Total Recall (2012 Remake) - August 3rd

This movie blew. Saw this last night at a free screening. Waste of free money. Just go out and rent or buy the original and rewatch it again, because it is still that much better, even with it being like 20 years old.

I have been reading that this movie is doing really bad. I want to see it but I have not expected much. I read at one time when it was in early development that it was going to be more from the book. Anyone that has read the book how much closer is the new one to it?
I'm glad they kept the 3-titted woman in. That scene is one of my favorite childhood memories.
But also pretty sad that it seems like 3 tits is pretty much all they're hanging their hats on in this movie.

You can hang three hats!

I seem to be the only one, but I liked it. It was action packed and a lot of the action was great. It wasn't as good as Len Wisemen's best action movie (Live Free or Die Hard), but still great.
The movie has practically nothing to do with the original and it never strives to be anything more than an action movie... but it lived up to my expectations (which is more than I can say for a lot of the movies I've seen this year).

I dub thee winners of this thread.

I might see it in.... two weeks... twoooo weeeekssss...

You know what tipped me off that this movie might suck?

The original was Rated R and this version is rated PG-13.

It just shows that the producers of this movie are a bunch of pussies.

I don't think it was bad as long as I forget about the original. They never did explain why the woman had three breasts. In the original I thought it was due to the radiation. This movie they never do explain it at all. I still want to read the book but from what I have read it seems like the first one is closer to the book than this one.

I might pick this up on BD when it is less than 10 bucks but for now it is a skip.

I take it you were listening to Jim Rome on Friday.
Also, since it's PG-13 the woman isn't naked. I hope someone still says "You make me wish I had three hands!"
The supposed three titted hooker says that herself in the second trailer.

Having just come from the movie, there are 3 bare titties present, even if for a short while.

I was going to watch it, even though it probably won't be that good but I enjoy sci-fi movies but I don't think i'll bother anymore.

All it will do is make you want to watch the original. I'm trying to track down the new release of the original now.

I am pretty sure it's one of the 'cheaper' blurays that Walmart sells these days. Probably less than $10

Edit: $6!

Ima see it probably do a double dip & catch a 2nd batman or Savages. That shooting is affecting ticket sales & the London games something like over 20%. All in all it was a great summer of movies too bad I gotta wait for gangsta squad & GI Joe.

I was looking for the mind-bending version. I ended up finding it for 10 bucks.

You know what tipped me off that this movie might suck? The fact that it stars Colin Farrell. When was the last time one of his movies was actually decent?:whistle2:&:whistle2:#

I loved him in "In Bruges" but I can agree that he hasn't been a great headliner for a movie in a long time.

Besides Farrell's not so hot career, I did see the new Total Recall. Save your money, the movie looks nice, but it just doesn't really grab your attention.

He held his own in In Bruges with Brendan Gleeson, who's a really strong lead. Sure, the movie overall was just okay, but he did well there. He was good in The New World. Pretty good (even with a hilarious Russian accent) in The Way Back. He managed to give a good (meaning believable) performance in Ondine, which is an otherwise bland, bullshitty movie. And I think he tried in Alexander, which is more than you can say for most everyone else involved (including Oliver Stone).

I know he's been in a lot of turds, especially shitty action movies. But anyone who's been in an action film is guilty of that, 90% of them are shit. I think he's a really underrated actor, unlike most actors who can manage if given good material, he can do something even with bad material.

I was going to see this remake even though I thought the remake was a bad idea. I mean, Colin Farrell AND Bryan Cranston? But it sounds like people really, really hate it. Waiting until it hits netflix.

And "Get your ass to Mars!"

The original is just classic sci-fi cheese, this looks like a by the numbers action movie for the most part.

When I went to see it, someone from the theater said they have not heard anything good or bad about the movie yet. To that I responded I have not heard good. Their response was "It has Jessica Biel in it." That really does nothing for me. If I wan't to watch something for the women in it I can watch more revealing things.
Yet another reason to invalidate your POV. You make it too easy.
What can I say? I don't watch much tv anymore as it is and I really only still look at AMC as 'that station that plays the Three Stooges'(and only sporadically anymore:roll:) for the most part, especially since they started producing their own series, added freakin' commercials a number of years ago and started playing shit like "Sahara" and calling it a classic.
And "Get your ass to Mars!"
I would also accept "Considah dat a divorce!"
To me, Bryan Cranston will always be the neurotic dad from Malcolm In The Middle and nothing more.
So you don't watch Breaking Bad?
Well hearing what ya'll are saying I hope "Dredd" ends up better then this.
The first Judge Dredd sucked, so the new one can only go up from there. And they are already screening it way far in advance. I think Dredd will be good.

I wish Hollywood would stop remaking movies that were already good. Take shitty movies, like the original Oceans 11. That remake worked.

LOL considering he's on the best show on television now and just crushes in the role, I hope you're joking.

From what I know of this movie (haven't gotten a chance to see it yet) I'd really hesitate to call this a remake of the Shwarzenegger movie. Aside from being based on the same story, it's pretty obvious they're both going for different things.
