Edit: $45 Trade-in Credit for UFC? Oh nice! Also, that list of games makes me regret not picking up a copy of Bolt when FS had it for $10. Also going to pick up a copy of Riddick.

Edit2: Call of Juarez 2 is worth $40 trade-in, when it's selling at Wal-mart for $30 this weekend. Looks like I might actually be picking up a copy for a -$10 rental.

Btw: Does Rogers offer price protection. Say I go buy Riddick now and just don't open it, will they re-adjust the price on the 28th?

so wait, the current Prototype promotion doesnt end until august 14?
or will there be some downtime when there is no promo for trade 2 get it free while Rogers waits for Madden's release?

Preorder question is interesting....

To be honest, I wasn't too interested in Madden this year (they've been getting better in most ways... but each year the improvements oddly seem to just magnify the broken elements), but if I can get it for:

$25 (Star Rewards membership cost plus hopefully one of the lesser titles on the list can be found for $15 or less)
and my copy of NHL 09, which is worth next to nothing at EB now

... I'll happily do it.

Got myself a copy of Riddick today for $21.99. The price is for used copies so if you want to get one I would suggest getting to RP asap. I'm also going to go back later this week to do a trade for Sacred 2 at 30% off.
 
Traded in CoJ for $40, FNR4 (couldn't get into it after UFC) for $45. Got TW 10 bundle for the Wii, $15 on a gift card and 7 star rewards points. Not too shabby at all.
 
I was wondering if anyone could clear up some things about this deal and rogers in general. I didn't see it answered, but do you need to be a star rewards member to get in on the 3 for 1 trade in deal or is that only if you wanted the 2 free rental thing as well? Was thinking of picking up batman that way.

Also, are you able to pre-order games from rogers at all? That $40 for ghostbusters is enticing even though i wanted to keep it. I probably would never play it again any time soon though and $40 sounds good, and at that price i'd rather trade it in on a preorder for brutal legend or something else that's out this year.
 
30% off of all used games = what those games' prices should really be at. Their prices for used games are highway robbery.

That said, I might pay them a visit to see what they have.
 
What is required for Rogers trade-ins? That preorder for Madden might be good as EndWar is pretty cheap right now. Just gotta find something else cheap.
 
You cant pre order madden, which means rogers plus' will be crazy the 14th. Anyone know if you can trade in ANY third game to get the star membership free?

Does Rogers write anything on used game discs? I know @ Block Buster they write "BBV" on each used game. Does Rogers keep the discs clear? Many thanks!

They don't do that at my BBV. Rogers used to have that silver ring sticker on the inside of the game disc. Thing was a bitch to get off too but I'm not sure if they still do that or not.

It really varies by store.. one store around me writes random numbers on it with black marker, some put that silver ring sticker on the manual which is impossible to get off (sometimes on the front, sometimes on the back) and all stores around me use the silver ring on the disc.

It's easy to get the silver stickers off the disk. Peel them off and use a little contact cement remover on the residue using paper towel or I find make-up pads work well.
 
Yes. Love. (Rubbing alcohol or a dry erase marker will both work as well).

Actually managed to get the sticker off just using a dish towel and some soap and water.

Also, didn't have any success trying to trade in for Madden as a pre-order. Could have been the merchant's inexperience at trading in games but I doubt it. I think you have to wait till the 14th.

You have to pre-order the game and then when you come to pick up/pay for it then you trade the games to pay for it. The only downside is the five dollar deposit comes back to you on a gift card. Currently we have no way of pre-paying the game with the trade-in promo with the current way it's set up in the computer.

Thanks magiic. It was quite the pain in the ass because I waited for well over half an hour for the employee to make a number of calls. I think she was a manager because her biggest concern was being $50 in the hole at the end of the day. She sent an email to someone and was hoping to get a reply back by today but I decided I just didn't want to mess with it until the 14th. I go in there frequently so I'll prolly pre-order it next time I'm in there.
 
I tried preordering madden at my local Rogers, but was told I can't because it's not on the list of eligible games for preorder.

Pre-orders may vary by location. I can confirm Madden is available for pre-order on PS3/Xbox 360 at mine.
 
Ok, so i went in to the rogers nearest to me today to see about the trade in deals. Don't think they had many people ask before because they were unsure about some things, but we got it figured out best we could.

First, they didn't have the current trade in deal flyer, so they had to look it up online and see that indeed, batman was part of the deal. Then they didn't know how the trade in deal worked, so they called someone and were told to just wait til the game came out to do the trade. The staff wondered if they could just put the games tiv on the star card, but i explained that the tiv of the 3 games is usually lower than the price of the new game, which they found to be correct. So they just took my info down in a pre-order book and said to bring the 3 games on the release day.

Oh, and to answer my other question, you do need a star rewards card to trade in games, but i didn't see that info specified on any of the advertisements. I traded in ghostbusters for $40 and just took the $10 off of that. I don't really rent much, but at least i have the card if i want to rent a game or something.

I'll probably use the leftover $30 to get Marvel UA2 or maybe something else that catches my eye this year....unless anyone knows if they sell PSN cards there? I forgot to look.

I got a 360 and PS3 copy. They only got a couple copies of the game in it seemed. Also had some trouble working out how to do the promo, but in the end it worked.

Anyone know if/what the next promo will be?
