it at that price.

It has no advertising to trick the general audience into buying it, and its low review scores will keep elitist nerds like me away from it, so I just don't see it selling well. I see its price going down quickly.

I completely agree with you. It's a shame because I actually enjoyed the demo quite a bit and I love dungeon crawlers; this is one of the only dungeon crawlers on 360 that I know of. The $49.99 price at TRU should also be an indicator of how well they think it will sell. Heck my store had ONE copy of the game and the guy behind the counter, who I know and is usually very knowledgeable, had no idea it was there because it was tucked in between Tony Hawk and Top Spin 3. I mean if they only got one copy in, and by the sound of it he hadn't sold any copies the previous 2 days, this might be one of those sleeper titles like Zak and Wiki.

I definitely think people should give it a chance and at least play the demo. It's certainly not a must have IMO, but it's a game that people should at least play. I'm glad I only paid $25 for it after all the discounts.

It'll definitely find its niche.

The funny thing is, with a little marketing push, it could have done well despite not being perfect (I personally don't like it, even though it certainly has elements I would enjoy). And Zak and Wiki, for instance, which I think is a fantastic game (it reviewed well, too), really should have sold well but didn't so much. Strange lack of marketing in both cases.

Then again, I could be totally wrong, and perhaps Too Human will sell at a good clip.

I echo the same advice, but from the opposite slant. Try before you buy! :) I didn't like it, but others find it's really their thing. If it's your thing, you'll be happy, whether you pay $25 or $50. (God forbid anyone pay $60 tho. :p

Haha yea it's definitely one of those games that will have to find a niche to be somewhat successful, depending on your definition of success. Personally, I think it will be a game that has a cult following just because of the subject matter it deals with. For me, it appears to be a lot like the upcoming game Legendary with it's unusual style and story. Too Human is not a "game for all gamers" by any means; heck it may just be what "hard core" gamers are looking for, if they stil exist lol.

I certainly respect your opinion of the game because you tried it out. Honestly I can't tell you enough how refreshing it is to read an opinion of a game that doesn't include the words "noob", "lolz", or any word that ends incorrectly with the letter "z" for that matter.

I really hope this game sells well so people can experience it, but I mainy bought it to play with my friends so it's worth it for me personally. Of course I HATE paying $60 for ANY game but I guess I just did with BF: BC and MAdden 09 this month so who am I to say anything haha!
