I think it's a good thing to keep this thread bumped. The Tower where I'm at currently has all dvds at 15% off, videogames/accesories 25% off, and they'll keep dropping until they've sold everything.

I already said this in my post above, but no it was not 25% off everything, just video games. Most CD's and DVD's were still only 10% off, although they were just marking down Horror and Animation in the DVD section to 30% off.

i was too aggrivated to let them try to con me out of 25% off...so i called up the manager...he told me whoever told me the sale wasnt valid for the system didnt know what he was talking about and is willing to put one on hold for me til i get off work...
 
25% off on games? Damn, I passed a TR today but I had already told myself not to bother going until the discount dropped a lot from 10%.. otherwise I'd just see stuff that I'd wait to pick up and be disappointed when it was gone when the discount was lower.

Picked up 3 Premium 360's from Denver location. 1 for me and the other 2 are Xmas gifts for friends.

At the time of my purchase they had 4 cores and 2 premiums left.

picked up a 360 for a friend in concord, california.

i asked some floor worker by the regular video games originally if they had any in stock and he was like "nah we just have the games" and then i asked a person by the counter where they keep the 360 games and he called someone in the back room and they did have them in stock. eff that other guy but thank you original poster.

100$ off the 360 Premium sounds good, however with the news that a newer less heat producing cpu for the 360 coming out soon, I might just hold off for a few years as it is telling me MS is trying to fix the 360 heat problem.

I am still going to wait for the PSP to reach 40%-50% off then buy it. Then when cd's hit 40-50%, im buying (soundtracks)

Porn stuff is still 15% off :whistle2:( bet you that will be the very last thing to reach 30% lol

Anyways OP you need to keep posting dates and keep tracking it.
 
Just picked up an Xbox 360 Core for $225 at the Sherman Oaks (CA) Tower. :) I would've (obviously) rather gotten the Premium, but they were out-- I figured by tomorrow night when I could hit a few more Towers the odds of finding a Premium were pretty slim. Plus at this price I can have some money for the HD-- just gotta be patient and wait for deals. Or I might find the HD at another Tower...

I kinda blew it and forget to check for cables and such. (i.e., something nicer than composite crap!) They were out of hard drives. Memory units were still $40 so I passed-- they had TONS so I figured they may survive to 50% off. I saw one other guy walking out with a Core and some girls in front of me were picking up a TON of accessories (controllers, Xbox live kit, etc). I should've shopped some more but my credit card is killing me this month and this is way more than I wanted to spend anyway!
 
I went to Buena Park tower today,

there are games there, some good ones too, specifically

Metal Saga, Steambot Chronicals, and DDS2,

all $49.99 before 25% off. still a bit pricey.

other than that, I didnt look at the xbox games,

the gamecube selection is extremely light,

and some good PSP games, but all $40 before discounts.

As of 4:30PM today, they got 5 xbox 360 cores and two PS2s,

both $225 and $98 respectively.

ITDEFX has all the percentages,

however RAP cds were 20% off, dont kno about the rest of the music
 
gotta be careful when you ask those Goth Freaks for a price checks, fucken clerk was getting pissed when I told him I didn't want the ones that were still over priced. Guess when your a goth working in the only place that will hire a goth and that place is going out of business, your gonna be out of a job forever unless you ditch the long black hair, shave, and stop wearing black heavy metal tshirts. :p
 
just to add, I spoke to one of there employees today.

-Pretty much all employees were referred to a web site, which was nothing more then a listing of temp agentcies.

-The company isn't doing shit to help them find a new job.

-NO new STOCK is coming in..so forget getting a discount on a new release that came out this week :whistle2:( since it will never come

-Everything will go, including the furniture, but i bet you the MoD (manger on Duty) will overprice it :p

Heh, I was planing to go down there today to look at the 360s, since it's only like 5 minutes away (changed my mind, since I just got paid). Though I figured that it'll actually be cheaper for me if I waited for a price drop and get it at Overstock (it'll have to drop atleast 50 bucks though).

That and the fact that I can't take the box back on my scooter anyways. Heh, I need bungie cords.

Might drop by some other time to look at CDs though. There's this one CD I can't find, and I'm getting pretty pissed. Doubt they'll have it though, since it's Import.

Just got a 360 for $300...at my store they were behind the counter locked in a case with no evidence they had any at all, so I would say ask (and one guy who worked there said "they didnt have any" because the employees were waiting to buy them up). Thanks OP

It's at Birch and Brea, I believe. Right in downtown Brea across from the theatres, near the Mall. I'm going tomorrow after work, as I'll be working at Bamboozle all weekend.

Stupid work. :(
 
Oh good, another large music store with a surprisingly decent Classical music section is going under. Their prices were never the best but if I needed a title offline and immediately there was a good chance that they would have the uncommon, even rare/eclectic thing I would be looking for. Now all we have left locally is Borders since Best Buy's section is a damned joke and Circuit City is barely worth a mention.

Good luck on the deals, everyone. If anyone lives near Huntington Station back on Long Island I suggest hitting up the store for stuff ASAP. The music and movie sections were very well-frequented but at least a quarter of that store is probably covered with a good layer of dust and holds some amazing deals. God bless people who never look!

I checked the lincon center Tower. They had tons of Nintendo DSs and one Xbox 360 Core system left. All the games for the 360 were gone.

well it depends on what your looking for.

if you into movie soundtracks and rap (from what the other poster said), its 20% , everything else in the music section is 15% off.

Anime DVD's are 30% off, but I am not into that.

I think right now Books and Magazines are the best deals right now with 20%-30% since they can't mark those up past the printed on book price..
the game systems 25%, well if you think 100 dollars off of a system that could be a heavy brick after getting the ring of death is a deal, then go for it. I think i will just wait for the new CPU revisions coming soon that MS expects to eliminate much of the 360's current problems.

possible...u have to go to the store and ask for it...chances are they'll say they dont have it but ask EVERY employee....1 is bound to slip up if they do have it...

I predict that there percentage off might increase every week , unlike Sam Goodies close out time table. Tower Records might have a set time line for this. Its too bad we don't have a goth on this site who works for TR who can tell us this.

If this is the wrong place to post this, sorry and please delete. I'm interested in the core for $225, but there are no Tower Records anywhere close to me. If someone would be willing to help me out and pick one up for me, I would cover all the costs and add a little something on top. Please send me a PM and hopefully we can work something out.

Was walking around Santa Monica's 3rd Street Promenade yesterday, and a few guys were standing around with Tower Records going-out-of-business signs that read "up to 30% off." Didn't hit up that location, though, as my folks were visiting from out of town and I already made them go to Borders (to check if they had any more 50% off games in stock -- which they did).

perhaps wednesday will be the day for the % off change. I know this because the employees told me the price changed the day before when I talked to them last Thursday. It could be every week it could be every two weeks, we don't know.
 
One of the employees I talked to said that they change the percentages when corporate tells them to, and that they don't know when, specifically.

However, they're going to keep selling until they've sold everything, or around December when they shut their doors finally, so that might give an idea of the timeline they're sticking to.

that means Black Friday , either NO SALES OR sudden 1 day only everything 90% off. If that happens, everyone will raid TR.
 
I went to the local Tower and got a $300 X-Box 360 Premium! Of course since they are no exchanges/returns the controller didn't work. Just my luck. I picked up a $30 wired controller later, so I guess I still came out ahead.
 
Sweet deal on the 360. Unfortunately my local store doesn't carry games and everything but rap is only 15% off, and considering their prices are already at least 30% higher than anyone else, it's still a ripoff.
 
I managed to get my hands on the first set of Marmalade Boy for $35. (I say this now, after making sure none of the other Towers in the area have any other sets)
