Top 10 Useless College Courses The World!!!
Same here. You can try to pry information from them on how to do a problem and they will tell you to read your textbook or pay more attention in class. I wanted to tell my bio teacher that I pay his salary, but i chickened out and just asked a tutor. If theres anything i learned in college is that you have to be aggressive. Acknowledge your weaknesses, but don't let your professors win. Bug them hell out of them until they teach you the right things
I've told teachers to go fuck themselves and went off to the dean of a division before. If they don't want to teach me, I'm getting a refund for the class. If I want to just read a book or see powerpoints from a disc that came with the book, I'll sit at home and not pay the college or waste my time in a class with little temperature control and uncomfortable chairs.
The problem is that college costs money. Learning for learning's sake is fun until you're going broke because you need a degree in a non-trade field but are being dragged through the mud in classes which don't appeal to you. Not everyone wants to be a medical assistant or a carpenter.

I do get that point. It does suck if you're paying your own way and have to take a bunch of classes you're not interested in. They should leave it core classes (english, math, history etc.), Major classes, and leave the rest 100% open electives that you can fill however you want. More hours in your major, random stuff you're interested in etc.

Though any many states your point is less valid since many states have scholarship programs where anyone that graduates high school with a B average can go for free as long as they keep a B average in college....

Good thing you didn't if you went to a research university. Bio professors at research universities bring in a ton of money and Universities usually make more money off of them (overhead from grants they bring in) than they pay out in salary. Not to mention that at research universities salary is contractually 50% for teaching and 50% for research, so even if he brought in no grant money you were only paying part of half of his salary. :D

Not that any of that excuses poor teaching or laziness of course.

Heh, my statistics class consisted of the professor reading power points to us. Was pretty funny when the network here went down, he resorted to basically doing pictionary on the board.
The only bullshit classes I've had to take were only bullshit because of bad teachers. I can see where all of it would apply in life, but the teachers were fucking pieces of shit.
Reminds me of 90% of my so called "Professors" in college. I asked this one animation teacher a question about something and his response was "Let me get back to you on on that..."then walks away and never answers the question. Sure I don't expect them to know everything but if we are paying them to teach us, then they better write that question down and get back to you asap.

Even my Department chair was like this...didn't know shit about the major , yet she ran it til it crashed and burned to the ground.
