I can't cut my own hair because I can't see the back of my neck. :'[

Karma is a bitch:

I made fun of That Mana Knight not having a libido, and now mine is absolutely shot.

I think it's because I got, like, twenty hours of sleep last week.

Pretty much.

I should have had sex with her, because I've never been that attracted to a girl in my life.

On the flip-side, I shouldn't have, because I've never been that attracted to a girl in my life.

The way I think about these things makes sense to me, and I wish they didn't.

That's why I have my gf do it. It doesn't look great, but I have long shaggy hair anyway, so it's kinda whatever.
Casey, you're a history major, right? What field do you study?
Yea. Since I am just working on my BA, I am studying everything, but what I like to focus on is American History (particularly the Antebellum period and the Civil War) and Japan to a smaller degree.

The two history classes I am taking this semester are Modern India and Russia to 1914.

That's cool. Are you planning on doing graduate work? Where?

I am thinking of just going to NSCU for my MA. This way I can continue to live at home and keep my debt low. I would think about applying to Chapel Hill, but I really don't want to drive an hour each day. I may just fill out an app for them to see if I get in though.

That's cool. I was considering a history major, but it was too much of pain to double major in that and media studies, so I just took a minor, but I have taken history classes as almost all my electives too. I think I've taken about 10 of them, almost all in American History (my preference is modern, but there's only so many classes about 1900-today), but I took Asian History, and I'm taking European History next semester as an elective.

I kind of have something similar with political science. I have a lot of poly sci hours right now and have not done much with them. I may just try and cash them in by taking summer classes while I am in grad school. Already halfway to the degree and 2 summers of 2 classes would get me another degree.

I hear that. Graduate school is way expensive. Hopefully you can get an assistanship of some kind to offset the cost. After being in graduate school for 3 years and having another 3 or 4 to go, I can give advice on anything if you need it. History is at both times rewarding and frustrating. You really have to love it to go all the way.
Hey munch, have any interest in King of Fighters XI?
I've never played it before.

What do you guys think about this t-shirt ...

It isn't too expensive here. Only like 800 dollars more a semester.

It's not the tuition; it's more the buying a shitton more books, photocopying, etc. that adds up fast.
Hey Number how much snow did you get down there in Reading? We had close to 3 inches up Schuylkill County way.

Morning OTT.
We got 3 inches too, Mak. I live in the foothills of Mt. Penn, so when I drove down the hill, the valley got about an inch, so it's YMMV. I heard the Poconos got @ 10!

Really? Most of the classes I have had with grad students, basically they have to do 2 book reviews and write papers about double the length of ours. Clearly I expect grad student only classes to be kind of lame, but I didn't think they would be that bad.

It all depends on the class, but if you're just reading what's on the syllabus then you're behind. Then there's comps, another beast entirely. I'm not saying you're going to drop 50k on books or anything, but I've spent over 2k on books, methinks.

Yea I wouldn't be suprised about that. My last two semesters I have dropped about 1K on books, and I didn't even buy some of the more expensive ones.

I am going to try and sell most of mine this Christmas so that I can maybe get away with not having to buy any out of pocket (I want to use my school money on a new PC).

I love that shirt, however my mom probably wouldn't let me wear it. Also didn't Trakan have that as his avatar for a while?

as you get further in college you can figure out what classes you'll need the books for and which books you'll really need. i think i bought 3 books for about 90 bucks off half.com my senior year. much better than the 650 for all of them every semester. wish i'd gotten wise sooner.

Just noticed redbox.com shows the local Wal-Mart has a machine now. (And there is a grocery store with another one about 100 yards away in the same shopping center.)

I thought Wal-Mart might try launching their own version or maybe they wouldn't get these at all since they also sell a lot of DVDs. Smart of redbox to get an agreement to put their own machines in.

Those things are taking over. Time to sell BBI. (Actually it was time to sell BBI about 3+ years ago...)

But it's not the same for Graduate School. If you're not reading everything you'll get called out. That's not fun. Now, you can get them from the library, and that is a smart move for stuff that's not in your major field. But for the most part you have to buy the stuff.

I hate those Redbox things, theres always like 1,000 niggas standing around it pushing buttons trying to get movies. People take forever up in there too, you can go inside, do your shopping and on your way out you'll still see the same damned people standing there. :/

I would love to run a couple of those, but I don't have the time or capital to do it. Plus my area is pretty well saturated with them at this point.

Might be able to horn in with a machine that rents out HD-DVD and BR discs for $2 per day...

Speaking of blu-ray/HD-DVD.. my Hollywood Video has had the displays up for weeks now and still haven't put up the fuckin' movies. Shit pisses me off cause I see them in a big ol' box and ask about 'em every time I go in there but they say they're still not ready to be put out on the floor yet.
