Immense gratitude to Shrike4242 for updating this thing while I was away!!!

This is an odd one.....

Basically the gist is that Toys R Us is reducing its inventory by 20% by marking down over 6,000 skns from it's inventory, most of which are toys. There are however roughly 300 or so video games/accesories that will be a part of this clearance. As of 7/11 all have been marked down from 30-50%. TRU is seeking to aggressively move these skns out of its stores. So if these games have not sold in roughly a months time they will be marked down again...a month later, again.....and so on until it's gone. So if you're the gamblin' type I suppose you could hold out for cheaper prices. Prices seem to be good everywhere, though there may be some variance in prices between stores.

Everything that is a part of this sale is on a 3 week cycle, meaning that every three weeks any items remaining in the stores will receive another price drop. Seeing as how these prices went into effect on the 11th of July we should be seeing them all drop again on the 1st of August.

The only caveat here being that retail is an odd beast that can be subject to change. So basically there is another price drop coming that in all likelihood will happen on the 1st so check back on the than to see what's up.

*****CONDENSED VERSION FOR THOSE OF US THAT ARE NOT SO GOOD WITH THE READING*****

a.) TRU marked down a shiton of inventory.

b.) Inventory will continue to be marked down if they do not sell.

c.) Prices may vary between store.

well, i caved and picked up Doom 3 CE from my TRU -- they had one copy left for $9.98 and I knew that if I left it there, it would be gone soon. I'm not an FPS person (give me motion sickness), but felt I needed it in my collection ;-)
Totally with you -- I have the first two on Xbox -- kinda saddened that Tecmo never brought the last one over to finish the trilogy. The XBOX ones are better, IMO, than both the PS2 versions.
I totally agree.

Yeah, but it seems like companies aren't making games for the Xbox at all any more. I wish we could get FFIII for the Xbox but it's not worth it for the developers to make Xbox versions anymore. The big releases like Scarface and Madden will have Xbox versions but I don't think they saw any money in an Xbox release for a game that doesn't sell like Madden or Burnout. Rockstar did the same thing with Bully. Getting a game backwards compatible must be much harder than we ever thought. Maybe, we'll just see an all new Fatal Frame for the 360. That would be sweet.

Drakengard 2 was $20 at the TRU I went to today, so that might be a new drop.

I picked up that, along with Psychonauts, Ninja Gaiden Black, and Baten Kaitos.

I almost bought Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath, KUF: Heroes, and Fire Emblem: Sacred Stones, but decided against it.

I believe this is a new addition, because the clearance sign just appeared for it this week:

Hello Kitty: Roller Rescue (GC) - $14.98
I'm not sure if anybody else has mentioned this yet, but I'm 99% sure 700 new SKNs will be added to this deal Monday. And I'm about 50% sure that the discounts will drop to 50-70% off.
Any word on a list + new drops yet? Monday is fast approaching (just a few hours) and there's a Jungle Beat at TRU with my name on it. :D

Good news- I'm 100% sure phase two of the blowout begins tomorrow.

Bad news- I have no idea how, what, and when stuff will be dropping in price.

Here's what I can tell you, the changes will be worked into the system similar to the way this sale started. So, that means that the new drops will be worked in by section, basically Monday-Thursday of this week.

As I said earlier, I'm unsure if any new videogames will be added to the sale. I am also unsure if further price drops on videogames will occur this week, no matter how probable it looks. Try not to get too excited until we can get some sort of confirmation of lower prices.

I was and still am hoping that another TRU employee can help shed more light on this. I probably won't be back there until this Friday, so whatever help any CAGs could provide would be great.

Awesome. Thanks for the update. :)

The update I want is from someone who went to TRU today. Come on, I know at least one of you did, lurker, regular, semi-regular poster, give us the goods.
I'm gonna swing by today, need to pick up those Happy Feet plush toys.

:bouncy:
Goes without saying but let us know if prices on games have actually dropped or not.
Goes without saying but let us know if prices on games have actually dropped or not.
sure. i'm planning to go to 2 locations today.

I went to the Deptford, NJ TRU and found that the prices (at least as marked) had not changed at all. Sorry to disappoint. Others checking other stores keeep us posted (and maybe get some games scanned to check).

yup, nothing new this afternoon. hit up 2 locations, none have mark-downs or what not. it looks like the drops will be the same for the rest of the week.

i'm not sure if there's gonna be price movement before the Labor Day weekend, but who knows.

didn't go empty handed, i picked up some Happy Feet plushies. :D

Was able to score at the TRU by Lakeline mall in Austin Tx or Cedar Park area whatever you prefer-
Gba-
Castlevania double pack
DS-
Viewtiful Joe: Double Trouble
Yahtzee/Boggle/Monopoly/Battleship combo pack

Price for Double Pack?
Price for Double Pack?
Still 19.98. Went ahead and got em in case theres a price drop this week and Ill return em and re-buy em.

Next rounds of markdowns started at my TRU today. Only games noteworthy of price are:

Castlevania: COD (XB) - $13.98
007: From Russia with Love (XB)- $13.98
Half Life 2 (XB) - $10.48
FFXI (w/ HDD, PS2) - $27.98
Intec Xbox LCD screen - $27.98

There was a ton of others, but nothing spectacular.

The new markdowns seem to be on shelves now, yet no drops in the first round of markdowns yet. I'm guessing that happens tomorrow at most TRUs, if at all that is.
FFXI with HDD for 28? wow.
i am returning mine
Wait... how easy is it to return it and then rebuy it? Or can they just give you the difference in money if it's unopened? I won't have to take it back and then risk someone else buying it, right?

It is fairly painless. You can return/re-buy at the same time and you only need the receipt - so you can leave the game at home for a no risk transaction.

That's real nice to know, thanks.

Hmm, 39.98 -> 27.98 is an extra ~30% off. That applies to the other drops as well it seems. So it appears 30% off the previous price is the new price. FE GC should now be...$20.98! Crazy. I'll have to go tomorrow and see if my TRU did this yet... I've got $196 of stuff to get adjusted.

Well, I stopped by TRU on my home tonight. Basically, from what I can gather, some of the games received an additional drop in price, while others did not. I am unaware if any new games were added to the list. I am also unsure which specific titles received the addittional drop as I did not get a chance to see the list.

So just to be clear, some games dropped, some didn't. For example, Ultimate Block Party went from $14.98 to $10.48. Whereas Death Jr. remained at $19.98.

A few other drops/unchanged items I checked:
Pump it up: $29.98-20.98
KOF 02/03: $19.98
Eyetoy: Antigrav: $9.98

I'll make sure to get the complete list Friday and post it unless some other CAG does it first.

It appears that the Castlevania Double Pack stayed at $19.98 and Psychonauts XBox stayed at $14.98. I got the Final Fantasy XI/HD set for $27.98, and it was stickered correctly, so the prices should have been up-to-date at that store.
That's real nice to know, thanks.

Maybe not THAT crazy, part of me wants to believe there'll be a reprint of Fire Emblem as a $19.99 game. So... I must wait until it drops down to $15 or so to move on it. I was expecting that to happen by now.
Boy, TRU is being stingy. I aksed earlier but I think it was missed: when does the annual B2G1 sale usually start?
I hope it is soon. I really want a good deal on Fatal Frame III while there are still some copies to be found. And for the other two there are plenty of games on my wanted list right now.

Incredible, there was one Resident Evil 4 for the Gamecube at my TRU, I made sure to check for availability by phone before I showed up in person. Was very pissed the first time they clearanced this game, but then told me that there were none in stock even though there was a display case on the floor. Glad I finally managed to pick one up for $9.98.

I just dropped by my TRU. Picked up:
Psychonauts $10.48
Advent Rising $13.98

Also saw but didn't pick up:
Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath $10
Trapt $20
Stubs the zombie $20

The xbox remotes are still $25. :bomb:

I noticed a couple drops at my nearby TRU. Nothing really noteworthy at all, but I thought I should throw them up here anyway.

Tecmo Classic Arcade: $6.98
Phantom Dust: $6.98
Full Spectrum Warrior: $6.98

From Russia with Love: $13.98
TimeSplitters Future Perfect: $13.98

These all apply to Xbox. I didn't really bother to see what had dropped for the other consoles or handhelds.

i just dropped by tonight at 2 local TRU (out of my area) and like i said in my previous post, the drop could happen either Thurs & Fri. and it did.

but before that, I think we need to create a new thread, as this July thread is already outdated. we need a something for Sept. now.

here's what I gathered (and remembered)

:ds: DS
Dig Dug - $10.48 (note: $9.98 at my local TRU)
Ping Pals - $ 6.98
Sprung - $ 9.98
Battles of Prince of Persia - $13.98
Spider-man 2 - $10.48 (note: $ 9.96 at CC)

:gc: GC
Baten Kaitos (w/ OST) - $10.48 Wow
Sonic DX - $11.98
there's some more but I can't remember all, will go back Fri/Sat.

:xbox: X-Box
there's a good drop on some titles, but can't remember prices:
Splinter Cell:CT
Psychonauts
FarCry: ??

Sorry guys, I can't remember all, but there's more.

Will update on :xbox:, :ps2:, :psp:, & :gc: once I get back there on Friday or Saturday. So no need to rush, as some stores will be updating on Friday.
Darn, went to go check San Rafael, CA TRU right after reading the last post. No markdowns or new stuff yet. :(
were you the guy who bought Full Spectrum Warrior and FF XI today? if so, yea I didn't get a chance to do the price drops yesterday. another of our guys came in early this morning and did 80% of the price drops, and I finished up the rest during my shift tonight.

Yep. That was me. I was surprised that there was a FFXI w/ HDD still there. Glad I didn't know about it till today, otherwise I woulda bought it at $40. Are all the price drops now officially in the system at that TRU? Not much dropped. :|

Yea, all the price drops are finished and tagged. Most if not all the price drops were just further drops on stuff that was already marked clearance.
