Immense gratitude to Shrike4242 for updating this thing while I was away!!!

This is an odd one.....

Basically the gist is that Toys R Us is reducing its inventory by 20% by marking down over 6,000 skns from it's inventory, most of which are toys. There are however roughly 300 or so video games/accesories that will be a part of this clearance. As of 7/11 all have been marked down from 30-50%. TRU is seeking to aggressively move these skns out of its stores. So if these games have not sold in roughly a months time they will be marked down again...a month later, again.....and so on until it's gone. So if you're the gamblin' type I suppose you could hold out for cheaper prices. Prices seem to be good everywhere, though there may be some variance in prices between stores.

Everything that is a part of this sale is on a 3 week cycle, meaning that every three weeks any items remaining in the stores will receive another price drop. Seeing as how these prices went into effect on the 11th of July we should be seeing them all drop again on the 1st of August.

The only caveat here being that retail is an odd beast that can be subject to change. So basically there is another price drop coming that in all likelihood will happen on the 1st so check back on the than to see what's up.

*****CONDENSED VERSION FOR THOSE OF US THAT ARE NOT SO GOOD WITH THE READING*****

a.) TRU marked down a shiton of inventory.

b.) Inventory will continue to be marked down if they do not sell.

c.) Prices may vary between store.

price drops don't get printed out for the "shelf stickers?" you have to check it with TRU employees for price check?
price drops don't get printed out for the "shelf stickers?" you have to check it with TRU employees for price check?
price drops actually get two stickers-a shelf sticker and a little red clearance sticker.
however, the harsh beast that is finite time coupled with the universal decline in labor budgets in american retail mean that chances are your TRU won't have these. that is why there is a list on page one. sure it's somewhat inconveinent but get used to it.
I'll be checking my TRU tomorrow for Doom 3 CE, Psychonauts & Onimusha I think. Is this pretty much the final list or is it possible stuff will be added later? I want to avoid driving out there 5 times like I did for the CC sale because TRU is a good 10 miles away.
Mine went out of business so now I get to drive 30-40 miles. And with Circuit City...nearest one is a 45 minute drive...and I had to make the trip like 4 times because the list kept getting updated. I probably lost money due to gas costs on those games.
Yeah but I'm trying to save on gas.
 Unless you're driving a Hummer, that's a couple bucks round trip.

If stores had the hours to actually tag everything correctly it probably wouldn't be there for you to buy it. Be thankful TRU watchs the P&L like a hawk now. Back in the day we had a full time dept. head for markdowns. Needless to say this person bought all kinds of items since she was the first to know. Her son work at the store and he piled on things as well. Next in line were the employees to grab the cheap items. Customer nothing...

Instead of people raggin' on me for doing my part to help the environment :)shame:), can someone actually answer my question while I check if my TRU is still in business?

so true. it actually works out better for CAG's when stores can't properly implement their own pricing standards.

Agreed, during the $9.98 December clearance, I got a few games like Flatout for XBox and Pikmin 2 that I don't think I would have gotten had the employees at the store or other customers realized the games were $9.98 (since the price tags and shelf tags were all full price)

Are the games actually marked as being on clearance? At the CC clearance the games weren't marked as being on clearance. I just need to know if I should bring a list of the games when I go.

At my TRU they were not marked.

I checked out my TRU today - all were clearly marked with LARGE signs. So much for finding any of this stuff with further price drops. This sucks hard compared to the green-tagged (and often NOT tagged) sale :D. They didn't even have the games I was interested in at all anyway (Suikoden Tactics, Tokobot, Legend of Heroes). I did see Meteos for $14.98. And there was a Puyo Pop for DS for $9.98, but that is still too high for me. With the HUGE sign it isn't likely to last the weekend though.

The only good thing about this sale is that it appears to be fairly uniform, as all the prices I saw match the OP. So if you are lucky enough to have an unmarked TRU you might get some of this stuff cheap later.

Damn...the nearest Toys R Us is about 1 and half hour drive :( .....gas is going to be pretty high...don't know if the trip is worth it, hope the deal is also online too.
I know this game sucks.....but in the strange chance that one day I want to play this game, I know it'll be there on my shelf. I guess most of all, I just want to know the story of this Suikoden, even though I heard there's nothing much (of anything).
it does give alot of insight into the convoluted story of 4. If youve played 4 the save also goes over to thTactics game. I liked it too.
Soul Calibur III FTW? Yes please...
Holy crap, how did I miss that? Good thing I checked this thread before heading out.

Add these to the OP:

XBOX
Ninja Gaiden Black - $14.98
Incredible Hulk - $19.98

I was stoked :) Also found Psychonauts and Baten Kaitos. Only games I wanted but couldn't find were Destroy All Humans and Fire Emblem (GC).

Full Spectrum Warrior for PS2 is 9.98 at my store (Alpharetta, GA), and you removed F-Zero GP from the list? It's 4.98 (and in-stock at this store as of yesterday afternoon).
Add these to the OP:

I got all excited about this, but then I realized it's $17.99 used at EB/GS. Hmm...new copy, or B2G1F?

My local Nashville store (Rivergate) had these games, not listed in your OP, on clearance.

GBA
Xevious 4.98
F-Zero: GP Legend 5.98
Paperboy/Marble Madness/Klax 14.98
Konami Arcade 7.98

XBOX
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory 13.98
Batman Begins 9.98
Pac-Man World 3 14.98
Constantine 9.98
TRON 4.98
Phantasy Star Online 4.98

PS2
Barbie Horse Adventure 15.98
Zathura 9.98
Lifeline 4.98
SLAI: Steel Lancer Arena International 19.98
Finny the Fish 13.98
Jak & Daxter 9.98
Hot Shots Golf 3 9.98
Blood Rayne 2 4.98
Anyone know if Psychonauts for PS2 is also $15?
ps2 psychonauts was part of the 9.98 game clearence in december.

I ran by my local TRU and saw the same type of signs, so that seems to be semi-uniform in how they're doing it.

No signs of FFXI HD kits, unfortunately, though they did have FE: POR for $30, which is about $5 too rich for my blood ATM. Rest of it was stuff either I had, or didn't have the system for.

Alright, good to see this happen. I swung by my local TRU and picked up Puyo Pop Fever, Phantom Dust, Psychonauts, Killer 7, and Destroy All Humans for $55.
BTW, why isn't Destroy All Humans (XBox) listed? It was on sale for $9.98.

Now to swing by another TRU on the way to work. Gonna try and get Fire Emblem: SS, Castlevania Double Pack, and Soul Calibur 2.
EDIT: Oh, and they seemed to be pretty good about the price marking. Most, if not all, the clearance items had little red stickers with the new prices on them, and a few had a large "Clearance" tab sticking out from the shelf.

EDIT #2: Also, question for jetsetmario or any other TRU employees: Any word on player guides dropping? It's been a while since TRU did some more penny guides.

God, that TRU had a bad selection of PS2 games. Couldn't find Soul Calibur 3 which was the main one I wanted. Picked up Doom CE, Psychonauts, Stranger's Wrath & Guilty Gear for $48. I had Pantum Dust in my hand but put it back.

I went to the Clifton Park, NY Toys R Us and couldn't find the one I was really looking for: GBA - Fire Emblem The Sacred Stones.

I'll check Albany, NY Toys R Us later.

Always always always bring a list.

Has anyone seen PoP Two Thrones for XBOX? Shouldn't it be 19.99 retail now? Would love to get this at $10-$15 if I can.
Has anyone seen PoP Two Thrones for XBOX? Shouldn't it be 19.99 retail now? Would love to get this at $10-$15 if I can.
Pretty much hit a universal drop elsewhere, though TRU has notoriously taken its time on doing universal drops on some games.

Hey there -
Any fellow CAG's in Northern, VA sight any of these:
GBA
Fire Emblem Sacred Stones - $14.98
Dr Mario/Puzzle League - $14.98
GC
Mega Man X Collection - $14.98
XBOX-
Guilty Gear X2 - $4.98
Halo 2 CE - $4.98
PS2
14.98
Romancing Saga
Suikoden Tactics
19.98
Soul Calibur 3
XBOX
$14.98
Ninja Gaiden Black
How long can I get my games price adjusted? or How long is the return policy?
45 days on games.

Hit three stores. No go on Soul Calibur III, all three were sold out. Ended up getting Romancing Saga for $14.96 and Makai Kingdom on clearance for $29.96 (considering it still retails for $50 new and at EB for $27 USED, I figured what's three more odllars for a new copy).

Okay, I'm thinking I'm not gonna find SC3 at a TRU. Does anyone know how to go about price matching at BB or CC? Or would I not be able to do that due to clearance?

went today

was able to pick up:

fire emblem: sacred stones (gba)
puyo pop fever (ds)
phantom dust (xbox)

they had a TON of fire emblem for both GBA and GCN.

there was hardly any signage about the clearance games, you just kinda had to look for them.
Okay, I'm thinking I'm not gonna find SC3 at a TRU. Does anyone know how to go about price matching at BB or CC? Or would I not be able to do that due to clearance?
Considering that as far as I've seen there is no ad/flyer with the TRU prices and TRU.com doesn't have Soul Calibur 3 listed, I don't think there is much chance of getting a price match.
